oh yeah! the main thing i like in mao mao: heroes of pure heart is the dismantlement of toxic masculinity, and building up of POSITIVE masculinity

wanna be loud and wear capes and wield a katana and kill monsters and stuff? hell yeah! ride a flying motorcycle! beat up pirates! have a robot arm that shoots lasers!

you can do all that and still tell your friends you love and cherish them, go to therapy, enjoy baking and cooking, and cry openly when youre upset. these things arent mutually exclusive. talking about your feelings doesnt make you not a total badass.

i think thats a message that doesnt go around enough, especially to young boys. they constantly get told not to act like a girl, that boys dont cry or say they love their friends or bake. im really glad mao mao shows how much of a lie that is.
