The thing about a good character is that they are dynamic, they have more then what is the base line. A character can say one thing but really mean another but due to trouble explaining themselves or fear they sound rude. A character can care deeply about people but push everyone they know away as a way to keep them safe. On that note, this is another reason I like Yanqing. Yanqing seems strong but he in weak in other ways. He needs to grow he needs, much like a flower needs water, to have chance. He needs moments to show his character so more people understand him. They sum him down to a childish person who is just a son. But a person is never JUST a son, they are never JUST one thing. Yes he is childish but he is BRAVE, he is strong willed, he is SMART. Smarter then most people give him credit for. He may make brash moves but a mistake doesn't define you. If you spend years cooking and being a master chief, if you burn one dish you don't STOP being a master chief. You have just burned a meal like you did when you were young. Yanqing runs off to PROVE himself to HIMSELF. To show he has worth that he feels like he lacks. He wants to be the best because he is told he is able to. He fears not being able to reach Jingyuan's expectations because he has failed to realize that he has already done it, that Jingyuan care is deeper then what he can do, that he will ALWAYS be proud of him. This isn't even at the fault of Jingyuan, sometimes you just don't feel worthy. To be put on a pedestal isn't to be set away from criticism, and to be good doesn't mean everyone is kind. His own words harm, his own thoughts make him brash. Yet he can problem solve, he can help others, he is dedicated and he has passion. He is a child that will grow into a great leader, and will have amazing lore. I love this little guy, and he is gonna have so many cannon events happen to him it will be devastating
