If he just had to get the guy a notebook and some pencils to keep him occupied Tony would gladly invest in some art classes. By now he’d be fine sending Loki to Gregory’s charity parties as an ambassador just to get him out of the house.

     with a roll of his eyes, loki decides to continue to humor the man before him. opening up properly about something for once in his life couldn’t hurt too much; especially not, he thinks, to this guy.

“ Poetry. Theater. Drawing. ”

     he sighs, turning his gaze up to the ceiling for a moment.

“ Please, spare me the knowledge of how cliche that seems. I’m already painfully aware. ”

“Alright Maleficent, do you have any hobbies besides brooding?” Tony leaned back in his chair. If he couldn’t get the homeless deity out of his aura he could at least hope to adjust him to becoming less of an intimidating factor.

“ Of course. ”

     situation diffused, the threat of this.. whole realm again postponed, loki settles a touch less guarded. for the time being, this was where he was to exist -- and with past experiences in tow, he didn’t intend to accumulate any more enemies.

“ Though, I cannot say I’ve been allowed to indulge in anything else as of late. If you hadn’t heard, the past years have been.. full for me. ”

     there’s a bitter edge to the god’s voice, and it doesn’t seem as though he’s willing to walk the path of friendly chatter about his experiences.

“ ..I enjoy the arts. ”

“…Aren’t you magic?” Fair enough, not a lot of the ‘avengers’ had been very receptive to accepting the guy who blew up New-York back on earth. Then again Tony wasn’t used to having someone in his living space for more than eight hours. “I’ll tell Strange you’re living in the basement, fly off, be free, get a haircut.”

     loki doesn’t grace the question offered to him with an answer, instead glowering vaguely; it’s his business and his business alone when he decides to call upon his seiðr. ..not that he often uses it for anything other than convenience.

“ Pardon you, my hair is not to be meddled with. ”

     with a huff, the god shifts, crossing his arms and settling himself more firmly into the couch as an act of defiance.

“ And I refuse to be cast out. ”

“Here’s an idea that might just be the best idea I’ve had all week-” Tony wasn’t particularly invested in the whole ‘saving the world’ idea. Sure, he did what he could and ‘borrowed’ his suits and time to the cause but he wasn’t one to enjoy nearly getting killed five times in the span of three days to then boast about it.“You go out there and find your own apartment to live in.”

“ I -- what? ”

     green eyes flickered up, vague interest in the other man’s words turned quickly to attention. worry struck first - something that was swallowed down - which quickly became cold. he responded with a smile that was clearly more sharp than sincere.

“ Sounds like a great idea. It isn’t as though most of the population would rather I remained dead, now, is it? ”

“Though, we could take a ‘scenic route’,” he offers, “I don’t think we could be blamed for getting a little sidetracked.” And strictly speaking, Clint’s job is to keep an eye on the god. He can do that at the place he has in mind.

     loki stood in the water for a few more moments, feeling the waves lick his ankles and taking another breath of the cool ocean breeze. if only he could leave his duties behind and spend his whole life right here.. the sounds of his human companion shuffling about remind him that he can’t, though. this is his realm to protect, not to live in.

     with a quick flick of the wrist, the god is once again back in more appropriate garb -- this time, close enough to midgardian casualwear that he might blend in if they’d any reason to be in a crowd. ..might.

“ Scenic route? ”

     attention piqued, loki pads back toward the bike. as he passes it, he discreetly grabs the arrow clint had fired at that poor sandbag, letting it shimmer out of existence in his hands. perhaps it would come of use at a later point.

“ The longer I don’t have to be cooped up in there, the better. So. Yes. Show me. ”

That thought does make his smile more genuine but as he watches the sun dip he sighs again and very reluctantly says, “Director Hill would want us back before it’s dark.”

“ Funny, Mother says the same thing. ”

     loki runs his thumb against clint’s hand in an effort to soothe him. it’s.. nice. this is nice. in honesty, this was the first chance he himself had gotten to relax in a long while -- he wanted to savor it.

     a frown plays on his lips when the other man mentions leaving. though, with a bit of a sigh of his own, he can’t help but agree.

“ ..You’re right. You’re right. ”

He glances at Loki and flashes a smile of reassurance.

     loki’s not content with just that; he moves toward clint, taking one hand in his own and lacing their fingers. he didn’t much care for americans’ fear of intimacy, and he certainly wasn’t about to let it stop him from his own open brand of affection.

“ You seem tense, ” he muses, keeping close as he looks out over the waves. “ ..You don’t have to tell me. Just relax a little; look at that, it’s beautiful today. ”

     he motions vaguely toward the sun edging its way down toward the horizon, toward the line where the sky met the sea. it wouldn’t be too long before it set.

The dull thwack of the arrow is hardly satisfying. He turns to the shore and watches Loki again. He knows he’s standing too tensely but he’s starting to feel like the space is too open and he’s losing the control he’s trained to have.

    the noise -- even from a distance -- instantly has loki on guard. he’s known far too many over-zealous archers to trust that sound. it’s just his companion, though, he confirms as he squints toward the opposite end of the shore.

there’s a few beats where loki just watches clint, before he calls out, taking a few steps closer, feet just back out of the water.

“ Hey. Clint. Join me. ”

     there’s a subtle pleading to his tone, like a small child passively asking for a toy.

“ The water’s nice. ”

He wishes he could actually let his guard down; pretend they really were just seeing the sights.

“ I’m not promising anything. ”

     loki flashes a grin as his clothes shift easily into something more.. light. breezy. it’s still distinctly not midgardian, but it’s certainly more relaxed.

     and like that, he’s off, padding out toward the water lapping at the shore. the sand between his toes is so foreign, so new.. it’s the little things that he finds pleasure in.

“Not a whole lot out here,” he says once the engine is quiet, “but the view is nice.”

     by the time they stop, loki’s perfectly wavy hair is fucked five ways from tuesday -- something he’d normally fix with a snap of his fingers, but. there’s so much giddiness coursing through him, he can’t seem to find the effort to care.

“ Not a whole lot -- are we seeing the same thing? ”

     something in him wants to bolt down to the water. it’s always been that way -- it doesn’t matter what world he winds up in, oceans and seas always have the same pull.

“ Is it -- can I --? ”

     he gestures vaguely out past the sand.

“Hold on.” Clint flicked the switch on the dash and revved out onto the hidden highway as the compound doors opened.

     it’s almost a thrill when clint speaks his name -- formality is something he doesn’t often freely give up. something in him, a god’s intuition he might call it, said it was alright this time. nothing wrong with casual fun.

     he doesn’t need to be told twice to hang on, thin arms wrapping around the other man’s waist as he settles himself on the back seat. the vehicle is small, a little awkward, but even just coasting out of the compound has loki practically humming with excitement.

     he can’t help but chuckle at the formality, shaking his head, wavy hair falling over his shoulders. bright green eyes dance across the odd array of vehicles before he’s turning back to clint, a playful glint in his eyes.

     loki flashes a grin, eager to follow after his new.. friend. interesting. perhaps he wouldn’t mind staying here as much as he thought he would -- mischief, after all, was much more fun with company.
