š¤š„ š Why the BroZone Intro Song, 'Perfect', Sounds⦠uh⦠Shockingly Adult
If anyone was going to sneak something wildly suggestive into a Trolls song under the safety blanket of 'it sounds upbeat and sparkly, so no one will notice,' itās Justin 'I Write Double-Meaning Bangers For a Living' Timberlake. But since I'm going to keep this canon, I will blame John Dory.
Letās break down why this BroZone opener sounds like a PG-13 club anthem wearing a G-rated glitter jacket.
āŖ āWell, there she goes⦠On the floor, letās do this, no more talkin"
Sir. SIR. Why are you giving 'meet me behind the bar' energy?? This is the kind of line you hear right before someone gets pregnant.
This is not child-friendly. Yeah. Thatās⦠not about dancing politely. This is āQuit talking, weāre making out nowā language.
āŖ Did anybody notice? The energy just shifted when we dropped in āŖ
This is literally: Everyone felt the sexual tension the moment we walked in. The energy shifted?? Sir, this Pop Village, not a Vegas nightclub at 1 a.m.
āŖ Ooh, let it drop in, hmm āŖ
No comment. Just... no comment... You know what that sounds like. And... why are you vocalizing like that?! Absolutely illegal.
āŖ I donāt flex, but I might āŖ
Might what??
Translation: āIām humble⦠unless you want me not to be."
Oh, he knows what he might do. Thatās a tease line. A flirt line. A boyband smirk into the camera line.
āŖ Groove about to take flight āŖ
This is the PG-friendly version of: āWeāre vibing so hard we're about to ascend.ā
Translation: āWeāre getting really into it.ā
āŖ āCause the night is young and the musicās on āŖ
Again: classic 'tonight weāre hooking up' lyric from any adult song ever made.
āŖ And we got love on sight āŖ
LOVE on sight???? Not 'fun.' Not 'friendship.' LOVE.
This is 'love at first sight,' but the kind the club lights make happen. The temporary, sweat-sparkly, bodies-nearby version.
āŖ The sky was the limit. Now the stars where we livinā āŖ
This is basically: āWe started dancing and suddenly it got cosmic.ā Boy bands love metaphors for climactic feelings. Do with that what you will.
āŖ Itāll blow your mind āŖ
Iām sorry, John, but what exactly is blowing my mind?? What activity are you referring to, sir??
Childrenās movie, my ass.
āŖ Itās so perfect, perfect, perfect. A hundred percent āŖ
Boyband Rule #1: When they repeat 'perfect,' theyāre talking about bodies. Matching rhythms. Moving together. The fact that they say 100%?? Yeah. That's a compatibility line.
āŖ Put us together, you know what you getāŖ
PUT. US. TOGETHER.
Excuse me??????? Together how? You think they are talking about 'together' as in singing as brothers. No, no, no, my friend, they are talking about something else here.
Thatās a we fit together lyric. A 'our bodies match' lyric. A puzzle piece lyric, it is exactly what you think it is. Absolutely outrageous.
āŖ ā¦harmony so cold āŖ
Cold???? Why cold??? Why is it cold, John Dory???
Because 'cool' used to be slang for hot. Heās doing that thing where cool = sexy. Boyband nonsense.
āŖ Youāll never ever wanna let it go (Go, go, go, go, goooo) āŖ
The soft repetition? The breathy 'go'? The gentle fall-off??? That is moaning in troll-language!!! That is the 'ooh ooh ooh' rhythm every 2010s boy band used. A moaning cadence disguised as music.
Sir. This is illegal.
š¤ Final Thoughts
What is this song???
It is:
A club flirt song
With seductive choreography
Written by John Dory
Performed by a boyband made of literal trolls
At the start of a children's movie
Camouflaged under sparkles and harmonies
John Dory wrote a banger with adult undertones and just tossed it into a movie aimed at 5-year-olds like:
āTeehee, they'll never catch me.ā
He is a dirty, dirty man. And honestly? We love him for it.
