partly out of amusement to see what they can get away with, mostly to keep them out of their hair for a while

kinda sat here wondering about if thace ever felt unnerved or intimidated by anyone while working undercover in zarkon’s main base there

and honestly

just the idea alone, being in the heart of everything and knowing that at any time any tiny slip up could spell disaster, is fucking terrifying. now being thace, there’s probably that lingering paranoia and subtle fear, there’s going to be realizations now and then of how much deep of a situation he’s in, it’s gonna make him uneasy because it’s a very risky chance he’s taking.

but those times are also the same times where he calms himself down by thinking that yes this is immensely dangerous. stupidly dangerous. but not only does someone have to do it, this is something that plays a small part a change that will not just affect the galra but the known universe too. normally bearing that kind of responsibility and knowledge might make some people’s fears worse but to him it’s an opportunity to make a difference

he thinks about those orders that he has to pass through, turn a blind eye to or otherwise grit his teeth and hope to every willing deity out there that who ever suffers from them would understand the greater cause. that doesn’t stop him from looking for loopholes (like in his early days before he was transferred to HQ; failure to document escape pods from planets, turning a blind eye to people escaping during invasions/to another part of the planet during the night,etc.)

that doesn’t really stop the guilt and weight of knowing that he’s the one that didn’t stop the plans when he couldn’t have but he just kinda. keeps that as a reminder.

unless he genuinely means to teach you because if he doesn’t, no one should be put through what he has in mind. remember this is the same guy that i headcanoned would, on the occasion, if you ask him a question that has an obvious answer- he’d be more prone to answer with sarcasm to the degree that it’s hard to tell whether or not he’s joking. why does this tie into learning how to fly something from him?

because whether or not he’ll genuinely teach you or take you on a fucking controlled tailspin isn’t really known until that ship leaves the docking bay
