saw some trolleyproblemposting that pissed me off so now im thinking about the thematic overlaps between project hail mary & the last of us and how the moral conundrum at the core of both leaves us bereft of a straightforward answer, and while the genres invite different conclusions, both narratives coax us to consider multiple perspectives on the same questions: what would you do for love, in spite of love, and in the absence of it?
Reblogging Deer for Yapping Time™️ and adding Coltlandgentry AU & SixStratt spices here. Court as the oldest brother of the coltland twins truly works for the AU because the TGM canon we collectively pulled from the movie is where he k*lled his abusive father to safe the younger brother. And there goes his Joel Miller Morality™️ in terms of "I became the monster so no one else I love would turn into one, I gave in whatever moral conscience I had for the sake of my loved one(s)."
SixStrattーmy favorite, probably rarest crackpair in the whole RGCUーis a some kind of reversed mirror on that similar context.
I remember reading somebody around here wrote about how it's frustrating how most coltlandgentry AU doesn't use much of their dynamic.
Yes, I second it. LIKE...
Eva Stratt "sacrificed" one Ryland Grace to save the world. Sierra Six/Courtland Gentry "sacrificed" his whole world (his life, his future) to get his brother(s) safe. They are both indeed, monsters on their own.
Even if the fandom, again, usually collectively agree to make Court got angry at Eva for sending his brother to space, I personally don't think he would ever harm or k*ll her. I believe Court would realise they are two sides of the same coin. Thats why I love smashing them together, my angsty tragic babies.
Many would say Eva is the depiction of Atlas for carrying the responsibilities on her shoulder. And you all remember how Six/Court has the Sisyphus tattoo, right?
Yup. They are getting on the same load. Boulder time, baby! Sorry .... corny jokes.
SixStratt would absolutely bond with Joel Miller, I believe , hahaha.
Or maybe Eva is the Marlene in this situation, perhaps?
