“meihui-taichou…” sayuri says softly, standing with her head held up high. she bites her lip and shifts uncomfortably from foot-to-foot. it’s ODD, feeling awkward like this. “hinamori-fukutaichou and i have an… interesting relationship, thanks to AIZEN.” she still thinks she’s stronger than hinamori, but maybe strength isn’t all that’s needed to lead a squad. 

“i – want to be STRONGER, taichou. i’m always looking for ways to get stronger, and … if you would honor me with your training schedule, i will be in your debt… which you can cash in for ANYTHING.” it’s not a bribe, per-se. but a promise. 

Aizen.. Just hearing his name uttered leaves a bad taste in her mouth. At this point in time, Xia’s trust meter was all over the place, even with those she knew well. Who would betray them next? Who could she hold confidence in to not deceive her?

This person was no different. Reading people at this point in time was practically impossible, and Xia had absolutely no idea on how to respond to this request (which at this point sounded more like a plea). It seemed innocent, yet her relations with Aizen filled her own head with doubts. Xia’s eyes unconsciously drifted away from the person standing in front of her and she leaned back into her chair, turning it to the side as she tried to get her thoughts all figured out. 

“.. The recent events with Aizen has left the Seretei in shambles, affecting relationships, trust, everything essential needed to maintain ourselves as a society,” a soft sigh escaped her lips. “I can’t say it has had a similar effect on me, but letting it get the better of my judgement is exactly what he wants, so I’ll let you in on everything. Under one condition.”

Someone was watching her.

At first she believed it to be just her imagination, perhaps the air in Karakura Town was finally getting the better of her, but the slight feeling of the unfamiliar spiritual pressure was something that the captain could no longer ignore. Her footsteps slowed down to a halt, her amber eyes closing as she crossed her arms. Silence was all that was left to linger.

“.. Are you the one that Captain Soi-Fon sent?”

“.. And these were found on my desk when I returned.”

Without hesitation, the stacks of paper were released and dropped onto Toshiro’s desk, emitting a loud bang upon collision. Xia peeked her head to the side to once again see the other captain, her expression unchanging.

“Upon closer examination, this is squad 10 paperwork and not my own, so I’m assuming you may know why it was there in the first place.”

To be honest, Xia already had a good idea of who did this, having worked with the suspicious party in question back when she herself was a lieutenant, but all she really wanted was confirmation from the squad’s leader himself.

“How I train?”

It was strange how a squad 5 member came to her out of all people to ask such a question. Xia had progressed rather swiftly upon joining the Gotei 13, jumping from unseated member to lieutenant and soon captain in a matter of a few years, so perhaps Sayuri had merely caught wind of this information from Squad 13. But still, there are plenty of strong members in the girl’s own squad, and she seems to be faring well from what Xia has observed. Her gaze caught Sayuri’s own as her chin continued resting on her palm.

“Why not just ask lieutenant Hinamori for advice? I’m not sure if you’d truly be up for practicing my routine.”