Under the line: Bonus interview with John Dory (flirty)
Have some late FloyDory Christmas sweater canoodling ā”ā”ā”
I finally got some time to draw today, so of course this is what I do with it. :3
Damn, I LOVE IT, give me more of them both please and thank you
I am really going feral over John Dory and Floyd rn so here's some headcanons for the 15 people who enjoy this ship like I do (Bzcest)
3-5 year age gap
John legitimately has always had a thing for Floyd even when they were kids
Floyd had a crush on John but didn't know that's what it was he was feeling
John tries to get rid of his feelings over the years and succeeds mostly. The moment he lays eyes on Floyd as an adult, however, they respark inside him (It takes longer for Floyd to come to terms with his own feelings)
John sucks at emotions and words and is better expressing things physically. Either through touch or doing things. -Love languages are Quality Time and Acts of Service, a smidge of Physical Touch
Floyd doesn't do well with long spells of silence and needs to be reaffirmed that things are okay. -Love languages are Physical Touch and Words of affirmation
Neither of them can handle bugs. Though Floyd actually screams about them and it brings out the older brother instinct inside John. Until the bug starts flying. Then they're both screaming.
John loves to use pet names. Calls Floyd everything under the sun from "Pumpkin" to "Sugar" to "Sweet Pea"
Floyd usually just calls John by his name. Occasionally likes to call him "Honey". (That makes John's brain melt)
John is impervious to most sickness. Man could live through just about any conditions and tough it out. When he is sick he acts like he's dying
Floyd is the ever present "always listening to other people's problems and never expressing his own" type
John would strip himself bare and give Floyd all his clothes at just the mention of him being chilly. (There was a blanket halfway across the room but who's paying attention to that, anyway?)
There's definitely a Brozone song or two that's dedicated to Floyd but you'd have to kill John before he'd admit that
John does poorly with change that he isn't in control of and struggles to accept new things
John pours his milk before his cereal and doesn't understand why everyone has a problem with that
Floyd is most attracted to John's passionate nature and his drive to do what he believes is right
John is most attracted to Floyd's patience and his willingness to understand every perspective
Floyd mostly does punk rock music as an adult and John does his best to be supportive (he doesn't understand the music)
I might do more of these... maybe some nsfw ones? šš¤
Baby
I love her so much. It's Sweet Pea! And the dad that carried her egg-not that she, or anyone else really knows about that.
Wonder how they're going to explain this?
AU made by Tea_Stache, where JD and Floyd have their places switched, and for JD, nobody will never come to save him
I think Floyd has such a high and insatiable sex drive. Sexual trauma definitely has that sort of outcome a lot of the time. He can go and go and go. Multiple times a day. Days on end. Because a lot of his life has been like that.
But John Dory? I don't think he has much of a sex drive. He can definitely fuck. Oh he knows how to fuck.
But for the most part he isn't generally one to go searching. And he can honestly go with out for months and months.
That is
Until Floyd >]
I think it would be so funny for Floyd to not even KNOW that JD has a low sex drive, cause he can keep up with HIM.
But nah
He's just a brocon who's definitely in love with his little brother.

The BroZone Breakup. Why John Dory Was Never Really to Blame
John Dory: āFine. I donāt need this. Iām out. Iām done. Iām sorry. Iām gonna go hike the Neverglade Trail by myself. Bro-lone. Yeah, thatās right. Brobro going solo. YOLO. Goodbye forever.ā
Those are the lines that canon frames as The Breakup. The moment John Dory ruined everything. But what if thatās just the version Branch saw, not what actually happened?
š„ The Official Story, aka the 'Branch Version'
In Branchās memory, itās simple:
Johnās ego got too big
He stormed out
The family fell apart
Classic narrative symmetry, right? The loud one leaves: the quiet one suffers. But⦠memories are emotional edits. And Branchās perspective is that of a kid watching his world collapse, not a historian. He didnāt see the buildup, only the explosion.
š¬ Behind the Curtain: What If the Others Were Already Slipping?
Letās rewind. We know BroZone had five different personalities, five different rhythms. They were brothers and co-workers, which is the worst combo if you never talk feelings. By the time John snapped, the group wasnāt 'one band.' It was five individuals orbiting a brand.
