One of my favorite moments in wake up dead man that I haven’t seen mentioned yet is after Vera’s epic crash out when Monsignor starts threatening all of them.

He threatens to destroy the doctor’s reputation by calling him a drunkard. He threatens to tell the world the author’s book is no good.

And then he gets to Vera and all he can say is your dad is so disappointed in you. And like you could read Vera’s face as feeling hurt over that. But I dont think it’s that. I think that she feels even more rage. She can see that Monsignor and her father have been holding that over her head her whole life. It is just as she predicted.

I think she realizes he’s got nothing on her. Nothing. She’s already an established lawyer. All he’s got is misogyny and hatred and shaming.

And also that he have the slightest inkling what she cares about anymore. Doesn’t even realize that she doesn’t give a shit what her father thinks of her anymore. Her father is dead. She realizes that Monsignor doesn’t even know her. She’s known the man her whole life and he thinks of her as a prop. Doesn’t even know her personality. Can’t even tell that she’s just done

This isn't a purity thing. This is a "everyone stand with us against destroying the environment and giving asthma to poor people" thing.

Did you know that when one community says no to an AI data center, they specifically search out communities with fewer resources? Communities that can't defend themselves? And the pollution 100 percent affects their health and wellbeing, in addition to burning through our already scarce drinking water.

You can stop using character.ai today. You can say "I listened to the facts and stopped." And another thing: don't you think it's a bit more impactful to have used it, stopped, and then you're in a position to say how little it helped? How doing things for yourself improved your life?

I've been giving this writing advice to a lot of my friends lately so I'll do a mumbling post about it here.

You gotta play dolls with your characters.

Slap them in AUs, make silly fanfiction, make "what if?" senarios. You gotta recreate the feeling of taking your toys out as a kid and improv-ing a story on the spot. You'll get a sense of what makes them who they are outside of their main storyline.

Take a piece of yourself, expand and explore upon it. Create characters and storylines that are love letters to those you've cared most about. Take that little ball of hate and/or despair and give yourself a little therapy lesson.

Be bored! Be frustrated! Be unsatisfied! "Someone should make a story about ___" YOU should make that story! If you aren't satisfied with the media you see, make for yourself the story you DO want to see! Don't worry about how others will view it. For right now, for right at the beginning, the only way you're gonna make progress is if you're having a bit of fun.
