t0il-and-tr0uble:
“After all these years the truth is out!” she laughed, stiffling another yawn as she covered her mouth. “well now you dont have to worry about me, I’m safe and only a little worse for the wear” she smiled hugging him a little as she rested her head on his shoulder. “And Fran is okay too, and has a boyfriend to boot so she’s really doing well it seems like” She chuckled softly. “We’re back together and you’re not gonna be getting rid of me without a fight” She snorted softly. “You’re a goober” She rolled her eyes as she fought another yawn.
“Yeah, yeah,” he gently bumped his head against hers. “And you don’t have to worry about me. Now stop fighting the sand man and let yourself go to bed, dipstick,” he softly kissed her temple, getting comfy and turning his attention to the TV.
“I’m always going to worry about you,” she murmured as she let her eyes close, a small smile pulling at her lips at the kiss to her temple. “Sorry in advance if I kick you or something in my sleep, I can’t be held liable for any reactions to nightmares” She mumbled, hugging him to her side as she drifted off.
HOPE.
skarsqards:
“I think I’ve been down there enough!” She argued, shaking her head as she took the glass of ice water, wasting little time in sipping at it. It was nice to have a normal drink for a change. She’d always preferred them cold, and surviving meant giving up amenities like ice and chilled drinks.
“Trust me, I’m just as relieved. The last thing I needed was getting stuck with some asshole, or somebody that annoyed the shit out of me.” She chuckled. She could tell by the look on Eve’s face that she felt guilty defending her now ex-boyfriend. “Of course he was.” She said simply. “Otherwise, I doubt you would have stuck around. But he wasn’t good enough for you.” She pointed out. “You miss him?” She knew it was unhealthy, but it was only natural to miss the people you were used to being around, and Eve had been consumed by the boy and his control entirely at one point. Glass in her other hand, she followed behind Eve, shoulders visibly relaxing at the sight of the shower. “Would it be… absolutely ridiculous to like… shower to get clean, and then take a bath just to relax? I can’t even tell you how much I’ve missed bathing.”
“That doesn’t mean I’m not taking you there if you are sick or something” She pointed out, shaking her head in return with a small roll of her eyes. “Don’t drink it too fast you might upset your stomach” She warned.
“Well even if they had put me with someone else…it wouldve been a chance to make a new friend…I haven’t done that since Gideon.” She noted. Her circle of friends had always consisted of her exboyfriends friends, and they mostly ignored her unless they were drunk and trying to make a pass at her–something that in turn got her yelled at for encouraging it somehow. “I know it’s stupid…” She murmured, kicking at a stain the carpet as they stopped in front of the bathroom. “But he’s the only person I’ve ever dated.” She added before pushing the door to the bathroom open. “No I don’t think so..I would’ve done the same had I not been so exhausted.” She laughed softly. “You hop in and I’ll find you a towel and some clothes.”
“I have to check back in, in like a week. To make sure the infection is healing how it’s supposed to.” She wasn’t looking forward to going back, worried that they’d decide to keep her for a few days once again. She couldn’t help how restless she had been, held captive to bad health. “Okay, Mom.” She grinned.
“I’m sure you’re not the only one not rushing to make friends. This is a new situation for everyone, and I doubt I’m the only one that has seen some shit. People process on their own terms. I’m sure you’ll make friends, Eve.” She knew it probably didn’t help that she wasn’t really allowed friends of her own, while she was dating. “It’s not stupid. It’s habit.” Prue had always been logical. Even if she didn’t let emotions run her thoughts, she knew it was normal for most people to do so. She sat her glass on the bathroom counter, before turning on the water, b beginning to undress, deciding to drop her dirty clothes into the trash can. She’d been wearing the same thing for months. No number of rinse cycles could get those clean.
“Good I’ll go with you too, make sure everything checks out” She gave a firm nod before making a face at Prue. “Shush yourself, you know I’m just looking out for you” She stuck her tongue out at the girl.
“I don’t know...I mean I have you Fin and Gideon, that’s good for me” She smiled sadly with a shrug. It was almost like she had to reinvent herself, she was able to be her own person for the first time in years and it was its own scary situation on top of the horrors outside of the apartments. “It’s a stupid habit” She muttered as she left her cousin to shower, finding a pair of comfy looking shorts and a big shirt as well as a clean towel. “I’ll leave these on the sink for you” She said as she tapped the door lightly while walking back into the bathroom.
t0il-and-tr0uble:
“Perfect” She smiled as the familiar theme song of her favorite show played in the background as she snuggled into the pillows and Sterling. It almost felt like any other day, only the throbbing in her ribs reminding her that things were completely different. “I remember them, that’s why I always came over, just for your bed.” She teased lightly, leaning up to kiss his cheek again as she settled. “I’m so glad you’re here..I dont think I can say it enough, I think I’d have gone crazy if anything happened to you”
“I knew you only wanted me for my bed!” he protested, taking a deep breath as he let himself relax a little more. “I’m really glad you’re here, too. I don’t have to drive myself crazy worrying about if you were safe or what happened to you,” As if he hadn’t already driven himself half mad worry about her and his cousin already, but Sagebrooke was very good for his peace of mind. “I’m too tough for anything to happen.”
