i think it'd be interesting to explore the marmalade sandwich clones post network, and how we see them go from being "evil seductresses" to the victims they really are.

the clones assumed the appearance of these murdered teenage girls and had presumably been roaming the earth for over 20 years without physically aging, right? the network basically made them sex slaves as means of conversion, because it knew humans would rather market teenagers as "sexy" than middle-aged women. pretty fucked up.

without the network, the clones have lost their only purpose and must learn to live like humans rather than among them. will they go back to school or go straight into the workforce? they are ageless robots; cursed with the adolescence they were robbed of and the adulthood they know nothing about.

maybe tracy can be the new headmistress of monster high.

They showed Hot Fuzz on tv last night and for the first time in 16 years I noticed that Nicolas’ little cottage at the end has a garden overflowing with flowers while the other gardens nearby just have plain old lawns. He didn’t just love peace lilies. I can only imagine what the inside of his house looks like.

It also just occurred to me that the reason why Walker explains Doris’ sex jokes is because he’s the translator of the group.

Also also, it’s funny how some people got offended because the movie depicts cops as the good guys but it’s implied that things aren’t necessarily better now with Nicolas in charge of the village. Joyce calls him a fascist and he’s repeatedly called out for punishing minor criminals too harshly and at the very end he’s seen wearing black gloves like a movie villain, speeding off to take care of some rabble rousers.

So yeah, the people went from being under the thumb of Frank who let people get away with almost anything so long as they didn’t tarnish the image of the village, to Nicolas who will drop kick you for shoplifting a chocolate bar. It’s not hard to imagine a sequel where another young newcomer who comes from a minority group has to take down Nicolas and Danny all these years later.

It’s a smart movie y’all.

like sure he may be flawed and it might not be appropriate to tell an 8 year old girl about working at a condom factory, but i know damn well that man never had ill intentions towards mary.

mary and max are BOTH flawed because they're HUMAN. mary has to unlearn the idea that people need to be fixed due to her own insecurities, and max has to learn when his "sense of justice" hurts others.

ik not everyone considers max "good autism rep" and while he isn't perfect, i think it's important to show flaws in autistic characters just as you would any other character, and how the character learns from them rather than excusing their behavior.
