Timaeus had gone for a swim in his dragon form. He needed to stretch his wings and have a day to himself. He propels himself through the water with them, flying in a sense, underwater. It was days like these that he could really let go and go exploring. He waa finding new places, along the coast. He surfaces briefly, lifting his head enough to look around.

Ah! A beach!

One he's never seen before. And it looked to be empty. He dives back down and makes his way there to rest a bit, breaking the surface of the water, the earth shaking as jumped ashore. His dragon is massive with a muscular build and yet that didn't hinder his speed and maneuverability. He stretched his wings and flapped them to rid them of water as he huffed out the liquid from his nostrils, rumbling.

While Jou's head and neck were feathered, he was mostly covered in a layer of soft, thick fur...Which also wouldn't be very comfortable when wet. Now that Timaeus was on land, it became apparent just how small Jou was in comparison...And it made him feel a little bit inferior. He wasn't all too sure he liked that.

Still, prancing a few steps away to give the larger being enough space on the sand, he held his head high and proud, offering a soft trill of amusement as he answered the question.

"Well next to you, a small one." he joked warmly, deciding he didn't mind the vast size difference between them.

"Just kidding. I'm a North American Striped, I'm not native around here. You won't recognize my markings from anywhere though, there aren't any others left." He said, shaking himself off a little, it was still a little bit of a sour subject.

"And you? I've never seen a dragon like you, either..."

Timaeus huffs out a small laugh of amusement. His wings ruffle slightly.

"I guess so."

He trilled curiously as Jounouchi explained what kind of dragon he is. He's never of that type before. He did let out a sympathetic coo when the other mentioned that there weren't any others. His earfins flick when he is asked what he is in return.

"I am an Aquatic Titanus. I am not native as well. As far as I know, I am the last. And...from somewhere long ago."

He doesn't where exactly he's from just yet. He didn't want to overwhelm the other right off the bat.

"Huh, never heard of that species before. I guess we're both learnin' somethin new today." Jou mused softly, shaking himself off a little from the small amount of sand that had landed on his back from his prancing earlier.

"So what brings ya out here?" He inquired curiously, head tilting lightly as he spoke. It seemed any wariness had now given way to the smaller dragon's inquisitive nature.

Jou HC: Dragon Behaviors In Human Form

Because Jou is genetically half dragon, some of his traits are prevalent in both his dragon and human forms, and are very easy to pick out if you know how. Let's break down each one so you can recognize them in his day to day life!

1: Constant Foraging

This is Jounouchi's most noticeable trait no matter what form he takes. He's very well known for his insatiable appetite and likeliness to eat pretty much anything he can find. He's very food motivated, and this isn't just a random personality trait. North & South American Striped Dragons are biologically designed to be foraging and grazing for up to 16 hours a day, which is very similar to other herbivorous animals that can be found grazing in local fields today. However, because he is half human, Jounouchi is more omnivorous than his pureblooded ancestors and his diet is much more varied.

2: Not Doing Well Alone

Jounouchi's species were very socially dependent animals, much like horses or any other herd animal that humans are familiar with. Because of this, Jou feels most confident and safe when he's with his friends or those he trusts, after all his dragon species is still a prey animal and has a very instinctual drive to be close to others. There is always more safety in numbers. While he can be alright by himself, he much prefers the company of others and is much happier in a group.

3: Being Spooked By Anything Out Of The Ordinary

Because Jounouchi's dragon species stems from a prey animal, he is extremely wary of his surroundings at all times. It's not hard to spook the crap out of him, if you manage a really weird movement or drag him to an area where he can feel the energy in the air shifting, he hates that. This is also part of the reason why Jounouchi is so terrified of anything paranormal, North & South American Dragons were extremely sensitive to even the slightest changes in the energy around them, whether it be a slight shift in the wind or a grasshopper farting in the next county over, and Jounouchi is no exception to that rule.

4: Loyalty To A Fault

Jounouchi's loyalty is one of his most important qualities, as well as the one he tends to be the most well-known for. This is no coincidence and stems from yet another genetic trait of his bloodlines within his dragon ancestry. Dragons of his species were highly emotionally intelligent and very deeply feeling, forming powerful familial bonds that lasted over a lifetime. However, this loyalty is part of the reasons for his species going extinct for one specific reason: they paired for life and when their mate died, they would never again pair with another. The same also applies to Jounouchi, if he truly falls for someone, they will be his one and only permanent partner. If they pass away or leave him, he will likely never take another, even if it means spending the rest of his life alone.