*fucks up my mood by overthinking*
hunttthemoon:
“I get it,” he murmured softly, gently stroking her hair. “It takes some time to adjust to living without him. But I am sorry in advance if I make you flinch,”
“Now that it’s our time to shine, if you find something you like and you like how it fits on you, you can wear it,” Gideon encouraged. “You get to decide what fits you and what doesn’t”
“You’re my person, you know that?” She asked as she looked up at him. “Like more than my best friend..is that cheesy?” she asked with a soft laugh. “I’m glad you’re here Gid, even if you came here to the states at the crappiest time, I’m glad you’re here.”
“will you make sure I don’t look completely ridiculous before I wear whatever I find?” she laughed a little. “I haven’t had to try on clothes and look for things that fit in a long time.”
HOPE.

skarsqards:
“I’m okay.” She assured her softly. She knew how much Eve could worry. “I had to stay in the infirmary for three days, because I was dehydrated and a couple of the cuts on my leg were infected. They just wanted to, like, keep a close watch on them. Make sure it wasn’t turning into something else.” She was sure she didn’t have explain what they were afraid of. “I’m fine, though. I’ve got some decent antibiotics on the job, and they had me on a drip-drop IV while I was down there.” She hoped that being honest with her would ease her mind a little. “I hid the best I could, but I wasn’t close when this happened. I had a long way to travel, and the only way to do it was by foot. The roads are like an obstacle coarse, even if you’re running.”
“Just some water would be fine. Even better if you’ve got ice.” She motioned. Sure, beer sounded like a good idea in theory, but she knew it wouldn’t be such a great choice given the dehydration. “Yeah, see?” She held out the little note she’d covered in different rooms, the names of her friends written alongside them. At the very top, it read: home - eve clifford. It was like somebody was watching out for them, on some degree. “You’re better off without him, Eve.” She commented bluntly, though she reached out to take the girl’s hand. “Nobody should have to live the way he made you.”
“Okay...I’m still gonna keep an eye on you anyways” she murmured, nodding a little as she wandered into the kitchen, opening a few cabinets before finding the cups. “I’ll drag you to the infirmary myself if I think something’s up though” She warned as she filled a glass of water for the girl, “Yeah they had an ice maker, it overflowed a little so we have an abundance” She laughed softly.
Taking the little note she read the words, a smile pulling at her lips “Good, I’m glad I don’t have some stranger to share this place with” She nodded before her expression dropped “He wasn’t always bad..” She murmured, knowing how ridiculous it was for her to even try to defend him now. Giving Prue’s hand a light squeeze she pulled her cousin towards the bedrooms. “The shower’s just over here”
hunttthemoon:
He immediately felt bad - he didn’t want to scare her, just get her to look at him and stop spiraling. He wrapped his arms around her in return, resting his cheek on the top of her head. “I trust you more than I trust anyone, too,” he murmured. “I’m sorry I scared you.”
“I remember going with Emily, and she always thought the skimpier, the better,” he had a slightly wistful tone to his voice but shook his head slightly. “I had it lucky, just a simple pair of swim trunks, but I usually burn super easily.”
“I know you’d never hurt me” She said softly against his shirt as she pressed close to him for a moment longer. “It’s okay...I’ll get over the being jumpy eventually...now that I know he’s not coming back” She added
“I just....don’t really have the right frame for it I guess..or thats what I was always told..maybe I do...I don’t know” She rambled for a moment. “We’ll just have to see what we can find.” She decided with a small nod. “I do burn easily though, so I guess it’s good that the pool is indoors.”
hunttthemoon:
“Stop it! You aren’t stupid,” Gideon’s voice was firm, and he moved to stand in front of her, using his body to make her look at him instead of touching her. “You’re not stupid. He wasn’t right about a single fucking thing. Trust me, I know you better than anyone, including him.”
“I feel like one piece bathing suites are more in style but also much less expensive,” he followed her back inside, noting how the temperature dropped once they did. “I remember seeing like, a top for fifteen bucks and bottoms for twenty and that seemed absolutely absurd to me. You need both!”
