The tag I have seen most often on this post is "I needed to hear this," and I am so, so grateful to have said something that was needed. These words came out of the depths of my own grief, and I am so grateful to have made this small connection with others in the midst of it. Grief is isolating and indescribable, but none of us are alone.

That said, these tags were what I needed to hear:

Last post made me think of a few things lol

I'll go to a family of friends house and it's usually their tv that I'm shown an ad amc I'm always surprised bc both my brother and sister have WAYS OUT OF PAYING FOR SERVICES lol and they still get ads???

The flip side of that is I'm starting to realize that i miss regular old tv ads. Tv used to be funded a lot of times BY ads. Regular schmegular old commercial breaks. Almost all tv would end for breaks at the same time so you couldn't switch shows UNLESS it was a ted Turner channel bc he would delay by 5 minutes (just recently learned this)

But those ads were what made using regular tv possible and paying for networks, paid for shows, paid for crews to make shows, funded the pilots (we've lost pilot season entirely) a pilot would have a paid script, before paying for a pilot script you'd try to get paid for a concept sheet. (Ex sort of us Kung Fu Panda getting green lit by its concept/name alone)

All of those pilots paid for crews to work, craft services, costumes or wardrobe that you'd go and buy.

If it was animated it would be pilot script, storyboards, animation, paint, music, voice work, edit.

And then if it got put on regular tv you'd time out your commercial breaks. And that was fine. But now instead of normal breaks they're just WHENEVER.

Every website has ads that make it impossible to read the giving recipe or wiki page or medical info. YouTube ads playing longer and longer as time goes by that i paid for premium.

Watching the show i worked on and an ad for THAT SHOW playing randomly in the middle of the episode even tho our ad person said where they were supposed to go and it shouldn't be random 🙃

Paramount+ saying it won't work bc i have an ad blocker and i PAID FOR NO ADS (i canceled 10 minutes into having paramount+)

Appletv not letting me watch widows bay bc i keep getting locked out of my account bc it decided that paying via my check card and not credit card means I'm no longer 40 but they still charge me on the check card. BUT HOW WILL THEY KNOW I'M NOT 18

Even tho i can still watch it on my fucking PHONE

So i kinda miss old tv ngl. At least we'd get residuals on old tv