Clay: the fun uncle energy, loves performing but hates conflict, so he hides behind jokes Floyd: quiet caretaker, exhausted from mediating everyone elseās egos Spruce: restless, wants independence, doesnāt fit the perfect-pop mold anymore Branch: youngest, still finding his voice, trying to live up to everyone John: leader, fixer, the glue who refuses to admit the cracks are there
Now picture this pressure cooker: The concerts get bigger. The harmonies get tighter. The joy turns into work. The smiles start feeling rehearsed. By the time John storms out, the others are already halfway gone emotionally. He just happens to be the first one actually walking out of the room visually after Spruce already told him, "My exquisitely chiseled, rock-hard abs and I quit."
š¬ What Really Happened: Step by Step
If you slow down that scene, itās not Johnās meltdown that causes the breakup. Itās a chain reaction, years of tension boiling over, and everyone finally snapping in sequence.
John tries to fix things Heās doing what he always does: trying to get everyone to sing together again. He says, āI know we can reach the perfect family harmony.ā Thatās not arrogance, thatās hope. Thatās the desperate leader voice of someone whoās been trying to hold a cracking family together with tape and optimism
Spruce (Bruce) rebels first āWhat if we donāt want to?ā Thatās not just about the band. Thatās about the expectation, the pressure to be a 'heartthrob,' a brand, a role
Clay follows Clayās words hurt the most: āThis used to be fun. Now itās all about being perfect.ā Thatās the moment John realizes heās lost them emotionally. Clayās also searching for meaning: āIām more than just the fun one.ā Thatās identity burnout
Only then does John say heās leaving Itās not impulsive, itās reactive. Heās just been abandoned in real time by the people who were supposed to be his team. āFine. I donāt need this. Iām out.ā Thatās not ego. Thatās heartbreak disguised as pride
Then Bruce, Floyd, and Clay actually leave, too
Meaning: John didnāt leave the band, the band had already left itself. He just happened to step out first because someone had to.
š„ āGoodbye Foreverā. The Outburst That Made Him the Bad Guy
When John says, āGoodbye forever,ā it sounds dramatic and selfish. But maybe it wasnāt a threat, maybe it was a defense mechanism.
He was the leader. The one responsible for keeping it together. So when he failed, his brain did what leadersā brains often do: āIf I canāt fix it, Iāll take the blame for it.ā Boom. Instant scapegoat.
And it worked. Everyone else got to process the breakup as āJohn left.ā Because saying āwe all let it fall apartā hurts way worse.
š§© Their Behavior When They Reunite
The Brothers, Branch, Clay, Bruce, and Floyd donāt act like someone who hates John. They are wary, sure, but mostly tired. Like the old arguments have already faded. If John had truly destroyed the band out of ego, they would all be spitting fire. Instead, they roll their eyes and say, basically: āYeah, thatās John. Still trying.ā Thatās exhaustion, not resentment like a sibling whoās seen the pattern before and canāt even stay mad anymore.
š¬ āYou didnāt think weād all live together when this was all over, did you?ā
That line must have killed him a little inside.
Because deep down, he does want that. But heās already convinced himself heās not allowed to. Heās still punishing himself for 'breaking the band', so now he keeps everyone at armās length, pretending heās fine with temporary alliances. Itās self-defense disguised as practicality. If he says out loud that he wants family again, he risks being rejected again.
So he laughs it off. While Branch, who grew up watching all this collapse, finally says what none of them could: āOh, Iām sorry. Is that funny to you? That I might want us to actually be a family again?ā
Thatās the real emotional climax of the scene, the moment the youngest brother speaks the truth thatās been buried under guilt and pride for decades.
š¤ So⦠Who Did Break BroZone?
Short answer? No one person did. The system did. The fame, the pressure, the silence, the lack of communication, all of it chipped away until one brother finally broke the surface.
My God, yes, I hate that they blame John for everything. Yes, he left first, but it's not his fault. Everything fell apart, and he was the first to run away.
At least he came back; the others didn't even try.
The Missionās the Missionā: The Line That Tells You Everything About John Dory
@trollsistrolls Gotta be honest, I love this perspective! Includes a few things I've thought about before, and expands on those ideas really well. I love his character, especially as an eldest sibling myself. The only thing I would really ask is - what would you say to when he says 'the missions the mission' after brozone's argument? Curious to hear your thoughts on that. I'd imagine maybe he just at that point doesn't think it's possible for them to get back together.
