Contemporary cosiness – Made in Berlin

We showcased our concepts in sustainable interior design for a society in movement at imm cologne (16 - 22/01/2017). The focus was on the melting together of living and working spaces into multifunctional overall concepts and the multifaceted interplay of materials and surfaces.

We were lucky enough to count on the services of Hamburger Unternehmen für Möbel und Licht, PLY unestablished furniture for the design of our stand at the fair. PLY designed the approx. 80 m2 occupied by our stand as a harmonious mix of living, working and getting together in a collage of vintage and contemporary collections.

Against that backdrop, the newly launched BLACK LINE program, with its matt black powder-coated tubular structure, combines the flexibility of a fully matured furnishing system with a cosy materiality and aesthetic. We also presented the multiple dimensions of our iF Design Award winning K Series modular table system, showing new models, technical solutions and high-quality surface finishes, demonstrating its suitability for use in meeting and conference tables, and team workbenches.

The K-Series wins the iF Design Award

We've been awarded the iF DESIGN AWARD for 2016

We are delighted to announce that our new K-Series range of tables has won the iF DESIGN AWARD for 2016 and that we have taken our place among the few granted the right to display the famous iF label. The competition was strong: the high-level international jury of experts chose our product out from among more than 5,000 entries from 53 countries for their seal of approval!

The iF DESIGN AWARD has been a brand recognised worldwide for over 60 years for excellence in design. The iF brand has established itself internationally as a symbol for outstanding design work. The iF DESIGN AWARD is among the most important design prizes in the world.

The striking stainless steel frame and the joints connecting the frame's pipes together show all the hallmarks of the System 180 brand's structural DNA. With their visible edges in black, the range's tabletops lend them an elegant look and provide a large useful surface area. Even the smallest model in the range, the K21-12, provides room for 10 people to sit around it. If that's not enough for you, the table can be extended practically indefinitely in 72-cm steps.

In terms of device management equipment too, the K-Series takes full account of the needs of our times. Optional cable inlets and a large storage space at the under-table level allow users to integrate connections, power supplies and presentation equipment into the furniture easily and seamlessly.

BrainBox 2015 – Higher. More spectacular. Forward-looking.

A stage for Smart City Berlin 2030

During the fair Metropolitan Solutions at the CityCube Berlin, the BrainBox – a cubical-shaped construction made of stainless steel tubing with 10 meter in size, built by System 180 – could not be ignored.

What is the city of the future likely to look like? And how will it be planned? BrainBox, was developed by Raoul Bunschoten – a professor at the TU specialising in CHORA city & energy for sustainable city development and town planning. It is meant to provide a shop window and meeting point in which the issues mobility, energy supply and many other urban topics can be collectively re-conceived, planned and presented.

In response to climate change and the digital revolution, the topic of a radical rearrangement of human living spaces now raises its head. The vision of the smart city has as its goal a city that is both affordable and sparing in its use of resources.

Berlin's political community has declared its intention to create a model smart city. By 2030 Berlin is set to become a European pioneer in urban technologies and intrepid entrepreneurs, activists, researchers and citizens will be providing the living laboratory for the effort. With the ten transformation spaces defined in the conceptual design for city development up to 2030 and a smart city strategy for Berlin, a number spatial focuses and thematic stimuli will be set out for the city.

Using a multimedia system, a 3D model of the city and a touchscreen desk, visitors can design their own urban utopias and learn about trend-setting projects in the city.

Berlin's Technische Universität, thanks to the range of its research activities in the relevant specialist areas, has been contributing to the field of smart city innovation for many years now. A prominent theme in this activity is the need to create networks between multiple disciplines. The Technische Universität is thus well positioned as a competent academic partner to support and carry out the planned projects and to grapple with the future challenges facing the city.

The next option to visit the BrainBox is during the Long Night of the Sciences on 13/06/2015 in the Atrium of the TU Berlin, Straße des 17. Juni 135, D-10623 Berlin.

Clap. Click. Desk. The RackPod desk range

How flexible the desk of today can be, is demonstrated by our foldable RackPod table range. In addition to the compact `S´ model and the large `L´ model, now a model for working standing up is provided by the `RackPod H´. With a height of 107cm it is perfect. It relieves the back and introduces a lot more dynamic to every meeting. The castors with brakes on which the RackPod H can easily be moved provide even more mobility.

But also the `S´ and `L´ models show their versatility. With stepless adjustable threaded feet they can be adjusted to heights between 72.5 and 76.5 cm, to ergonomically fit their owner. Also practical: All models can be folded and require little storage space.

Flexibility is also consequently incorporated in the accessories: cable tray, Multibox and shelf, all of black powdered steel, not only ensure order but are also easy to use. All accessories are simply hung onto the table frame without tools. Done. Cables disappear as if by magic, the shelf under the table stores pens and documents and the box can be individually installed on two levels.

System 180 shows diversity at the Orgatec 2014

On a compact space of 64 sq. m. System 180 displayed its strengths as a supplier of flexible and up to date furniture at his year’s Orgatec. The exhibited and new products provided a convincing response to the office trends such as communication, technology integration and flexibility trends installed by the holders of the Cologne exhibition:

• The unique DT Line teamwork furniture range has a new addition with the hexagonal DT Line T6 table that facilitates active flat hierarchy work even better. And thanks to the integrated cable box, use of technical equipment is also no problem.

• The light foldable RackPod range tables become high performance work stations with the improved standard equipment and a diversity of accessories without compromising flexibility.

• The module system offers even more possible uses through new surface designs and many attractive details. From reception counter to precisely fitting storage solutions.

Brazilian Moments 2014

What a summer! Under the motto »Carnaval do Brasil« the Bread & Butter Berlin celebrated one of its greatest tradeshows at Tempelhof Airport with free public viewing. Our lads presented Germany with its fourth star in Brazil. And even the weather was reminiscent of a Brazilian winter. We thank all participants for unforgettable moments and are pleased that we could take part with our facade, geodetic dome and counters. System 180 – Free. Space. Design.

TU Berlin constructs the »BrainBox« as a temporary Smart City Lab with System 180.

Climate change, low resources and the digital age bring up difficult issues for the future. Cities and their populations hereby form spaces in which challenges accumulate. Solutions for the future can only be created in interplay of technical, social and spatial abilities. For this purpose the Smart City Platform from the Technical University Berlin brought research projects and several streams of scientific work together.

Part of the Smart City Platform is the BrainBox. It is the laboratory in which interactive tools for urban planning of the future can be developed and tested. Transparency, participation, communication of knowledge and dialogue stand at the fore.

In the scope of the Long Night of Science, the BrainBox celebrated its debut at the Haus der Architektur. With a multimedia performance of dance, tech-talk and futuristic city control room, the interdisciplinary team of scientists, urban planners and students under the direction of Prof. Raoul Bunschoten, CHORA city&energy, invited visitors to draw a collective vision of the city of tomorrow.

The room building structure of the BrainBox was a frame of stainless steel tubing from System 180, into which the technology and projection wall was directly integrated. This created a fine architecture in which the borders between inside and out were dissolved and the transition from protagonists and visitors was flowing.

An entertaining addition for the creators was the workshop held by System 180 in the run up to the Long Night of Science. Here the participants could learn how System 180 frames are constructed and how they are assembled.

For its creators the debut of the BrainBox was a great success that we are pleased to have accompanied and supported.