Jou drew his head back slightly as Timaeus craned his long neck down, the other was massive in comparison to Jou's much slighter build, but he wasn't overly intimidated for the time being. Though the bright golden feathers around the smaller dragon's head perked up slightly as he heard that deep voice.

"Uh...Hello..." Jounouchi responded back with his own mind aloud, his accent was still pretty prevalent, slightly more of an echo within but other than that, it wasn't really any different than his voice whenever he was within his human form. He was mainly a little surprised that this other dragon could speak, just like him.

It seemed they had more in common than he'd originally thought.

Timaeus' earfins perked and flared on the side of his head, his eye widening slightly. His head tilts slightly, tusks glinting in the sunlight. He emits that same deep, soft rumble from his chest.

"My apologies if I have disturbed you. I did not realize this beach wasn't empty."

His long tail flicked, sending a splash of water behind him. He looked over the smaller male dragon in front of him.

"If I may, what is your name? That way I know who I am speaking to."

"Nah, 's alright. Don't worry about it." Jou replied, though he did jump a little at the splash of water behind the much larger creature, head tilting a little as he eyed it with slight suspicion for a moment. Water in general wasn't exactly his favorite.

Still, he shook himself off and straightened up a little, neck holding his head high in its natural position. At the question, he trilled softly and cocked a back leg slightly, slowly beginning to become more relaxed around Timaeus the longer they talked.

"My name is Jounouchi, but my friends call me Jou. What's your name?" He replied without much hesitation, seeming perfectly content to stay and get to know this other dragon for a while.

Jou HC: Interacting with him in dragon form

Jounouchi in dragon form can definitelty be intimidating for those who are new to it or who are only just getting to know him. But there are ways to interact and befriend him in dragon form safely.

Dragons of Jou's species are incredibly sensitive to touch around their head, especially their beaks and slightly above on the sides of their mouths. They have a lot of nerve endings and receptors there and would often bond by gently touching their noses and beaks together as a form of deep connection with one another. If someone gently reaches a hand up and rubs over the side of his beak and over the bridge of his nose, Jou will very likely be leaning into the touch and will start trilling and almost purring, in a way. However...This is not suggested unless they are someone he has met before, otherwise he may find it offensive which could lead to a pretty irritated dragon.

Jou loves to be scratched right above his wing joints as it's a spot he often can't reach, and if scratched there he will almost always be stretching out and leaning into it...As long as it's someone he knows. If it's someone he doesn't....Well, expect to have a few deep scratches and probably a hospital visit, his claws are no joke when he's mad.

If Jou is interacting with another creature or dragon and he has a bond with them or is forming a bond, he will gently groom them with his beak in an attempt to help deepen that bond between them. Mutual grooming is something his species often did with one another and it is very ingrained into his genetics to do so. He will even groom humans on occasion, provided they are someone he trusts.

He hates the feathers around the crest of his head being touched, unless by someone he already shares a very deep bond with. Jou tends to be rather head shy as the feathers are very sensitive and can be painful if touched the wrong way.

Little did Timaeus know that he wasn't the only dragon on the beach. Up the beach, within a grove of trees, a second dragon was resting, though this one was far different from the much larger and more robust Timaeus.

The sound of something in the water drew Jounouchi's curiosity, stirring him from his slumber within the undergrowth. Rising up with a yawn, he stretched out his own wings for a moment before emerging from the treeline, his black-and-brown patterning blending almost perfectly with the shadows within the forest. Stepping fully out into view, he stopped dead and stared out at the much more massive dragon in the water, raising up on his hind legs to gain a better look.

Other than the duel monsters, he had never seen another dragon before, let alone one of a different species, and as he dropped back onto all fours, he raised his head and let out a long, crooning call to signal his presence, and hopefully this other larger beast wouldn't view him as a threat.

Timaeus froze when he heard that crooning call, his earfins flaring as turned his head in the direction it came from. He tilted his head as his long tail flicked. He didn't know anyone else was here...wait. He takes a few quick sniffs, scenting the air, his eye widening.

Another dragon!

But this scent he was unfamiliar with and that long, crooning call didn't sound threatening. He returned the call with a deep, soft rumble, letting the other know thag he meant no harm. Instead, he was curious, his eye searching the area, trying to see this dragon before spotting them. He almost didn't see them with that black and brown pattern, blending in with the forest behind him.

That low rumble seemed like a good sign, it seemed his attempts and letting this other dragon know he meant no harm had worked. Tossing his head and giving a welcoming flap of large, golden wings, down the beach he trotted, tail flicking and swishing in the process.

