i think….... elliott’s sense of smell and taste are very sensitive or at least more sensitive than normal? especially smell but because smell and taste are so linked to one another both would make sense. and even then he really likes odd smells specifically.
he comments on the farmer’s scent caused by working hard (the “natural musk” comment), that’s the canon part. but i also think he’s very particular about different plant scents and pomegranate-flavored / pomegranate-scented things (also canon - the “pomegranate conditioner” comment) and likes “strange” smells like. idk he seems like the kind of guy to like that “new car smell” or other odd chemicals, like specific chlorines in a swimming pool.
definitely adores old book paper smells and ink, that’s a given. would immediately notice small changes like if the farmer scrubbed their hair with a different shampoo that day or washed their clothes with a particular fabric softener. likes the unique scent of different people, especially the farmer’s. very fond of the salty smell of the sea and the scent the wind picks up on the beach.
for taste i don’t think he’s an extremely picky eater but seeing as he came from a well-off family his preferred tastes are more expensive. at the same time would eat the same crab cake or lobster dinner for days straight over and over without getting tired of it. would be able to notice and enjoy the “notes of so-and-so” in wines and stuff but not in an annoying stuck-up way. he knows how to cook, and these heightened senses probably assist with this a lot (or hinders, it could go either way if it’s too much for him).
