There was an envelope on the table. It was thick paper, and closed with a golden seal. Lance picked it up and stared at it. He knew what it was. He had already decided that he wasn’t going. He couldn’t bring himself to. He could barely bring himself to open it. He tossed it into the trash can. or: Lance is a farmer. He really doesn't want to be, but what else is he even capable of? He got left behind.