He stopped once he reached the edge of the water, eyeing the waves with slight suspicion. Water had never really been Jounouchi's strong suit, and that was especially true in dragon form. Wet wings meant a much harder takeoff, it wasn't impossible, but definitely a lot more effort was required to carry that kind of extra weight.

It felt so surreal to see another dragon, even one of a different species, and while he wouldn't get any closer to the water, he did stretch his neck out, beat giving a few soft clacks as he offered a welcoming trill, wings folding neatly against his flanks. It seemed Timaeus could have found a friend in a much smaller, lightly built dragon that was practically as alone as he currently was.

How in the hell did he end up in this situation again? Well, okay, Yugi did know how he ended up here... sorta. Mostly from trying to stand up for someone else and protect them. He didn't know what the context was, all he really knew was that that guy was clearly up to no good with that woman, she was scared, crying and no one else was there. Was Yugi suppose to just walk away? Logic may say 'yes, you fucking idiot!' because he was obviously outmatched and could have died, but the woman got away. All he could really hope now was that she was able to fully escape whoever he was and get safe... otherwise he was knocked unconscious and dumped in the middle of the Gods only know where with no phone, wallet missing, and no easy way of telling where civilization may be.

He was breathing heavily, only knowing it had to have been hours by this point because he'd gotten to watch the moon move up to the top of the sky... and it was now making it's way down the sky. Great. A part of him knew maybe he should have tried to find somewhere safe to sleep, but with not having any idea where he was, and no obvious way of getting home... Yugi wasn't exactly... itching to go to sleep anytime soon. His head was still throbbing, though now he couldn't tell if it was from exhaustion, the hit to his head, or anything else. Or maybe just all of the above. His shoulders were stiff, and his legs ached. He finally decides to give in to his body screaming at him for a break, sitting next to a small stream. The stars and moon glint off the slow flowing water, and he leans over to see his reflection. Oh right, his bottom lip had been split, and he had a pretty nasty bruise on his right cheek. All things considered, as long as he got out of here alive.... it could have been worse... right?

There was a few noises in the night that he could hear. And while none of them sounded all that familiar, he at least closes his eyes and lays back against the grass a moment. It was like the night itself was calling to him... and well, it's not like anyone was around to hear him...

"....Fuck it..." he mumbles before decided to mimic a call he thought he heard in the night, a long low call. He didn't know who or what he was speaking to, but hey, maybe they'd answer? Not that they'd be able to help him, but... maybe he'd feel a little less alone...

Little did Yugi know that one call would summon a creature that many believed only to exist within their imaginations. That one single choice to make that call brought a dark shadow soaring overhead and a loud cry that mimicked the one that Yugi had just made sounded above him, circling around once before it came swooping down through the treetops, seemingly out of nowhere.

From the skies above, a massive black dragon with striking brown markings and large, golden wings dove towards Yugi, landing within an arm's length of him. The creature reared up on its hind legs, massive clawed front limbs pawing at the air before landing once more, shining red eyes fixed upon him. It stood over 6 feet tall at the shoulder, head tilting from one side to the other as it eyed him, clacking its jaws and offering a low, curious trill that sounded almost identical to that of a Loon, head being tossed a few times before the creature finally seemed to settle, prancing back and forth in front of him, massive wings giving a final flap before folding against the creature's sides.

Shaking its head, the dragon blew out a heavy breath before stopping and facing the much smaller human in front of it, red eyes blinking as it arched its long, elegant neck and lowered its head, giving another gentle clack of its large, bird-like beak and taking several steps closer to him, stopping just within reach, so close that Yugi could easily reach out and touch its head.

When Yugi heard the approach of something, and something big coming, he had immediately tensed and opened his eyes wide. Wait, did it copy the sound he made…?! What he wasn’t prepared for was to see a large, looming figure swooping in from above him and…. Coming towards him?! A new surge of adrenaline courses through him as he scrambles to sit up and scoot back, as if afraid the large creature wouldn’t see him underneath. The ground shakes from the impact of the creature landing in front of him, and violet eyes lock onto red ones, freezing the duelist in his place. And now that he was staring the creature down he could more fully process this beast as being… well, the only logical description that fit… was a dragon. He looks around him, as if search for some kind of indication that this was once again, one of Kaiba’s Duel Monsters holograms, which would mean there was someone near by! — but… there wasn’t a duel going on. And this dragon didn’t look at all like one of the various dragons he knew of from Duel Monsters either…

“Okay… I’m… dreaming. I’m still knocked out, but someone found me, and took me to the hospital… and I’m dreaming of a dragon…” Yugi then goes on slowly before starting to move just a little closer to the dragon, admiring the coloration and markings. It was truly unlike any dragon he’d normally picture which made him wonder how his brain must have come up with the idea. Not to mention how… realistic his dream had been up to this point. Wait.

