Kimetsu no Yaiba: Demon Slayer (2019)
Feels of Rain 🌧️
Rainy days are going. Yesterday it rained very hard. I love it when it rains hard. Feels like listening the white noise, which sounds silent but not empty.
I woke in the middle of one night, thinking I heard someone cry. Then I felt something, felt myself weeping. It seems to me that the rain is falling through my heart and causing it to crumble into ruins.
Rain is a thing which feels like magical to me. Rain can washes away the pain, rain can bring back memories, anyone can feel the rain with a soaking joy or can walk without worrying about the visibility of shedding tears on face.
Bill Watterson once said, "Rainy days should be spent at home with a cup of tea and a good book." And I discovered, it should vary in person to person depending on what he/she has been going through.
I believe that as a part of the nature, every person can feel the soothing tune and scent of the rain with the sense of being alive.
Rain is a beautiful simplicity with the essence of nature.

It’s me again. I need someone to be my friend. Someone who won’t run away. Maybe send me an angel, the nicest angel you have.
Inner Self
To know your inner self is to know your purpose, your values, your beliefs. Not as what you have been told by others, but what you have discovered for yourself. Knowing your inner self requires a high level of self awareness.
You Are More Than Your Identities.
Trying to uncover your inner self can be a tricky process. The process of discovery never ends – it’s a lifelong journey. For one, you hold multiple identities in your life, each with their own sets of socially defined values, visions, expectations, etc. These may not directly conform with what you represent.
A good analogy to use would be the sunflower. Your inner self is like the bulb of the sunflower (the center part where petals are attached to). Your identities are like the petals around your inner self. While the petals are extensions of the head, they are not the head. Similarly, your identities are extensions of yourself, but they do not represent who you are as a whole.
If you are not connected with who you really are, you are probably just living your life for others. Pursuing other’s goals, living up to other’s expectations and projections of you, rather than what you really want. To know your inner self is the first step of living a conscious life of your making. The more you uncovered about yourself, the more you’re able to live in a conscious manner.
Living in a Rural Area
Often times I have people that ask me how living in a rural area has impacted my lifestyle. I can say for certain that living in the rural area of Yokohama, Japan allowed me to live independent of the modernization of the city. In the countryside, the people here learn how to value their traditional values, we never forget about our history, the good and bad.
When I helped renovate the Quartier Latin, a symbol of preserving tradition, a singular thought always raced through my mind: I am a product of my upbringing. My father was no longer there to provide for my family so my mother had to take it upon her hands to realize her professional dreams by studying medical. My mother wanted to improve herself to provide for my family, she wanted to be educated. Although I often dream about the past, I do not allow that to anchor the possibilities that my future presents. I want to be a woman of virtue and passion like my mother.
Going forward, I suppose helping out with the Quartier Latin was something of a rite of passage for me. I realized that it was more than just an educational facility, it was something that I felt was inherently important to retain in our modern day society. Education and preserving our culture allows us to retain our sense of identity as a people.
Living in the countryside helped me realize that rapid modernization does no good for our country. This mentality of “out with the old, in with the new” is destructive. We need to do better as a group and synthesize our culture with the future. It is our sense of pride, our identity.
These reasons are why I continue raising my signal flags. It allows me to reminisce and remember my roots while also providing a service to those out there risking their lives seafaring. I continue onwards with this mindset, and I hope that one day that everyone else will realize that we do not need to modernize to Western “standards,” we need to cultivate our sense of Japanese identity and be more cognizant and aware of the world around us.
