Wind Breaker #224: Something tells me we might have to sit through a lot more chapters before we actually get to Suo. (So if there are three tiers, I would assume Rakta's got Level 1, Bacchus Level 2 and Suo will be final boss at Level 3... But is he the FINAL final boss? We shall see!)

Mad coincidence that Endo has the DNA of Durarara!!!'s Shizuo and Izaya all over it (crazy strength X scheming information broker), and he and Chika are voiced by the two same seiyuu of the original notorious duo.

(Spoiler: It's probably not a coincidence).

Wind Breaker #223: That feeling when Hiragi claims Suo as one of his. I'm not crying.

But no, it's actually hilarious to imagine the Furin boys went to Bankoku-gai, then left Bankoku-gai, only to return to Bankoku-gai with passes and a disguise... all this while they've already put themselves on blast and Rakta knows they're coming.

Wind Breaker #223 thoughts: We knew that Endo has inside connections to Red Chanpuru, but did it ever occur to anyone that perhaps his "inside connection" isn't some low-level grunt he paid off to do the spying for him, but that he could actually have direct access to the powers that be in Red Chanpuru because he's engaged in "business dealings" with someone on the inside? And by business dealings, I mean dealings of the questionable sort, like perhaps, kidnapping a certain singer from a certain town in the earlier chapters?

We never did find out who the "old man" was, so what if this incident is actually related in some way??

We know Endo isn't exactly an upstanding citizen and he's got a boatload of money that has to come from somewhere, so it's not an overreach to speculate that he's likely a muscle for hire running dirty errands on behalf of powerful clients who pay him handsomely. It would explain why he knows his way around the city in such detail (because he's been in and out of it enough times to know) and has heard of the "stinky rumors" floating around town. And if the Red Chanpuru has indeed been corrupted by a very powerful individual, could Suo have caught wind of it and is trying to purge the evil on his own? Oh I am so seated for this development!

I can't get over Suo's "Chibi-fied" eye/expression when he was justifying to Nirei about busting into Sakura's home, because he was absolutely being so unserious about it. Suo has got his normal-expression eyes but we got this beady version instead.

Wind Breaker S2E12: Archiving this scene because someday I will miss it dearly.

Suo and Nirei aside, out of all the vice-captains of Bofurin, the pair that intrigues me the most is the Sakaki twins Seiryu and Uryu. I wonder if we'd ever get more backstory for these two and how they came to be chosen/volunteer as Tsubaki's secondaries. Twins tend to bring up themes relating to asserting one's own individuality while embracing being one-half of a pair, and I think they match so well with Tsubaki and his backstory of self-discovery and learning to be comfortable in his own skin.

Wind Breaker S2E4: I find myself lingering around this episode for a distracting amount of time because why is Sakura holding his spoon like that. This anime is just about anthropomorphized cats learning to be human.

Sometimes you read too much into one screenshot and you see the line that divides Sakura and all the classmates on his phone that he hasn't learned how to properly respond to yet.

I feel like I owe the Shishitoren arc an apology for my first impressions of S1 being a little underwhelming (was an anime-only then and went in blind, and was surprised they only covered one rival team for an entire season). Now that we're knee deep in Suo's arc, it suddenly feels like everything in the first arc is a blueprint for what's to come and will circle back to the very beginning when Sakura was still finding himself and searching for connection (and after Suo broke his trust, it did feel like Sakura's progress had indeed been forcefully reset and he's knocked back to square one again).

Characters failing to face each other properly, even throwaway lines from the rival gang made me give pause; like how Shishitorien's "forsaken justice" in its pursuit and worship of power (So if my hunch that Red Chanpuru "champions justice", what is it they have forsaken?) And Suo being made to fight a "grown-up" pretending to be a child when he is a child pretending to be a grown-up, and what could this say about his empathy... or lack of?

But most importantly, I'm reminded that Sakura did already see right through Suo from the very start.

At this point, S1 is not just a required rewatch; it feels like I am finally watching it properly and there's a lot more to think about now.

Just thinking out loud about who would end up fighting Rakta and who gets Bacchus when the confrontation between the Red Chanpuru generals and Bofurin comes to a head.

I think we can rule out Sakura (and Nirei) as these two will likely be dealing with Suo, but that still leaves the other three in the Scooby gang to match up with Rakta and Bacchus. But that'll be three against two and the math feels off, which makes me wonder if there might still be one more RC member who has yet to make their appearance.

But then it begs the question of why their appearance is being delayed... unless they could be someone who is more powerful than the current RC generals and poses a significantly higher level of threat to our boys, which then leads me to wonder if the 4th guy might turn out to be the "actual evil" that the gang is meant to defeat. And if that is so, then the match-up between members of Bofurin vs RC would have to go into "reshuffle mode" with the introduction of this new threat, because it would not make sense for the supporting characters to be fighting the ultimate boss rather than Sakura and/or Suo (think of it like a secret stage that unlocks after the Bofurin gang has cleared Boss Level Suo).... which then leads me to think if Suo, Rakta and Bachuus would end up teaming up with the Bofurin five to take them down.

And wouldn't that be something worth thinking about. :*(ʘ‿ʘ ✧)