Wait he had felt pain almost this whole time. You’re not suppose to feel pain in dreams. Either he is dreaming and his injuries are a lot more severe than he originally thought…

“Or I’m awake… and I’m sitting in front of a dragon. …no way, that can’t… although…” he murmurs and slowly holds out his hand to the large creature. His hand shakes a bit as he got closer, then able to feel its hot breath a moment before his fingertips brush over the top of the dragon’s head. He almost yanks his hand away from surprise to feel the solid mass indicating that this creature before him truly was… real?

….If he had a nickel for every time he’s been in a situation where a dragon, that shouldn’t be real, appeared and come to him during a time he needed help, he’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but how the fuck has it happened twice?!

“Holy shit, I’m not dreaming…” he then breathes out loud with a small laugh finally letting his palm more fully press against the dragon’s head softly. “Wow…”

The dragon held still as Yugi processed the situation, the glow of those red eyes slowly fading to reveal a deep, intelligent honey-brown in color. The way the light refracted from his eyes was what made them glow red, and now those eyes softened as the being allowed Yugi's fingers to trail over its broad head. Once his palm finally rested more fully against the dragon's head, the beast offered a soft chirp and leaned into the touch, before a familiar voice suddenly sounded within Yugi's mind. A telepathic form of communication, not unlike the one the young man had once shared with the pharaoh all those years ago.

"You're a long way from home," The dragon said, shifting his weight slightly from one front foot to the other in the process. "How'd ya manage to get all the way out here?"

Of course, that accent and tone within the large male's voice was likely unmistakable, and those soft brown eyes were a dead giveaway also, if Yugi were to look close enough. At the very least, this dragon was about the farthest thing from a threat possible, instead seeming to be an ally...And perhaps a very close one at that.

How in the hell did he end up in this situation again? Well, okay, Yugi did know how he ended up here... sorta. Mostly from trying to stand up for someone else and protect them. He didn't know what the context was, all he really knew was that that guy was clearly up to no good with that woman, she was scared, crying and no one else was there. Was Yugi suppose to just walk away? Logic may say 'yes, you fucking idiot!' because he was obviously outmatched and could have died, but the woman got away. All he could really hope now was that she was able to fully escape whoever he was and get safe... otherwise he was knocked unconscious and dumped in the middle of the Gods only know where with no phone, wallet missing, and no easy way of telling where civilization may be.

He was breathing heavily, only knowing it had to have been hours by this point because he'd gotten to watch the moon move up to the top of the sky... and it was now making it's way down the sky. Great. A part of him knew maybe he should have tried to find somewhere safe to sleep, but with not having any idea where he was, and no obvious way of getting home... Yugi wasn't exactly... itching to go to sleep anytime soon. His head was still throbbing, though now he couldn't tell if it was from exhaustion, the hit to his head, or anything else. Or maybe just all of the above. His shoulders were stiff, and his legs ached. He finally decides to give in to his body screaming at him for a break, sitting next to a small stream. The stars and moon glint off the slow flowing water, and he leans over to see his reflection. Oh right, his bottom lip had been split, and he had a pretty nasty bruise on his right cheek. All things considered, as long as he got out of here alive.... it could have been worse... right?

There was a few noises in the night that he could hear. And while none of them sounded all that familiar, he at least closes his eyes and lays back against the grass a moment. It was like the night itself was calling to him... and well, it's not like anyone was around to hear him...

"....Fuck it..." he mumbles before decided to mimic a call he thought he heard in the night, a long low call. He didn't know who or what he was speaking to, but hey, maybe they'd answer? Not that they'd be able to help him, but... maybe he'd feel a little less alone...

Little did Yugi know that one call would summon a creature that many believed only to exist within their imaginations. That one single choice to make that call brought a dark shadow soaring overhead and a loud cry that mimicked the one that Yugi had just made sounded above him, circling around once before it came swooping down through the treetops, seemingly out of nowhere.

From the skies above, a massive black dragon with striking brown markings and large, golden wings dove towards Yugi, landing within an arm's length of him. The creature reared up on its hind legs, massive clawed front limbs pawing at the air before landing once more, shining red eyes fixed upon him. It stood over 6 feet tall at the shoulder, head tilting from one side to the other as it eyed him, clacking its jaws and offering a low, curious trill that sounded almost identical to that of a Loon, head being tossed a few times before the creature finally seemed to settle, prancing back and forth in front of him, massive wings giving a final flap before folding against the creature's sides.