Thank you for you comment, lets look at this further!
āThe missionās the missionā = control through purpose
When JD says it, itās right after BroZone starts falling apart again. Theyāre arguing, emotions are everywhere, the old wounds are reopening, and JD just snaps back into structure.
āThe missionās the mission.ā Translation: āDonāt feel. Focus. Fix it.ā Because feelings? Feelings are what broke them last time.
So he builds a wall made out of leadership, humor, and goal-setting, and hides behind it. If he can turn this into a mission, then itās not a mess. If he can make this about saving Floyd, then itās not about losing his brothers all over again.
š Itās not coldness, itās fear
People read JD as bossy or detached, but honestly? That line screams fear. Heās terrified that if he slows down, if he lets the emotions in, everything will collapse again. He already lost them once. Heās not going to risk it a second time. So he does what heās always done: he keeps moving. Keep the mission alive, keep the band together, keep pretending that this time itāll work.
Because if the 'mission' fails, then what is he left with? Just him. Alone. Again. Because let's be fair, not Branch, not Bruce, and not Clay were happy to see him, but he still kept going.
š¶Ā The echo of BroZoneās first breakup
The wild part? āThe missionās the missionā is exactly the mindset that broke BroZone in the first place. JD pushed them too hard, not because he wanted fame, but because he thought success would make the pain worth it. So when he says this years later, itās like heās haunting himself. The same drive, the same desperate need to keep control. He hasnāt grown past it until this movie forces him to.
āÆĀ Itās a mirror to Branchās old mindset
Branch used to live by the same logic, just in a darker way. āStay hidden. Stay alive. Donāt feel. Donāt sing.ā
JDās version is louder, more active: āKeep moving. Keep fixing. Donāt stop. Donāt think.ā
Theyāre both emotional armor, two different ways of saying, āIf I stop, Iāll have to feel everything Iāve lost.ā
š āThe missionās the missionā = "I canāt lose you again."
Thatās the real translation. Heās not choosing the mission over them. Heās choosing it because he thinks itās the only way to keep them. Itās tragic because heās trying to lead with logic when what they need is love. He canāt say āIām scared,ā so he says āThe missionās the mission.ā He canāt say āI missed you,ā so he says āLetās get the band back together.ā John Dory doesnāt know how to be vulnerable, so he performs leadership instead.
š By the end? He learns the truth.
Because the whole movie is about this exact line being broken open. He realizes the mission was never the mission. It was them. The brothers. The family. The connection heās been chasing through every song and every plan.
By the end, āThe missionās the missionā becomes āThe familyās the family.ā And that? Thatās the most John Dory thing ever.
He started trying to save Floyd with structure and ended up saving him with love. ā¤ļøš¶
perfect picture
I did a hot drawing of JD and Floyd, here's my Twitter(X) handle if you want to see the full picture: @_MissAzulin
I struggled a lot with the body xD, drawing anatomy and poses is still a challenge for me.
As long as Clay is the top in the relationship, I 100% agree. I just love the concept of little brothers being their big brother top.
YES YES YES
Bend John in HALF ISTG!!!!
I have this idea that JD hates hates HATES TO BOTTOM
HOWEVER
He would trust his bros with /anything/, even in spite of his better judgment. PLUS. Clay is a control freak. (He's a very subdued one, but still, prefers control)
I feel almost like they would be at eachothers throat all the time, but in a more... this is definitely a form of foreplay. And they are making others uncomfortable š¤£š¤£
Do you ship Clay and John? This may be wired but always saw Clay anger turd John Dory as unrealized sexual tension that Clay wants to cross but subconsciously understands he can't so he's extremely backup, so when John admitted to feeling the same Clay can't keep his hands off his big brother.
OH ABSOLUTELY I AGREE
The thing about me is that I am a multishipper! And if you can give me /any/ reason for their hands to be on eachother?
Yes. 100%!! I agree!!
John has such a weird vibe with Clay specifically!! Why are you mandating what UNDERWEAR your brother wears??! Why are you changing his hair color?!
The absolute contempt Clay has for JD is so funny to me! They are just completely on different fields of reality, never really seeing eye to eye. But that being unresolved sexual tension makes SO MUCH SENSE!!
I need a fic about this immediately š©š©š©