“Sorry, sorry” she couldn’t help the reactive flinch at his tone, she knew he wasn’t yelling at her or trying to threaten her, but it was an instinct that was still deeply ingrained in her. Peering up at him hesitantly she chewed her lip, “I do trust you” She said softly, before wrapping her arms around his mid section again. “I trust you more than I trust anyone” She added,
“It covers more too..” She added, pulling her long hair off her neck as they walked inside, the breeze from the air conditioning causing goosebumps to rise on her skin. “I can’t remember the last time I bought one...god if I had even thought of buying a bikini...” She shook he head, making a face. “I think it’d look weird on me anyways, it’s been so long”
HOPE.
skarsqards:
“Tip top.” She chuckled. Clearly, she was in bad shape, covered in dirt and dust and whatever else she’d managed to stain her clothes and skin with over the course of the months earlier. But, she was alive, and she wasn’t counting that out. “Yeah, me and the medics are basically on a first name basis at this point.” She assured her. “Spent three days down there. And guess what? Not a zombie.” She joked, despite how serious she knew the situation had been. There was no point in not making light of it now, right? “Better question, are you okay?”
She stepped into the girl’s apartment, deciding to stand even though the furniture looked so inviting. “I’m absolutely filthy.” She explained, motioning at her clothes. “I wouldn’t mind like… a drink, though.” She knew she needed to stay hydrated, and she knew most homes had wooden kitchen chairs, or some sort of metal bar stools. Things that could be easily cleaned. “I’d kind of hope not. Especially since we’re living together.” She pointed out. It had been a random chance, random luck really, that she had been assigned that room, but it was a relief to know they wouldn’t be sharing it with her asshole of a boyfriend. “So, where is he?” She couldn’t help but ask. “Fin’s fine. That jackass managed to hurt his ankle, but other than that, he’s just fine.”
“Prue...” She frowned at how nonchalant that the girl seemed. She knew that it was how she always had been but with Eve as worried as she was she wanted to make sure that her cousin was actually okay. “I’m certainly glad for that. The not a zombie part” a small smile pulled at the corner of her lips as she stepped back to let the girl get some space. “I’m fine. I hid for the most part, helps that I’m used to hiding and staying quiet..” She murmured
“I think there is some beer in the fridge, I think it was two guys who lived here before” She noted before her eyes widened “You’re living here? With me?” She couldn’t keep the brief excitement from her voice. “Oh...” She felt herself deflate a little. “Um, I don’t know...he kind of took off when this all started” she mumbled, looking down at the ground again. “Good I’m glad he’s in one piece”
HOPE.
skarsqards:
It almost seemed too good to be true, as Prudence made her way through the short list of room numbers. Eve didn’t have an all too unique name, and she’d all but convinced herself by the time she made it to her door that she was probably just interrupting the day of some stranger with the same alias. But, as the fair-skinned girl came into view, she felt a rush of relief flood through her body. It was really her.
She could tell from the look on Eve’s face that the reunion would likely come with more emotions than she had anticipated, but that was her own fault. She had a tendency of forgetting that not everyone came out of this situation a spitfire like herself. “Hey, you.” She grinned, tugging the girl into a hug. “Can I come in?” It was instinct to ask. Everyone in their family knew how bad the situation with Eve’s boyfriend had gotten, over time.
“You’re here...you’re okay..” She breathed out as she wrapped her arms around her cousin. Growing up they’d been close, having no siblings of her own she was always thrilled when she visited Prue and Fin or when they came to visit her. But as she got older, and everything with her Ex they sort of drifted a little. It was always harder for them to spend time together when he was around.
Stepping back she cupped her cousins face in her hands and scanned her over. “Are you hurt? Did you already visit the medics?” She asked before hugging her again “Yeah of course come in” She all but dragged the girl into the apartment. “Um..he’s not here” She added as she stepped back before looking down at the ground. “Is Fin...?”
hunttthemoon:
“You know it,” he reassured her, pulling up The Office, and turning the volume down low. Just the small amenity seemed to go a long way to make Sterling feel like he was at home, or at Shiloh’s place lounging around after a long day and just on the verge of sleep. “They’re rich people beds, they’re like the ones I grew up with, honestly,” he admitted, almost sheepishly. “Yeah, don’t mention it Shi.”
“I’m so glad you’re here..I dont think I can say it enough, I think I’d have gone crazy if anything happened to you”
hunttthemoon:
“I know; it’s okay,” Gideon reassured her. “I only have the luxury of being broken up for longer than you, so this stuff just comes a lot more naturally to me at this point.” That’s not to say he didn’t miss his ex horribly, even though she wasn’t really the best to him, mentally or physically but he did love her a lot all the same.
“It’s the Age of Eve and Gideon - we finally get to do whatever we want without any kind of fear of repercussion,” he grinned widely at her. “So, wanna head back to your place and look for a swim suit?”
