Not to be serious but umm. From one eldest to the other, how do you be a Good one? Like how do you know you're good? Do you ever?

I've been thinking a lot (I know, shocker!) about this ask... Since little Totty from the past is here now, I feel like this is a good time to answer it.

It really isn't easy being the eldest. We always have to be cool and set a proper example for everyone else... To be completely honest with you, anon, I'm almost completely convinced I'm a total failure as an older brother. Words just escape me, and if I want to throw a punch, I just do it without thinking. I'm probably the worst older brother in the world...

But! I think the one thing that truly sets a good older brother apart from a genuinly bad one is... Not choosing violence™ at the right times.

And what I mean by that is. And I know this is gonna sound corny as hell. You have to choose to be kind when it matters. That's all it takes. Or, well, obviously not all! But I really think that's the heart of it.

Like, you can be a huge piece of shit 90% of the time, joke around and never take anything seriously, but, when someone's feeling down, you're there for them and try to reassure them the best you can...

When your siblings know they can actually rely on you, or willingly come to you talk to you about their problems, that's how you know.

I can't speak from experience, but, well, I'm pretty sure it's something like that! The past can't be changed, but, hey, you can always try to be nicer in the present! Be open to those opportunities, and stop sulking about all the bad shit you did when you were younger and didn't know better.

Chin up! You might be the eldest at home, but, to me, you'll always be the most adorable little imouto (or otouto!) ever and you can let your oniichan deal with everything for you! As long as it doesn't require too much work.
