Yo does anyone want to see some concept art of Loki at the tender age of one year old?
Just kidding, of course you do.

The Surtr Explodes AU being a modern AU comes with the wonderful possibility of those guys who do interviews with strangers on the streets doing an interview with the Æsir and getting their opinions on random bullshit.
Unfortunately I do think a lot of the questions would just be “What do you think about (insert thing from Marvel that does not apply to them at all)?” or “Why do you believe (insert thing that a Marvel character said that does not accurately reflect them or their beliefs)?” but in the rare instances where they don’t get recognized by the interviewers until the video’s already posted, I think the questions and answers would be very funny.
On the other hand, I do think some of them would come up with pretty funny clapbacks to the more insulting, often Marvel or N*il Gaiman-related questions, especially after being asked the same pop culture related questions a thousand times.
Or they just never leave the house again without a human disguise. They could always do that instead.

For someone who's been obsessed with different mythologies since I was a kid, I wasn't aware that Loki and Odysseus are considered the same person????
Which brings me to
Chapter 18: To the Fooling of Gylfe
The asas now sat down to talk, and held their counsel, and remembered all the tales that were told to Gylfe. They gave the very same names that had been named before to the men and places that were there. This they did for the reason that, when a long time has elapsed, men should not doubt that those asas of whom these tales were now told and those to whom the same names were given were all identical. There was one who is called Thor, and he is Asa−Thor, the old. He is Oku−Thor, and to him are ascribed the great deeds done by Hektor in Troy. But men think that the Turks have told of Ulysses, and have called him Loke, for the Turks were the greatest enemies.
Greek soldier: Hey, boss, the trick is cool and all, but I gotta ask… why a wooden HORSE specifically…?
“Odysseus”, adjusting his fake beard to hide the stitches on his lips: …no reason.

Religion’s a lot more complicated in my worldbuilding than just “humans worship gods” and it’s more like a powerscaling tier list. Because the Æsir are a functioning society just as much as they are gods to the humans, they’re equally prone to worshipping things they cannot control. For the Æsir, it’s fate, and the ones who control THAT are the Norns. Humans worship the gods, and the gods worship the Norns.
Fuck it, blocking a bunch of Marvel fans on this sideblog specifically. It’s nothing personal, they just keep appropriating my posts for their own superhero movie fandom and it’s getting on my nerves. Either engage with the fandom you’re actually reblogging from or just go away.
What’s making this whole purging thing really easy is that they all have really obvious fandom usernames like “loki-the-beautiful-and-sexy” or “touchmygloriouspurpose69” so they stick out like a sore thumb.

STOP PUTTING EGREGORE IN YOUR WORLDBUILDING
GODS WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE FULLY DEPENDENT ON HUMANS
YEARS OF STORYTELLING yet NO NARRATIVE USE FOUND for making your gods DIE WHEN PEOPLE FORGET ABOUT THEM
Wanted to kill your gods anyway for a laugh? We had a tool for that: It was called "MISTLETOE"
"Yes please give me GODS THAT DON’T HAVE ANY REAL POWERS BEYOND WHATEVER THE HUMANS DECIDE THEY CAN DO. Please give me HUMANS THAT CAN SPAWN AND INFLUENCE MAGICAL CREATURES WITH THEIR MIND POWERS" - Statements dreamed up by the utterly Deranged
LOOK at what mythology writers have been demanding your Respect for all this time, with all the pop culture & TVTropes we built for them (These are REAL adaptations, done by REAL writers):
?????
???????
?????????????????
"Hello I would like magical psychic humans and shitass hallucination deities please"
They have played us for absolute fools.
Worst thing about actually enjoying Loki’s character the way he is in the myths is that people will tell me about this “really great” adaptation of Norse mythology with a “myth accurate” Loki and then I’ll check it out and get flashbanged by some bullshit like this.
I don’t give a fuck about pitting different world mythologies against each other like sports teams because it’s banal and stupid Riordanverse type bullshit, but I DO like the idea that different pantheons would have a lot of cultural differences between each other and certain traditions and biases that cause conflict.
Ancient norseman coming up with the idea for Sleipnir: Hey, so what if we made a creature that was just fucking IMPOSSIBLE to draw?
the hœnir fandom is dying, reblog is youre a true hoe
