Day 13 - North

North is hated so much because she’s a woman with absoltuely no interest in being likable the way women are expected to be.

She’s not sweet or nurturing, she’s cold and opinionated, and women aren’t supposed to be either of those things.

Think about it. If north were a man— a man with a dark past of abuse who wasn’t afraid to tell you his thoughts and would rather kill humans than see his own people killed—

mm. Sounds like a potential fan favorite actually.

North is hated by the fandom because she shows traits that oppose the victim mentality and she doesn’t deal with her trauma and abuse like everyone wants to dictate to her- which is victim blaming.

North is not blood thirsty, she’s pragmatic and ready to defend herself and her people to the death. Honestly I get some of the writing is clunky, but why does every other character get a pass for that from this fandom??

You can avoid the romance in the game, I know its usually thrown onto the player but seriously hating North for that reason alone is just petty. 

 Also how can the fandom continue to spout that North only wants to kill people- when you can still be peaceful and show North that route with high approval.(wow she disagrees, doesn’t mean she hates you- infact she only hates you if you are rude to her)  Yet the fandom loves Connor even when he goes down the machine route, killing innocent androids and people to get what he wants in a truly evil route. It’s a double standard. 

Oh btw the main reason that you get a negative result with North for leaving Simon behind is because she knows he is going to have his memory taken and they are going to find Jericho- which can happen! 

I agree its annoying as a game function- but North is used to tell the player/Markus when another route is available eg. she doesn’t like Markus to fail the QTE’s or when you have a better option- ie. follow the right path to save Simon and jump off the roof as a team. 

It’s a serious game play flaw, but I don’t see why it should reflect badly on North so much in the fandom as a character flaw. 

If North were a man, she’d be instantly shipped with every other character - Connor, Markus, Simon, Josh (although Josh gets ignored too! hm wonder why???? >->)

She’s funny, sarcastic, blunt, ready to fight and if she were a man with a stupid nose scar the fandom would f*cking love her.
