i don’t remember the cold being this loud. for the first time in a long time i got sick, the kind where lungs hurt and people visit you in dreams.

the one i keep having, a raccoon chases after me for an embrace. it says, ‘did you wait long? i’m sorry. i want you now, i just didn’t know what it was at the time.’ when i run into the mirror, a row of chains have been sewn across my face.

last night, a storm fell. i think, the roar i let out was really the wind. i startled awake. it was still dark, and i couldn’t breathe; i was congested. from the corner of my room, one can hear the tree branches snap in half.