Shaking its head, the dragon blew out a heavy breath before stopping and facing the much smaller human in front of it, red eyes blinking as it arched its long, elegant neck and lowered its head, giving another gentle clack of its large, bird-like beak and taking several steps closer to him, stopping just within reach, so close that Yugi could easily reach out and touch its head.

Jou had been standing calmly by the railing of one of the bridges in Domino, a place he often went to in order to think and get some space. Though, for the last hour or so, he'd gotten the feeling that he was being followed, and he wasn't overly pleased about it.

Now, there was nobody else around, and after taking a long, casual drag off of the cigarette he'd just lit, he turned his head slightly to look over his shoulder, keeping his laze fare attitude for the time being, as he finally decided to acknowledge their presence.

"...You can come out of hiding, I know you're there."

Admittedly, Atem hadn't been sure how to approach when he did finally get enough courage and felt ready to start seeing some of their other friends. But it did ultimately feel right for Jou to be one of the first of their friend group besides Yugi to see next. Also, admittedly, should he know better than to follow after him like this? Absolutely. But when you end up committing to your decision, then realize you didn't actually plan out what you wanted to say, or how to approach it at all... Well.

The Egyptian tenses slightly, as if he had been struck, when he first hears the blond male's voice calling him out. Well, he thought maybe he was doing alright with this and managed not to be seen or noticed. Clearly he was mistaken. There was a small moment of hesitation before the Pharaoh takes a slow breath and more confidentially steps out. His hands come out to cross over his chest loosely as he gives a small chuckle.

"...Perceptive, you've caught me, Jou. It's been a long time, my friend."

"...You've got balls of steel for sneakin' up on me like that, ya know. You're lucky I'm not punch first ask questions later anymore, you asshole." He responded, looking at the man with a less-than-pleased expression....For about all of half a second before that familiar, wide and goofy smile came back to his face as he moved away from the railing, put out his cigarette and walked right up to Atem.

"Jeez, you really ain't changed, have ya?! Bring your stupid ass over here, you've got some nerve not comin' ta see me sooner!"

And of course, it didn't take all but two more seconds before the blond was grabbing the former pharaoh and bringing him in for a tight, crushing, classic Jonouchi bear hug.

"Damn, I've missed ya Atem! Welcome back!!!"

For a split second the Egyptian wondered if this was definitely not how he should have gone about it. And maybe he should have planned a better idea. And then he saw the blond’s familiar bright grin fill his face and his body relaxes once more. He finally then laughs as he steps closer to the other, holding out his arms and immediately getting pulled into a bear hug. He coughs slightly before wrapping his own arms tightly around the taller male, and while his own hug couldn’t be described nearly the same way as Jonouchi’s… he was determined to make sure Jou could still feel that same love and commitment he had for him since the beginning.

“If I have, it s not by much, is it?” He agrees before looking up at him with warm dark purple eyes. “I’ve missed you too, Jou. Thank you! How did you know I was back earlier, hm?”

"Oh C'mon, everybody knows you'd go spend time with Yugi first." Jou responded, soon pulling back from the hug only to playfully ruffle the man's hair with a wide smile.

"Besides, I ain't exactly easy to find nowadays with my line of work! Figured it would take you a while."

The blond didn't seem at all offended by Atem's slight delay in coming to find him. After all, he did move around quite a bit nowadays and spent less time frequenting their old haunts as much.

"So then...Ya kissed Yugi yet or what~?" he teased warmly, waggling his eyebrows a little in the process.

"So, what have you been up to? Seen Yugi lately?" He asked, figuring if they were going to talk, he may as well be civil.

He was about to say something, but when Jou captured his lips, he all but melted against him. A low moan bubbled up from his throat as his arms slipped around his neck. Yugi only broke it when he had to take a breath but he never went far.

"Listen-" He said in between kisses, fingers threading through his hair. "I-I never... want to bother you from work-"

It was a weak retort, but honestly it was still a worry that he'd be too demanding. But damn it he was addicted to him.

"Hmmm~. Well, I definitely have no complaints there~." The half-dragon purred back, loving the way those fingers ran through his hair as the other's body pressed against his.

He tilted his head slightly to allow those lips to trail over his jaw, a low rumble emitting from his chest, loud and low enough that he knew Yugi could easily feel the vibrations. After all, it wasn't every day his dragon instincts allowed anyone to see such a soft side of him.

"Better be careful, Yugi~. Provoke me too much and things might get a little rough." He purred lowly, eyes closing as he purely enjoyed the attention. Ahhh, how he'd missed these intimate moments they shared, it had been far too long.