“I just feel stupid that I’m worrying about all these things I shouldn’t have had to worry about in the first place” She frowned deeply, now that things were over with her and her boyfriend all she had left was to be angry at herself for allowing him to treat her the way he had. “Well he was right about one thing I am stupid.” She added softly, crossing her arms over her chest like she was trying to hold herself together.
“Yeah, you’re right.” she offered a small smile before turning to look over her shoulder at the door. “That’s a good idea, two sets of eyes are better than one. I know I shouldn’t be too picky but I do hope it’s a one piece” She pursed her lips and took a step back to the apartments.
HOPE.
Prudence Morgan. She cringed as the blue ballpoint pen danced across the solid black line at the bottom of the form she’d been handed, one in a pile of many being held together by the metal bar at the top of the clipboard. She’d spent three days in the infirmary, if that was what they wanted to call it, upon her arrival, having been dehydrated and covered in questionable wounds. It wasn’t much of a surprise that she’d been in bad shape, having survived with very little help for a majority of the time she’d been on the streets. It was almost laughable, as she sat on the edge of the make-shift nurse’s bed, clad in clean sweatpants despite her dirty, bloody skin, that the they were even bothering with release forms, though she was certain there was probably something hidden in the small print. There always was. “Probably just signed my death warrant.” She grumbled, assuming the paperwork was likely some sort of understanding that evictions were based on health, or something of the sort.
As soon as she was given the chance to leave, however, she’d grabbed her backpack, and hurried down the hall, thankful that her body felt rested for the first time in ages. One of the nurses had explained how rooming in the building worked, and had given her the proper key and information, mentioning a full itinerary that was hung by the elevators, and naturally, that was the first thing on Prue’s mind. Was her brother safe? She could feel it in her bones, that he was still alive. But, she couldn’t help but hope he was here. Quickly scanning over the list, index finger gliding across each line, she took note of the names that sounded familiar, before digging through her backpack for a small notepad and whatever writing utensil she could find. Settling on a permanent marker, she began to jot down the names and their room numbers, writing so quickly that she could barely read them by the time she made it to the appropriate floors, determined to ease her suspicions.
Standing in front of each door was more nerve wracking than she had anticipated. She was normally such a brave girl, afraid of nothing. But, after everything she’d seen, she knew how foolish it was to get her hopes up that they were still alive, even as her knuckles beat against the front door.
The last thing Eve was expecting was a knock on her door, usually she knew exactly when Gideon was going to show up, they’d let each other know when they were on the way so that when they just walked in it wouldn’t startle the other. So the sharp rapping of knuckles on her front door made her jump, quickly scrambling up from her place on the couch, clutching her book to her chest. Her heart was beating faster than she wanted it to. Of course she knew it was probably nothing serious, but it didn’t ease her anxieties that she hadn’t been out much to meet other people.
Tip-toeing her way over to the front door she looked through the peephole before an audible gasp left her lips while she scrambled to unlock the door. “Prue...” She felt her lip quiver at the sight of her cousin standing there.
“I pretty much just found the first bedroom and stuck with it. But by the decorations I think it was two guys” She nodded, tucking her hands behind her head as she stretched a little. “I don’t mind the shampoos and body washes even if they do smell like guys stuff, it’s kind of nice” She shrugged.
“Yeah...I wasnt really allowed to often..but when I did I loved to just sit there in Central Park and listen to everything”
t0il-and-tr0uble:
“I know I just…it’s stupid” She wrinkled her nose a little and pushed her thoughts to the back of her mind, offering a sheepish smile to Gideon. “There probably is, I’ll have to search around, I know there was at least a guy who used to live there, lots of gym shorts and t-shirts.” She motioned to her oversized outfit. “If not maybe I can see if any other girls have one in their apartments…which would mean talking to other people” She added. “No it’s fine! It worked out better that way, he never knew and saved a lot of fights”
“It’s not stupid,” he shook his head. “They’re your feelings. You don’t have to push them aside or put them down anymore; I’m always willing to listen to you and your feelings, you know that,” he coudln’t help but laugh at the idea of talking to other people. “It’s not always that easy, but lets hope you have something you can swim in in your apartment.” He grimaced a little, nodding. The only downside of their friendship was how much they had to hide for each others safety. “Well… now we can do whatever we want, whenever we want. Time is ours.”
“I know...I’m still getting used to not having to worry about what I say or starting a fight because I feel a certain way about something” She toyed with the hem of her shirt. “I’ll keep my fingers crossed, because I’d really love to go swimming without having to worry about drowning in a t-shirt or something” She smiled a little, shaking her head. “I’ll figure it out eventually.” She nodded a little, perking up as he mentioned they could do whatever they wanted. She’s spent so long worrying about starting fights or something with her ex she didn’t really know what to do with that kind of freedom. “Yeah we can.”
