Aversa for the kid meme please?
send me a pair name and I’ll tell you what I think it would be like if they had a child.
Name: Tressia

Special Talents: Dark magic and cooking.
Who they like better: Robin
Who they take after more: Aversa
Personal Head canon: When she’s bored or frustrated she copies her father and throws magic around to calm down. It’s usually harmless, but has led to several broken windows in the palace.

“Maybe we cannot hide our trail,” the King shrugged, listening closely to the surrounding area, “but we can gain some miles on them, perhaps.”
“From here though perhaps you should lead. This is beyond the boundaries of land that is familiar enough to me.”

I would too.
Kiara gives Robin’s hand another little squeeze, another slow exhale leaving her at that. She knew full well that what she was asking of him would be difficult… but still, she selfishly wanted to keep him close to her. The tactician enjoyed his company immensely and while her feelings did not match his own, she still valued his presence just as much. She wanted this friendship of theirs to thrive and their separation had nearly snuffed it out. Kiara wanted them to talk as much as they used to—be around him more. Kiara missed this, the late night conversations and the familiarity. She had missed it so much and this time, she wanted it to stay.
“…No more being strangers, okay?” she says this more to herself than to him, running her thumb over his fingers once more, “No more of that.”
“I feel like saying something else, like I’ve missed something… I didn’t plan out what I had wanted to say to you and when you just showed up, it didn’t really spur any thoughts into coming together. I don’t want to sound like a broken record and repeat anything I’ve already said.” She covered most of what went through her mind… and, to be honest, that was good enough. Perhaps the rest would follow after they settled into their old routine. “—but, since nothing comes to mind, I guess I’ll leave it be.”
Wouldn’t want to say anything that I’ll regret, right?
“In any case, if you’d like, from here you can just…. tell me about whatever is on your mind. Whether it pertains to what we were just talking about or something else that’s happen while weren’t speaking… I wanna hear all of it.”
Robins heart squeezed painfully as he listened to Kiara speak. Something she had missed. He had no idea what it might be, but he knew what he wanted it to be. The one thing he was sure he would never hear from her. This whole conversation had cemented in his mind that they were destined to always be friends. To only be friends.
No matter how much he desired it in the depths of his heart, he doubted she would ever utter those precious words of love to him.
“Yeah... I don’t want to lose having you as such a good friend.”
He was managing to keep a somewhat peaceful look on his face, but this conversation was hurting more than he’d thought it would. Yes he was going to be able to talk to Kiara again. To be close to her. To feel the warmth of her hands in his, to hear her smile, smell the gentle scent of wildflowers and sun that followed where she walked. But all of that, no matter how much he wanted to have it in his life, would only serve to remind him just how out of his reach she really was.
Kings and their advisers, perhaps there was a reason there were no stories about such relationships. It just wasn’t something that was meant to be.
“Hearing that is a relief, but... there’s been so much on my mind as of late that I’ve no idea where I would even start.. or if this late at night is even the right time to start..”
Despite saying that, he continued to hold onto her hand. It was the one bit of contact he was allowed at the moment, and he would not take it for granted. Time spent with her was precious, and he never wanted to waste a moment of it. No matter how it made him feel.
adustioatrox:
“Yeah….”
“—but that lack of communication must end tonight. We can’t just… not talk each other. It’s silly…— Not that the emotions we both went through were silly in the slightest but not talking and being able to confide in the other… that’s silly. I mean, we could’ve cleared this up so long ago.”
Kiara runs her thumb over Robin’s fingers, exhaling and shaking her head before she continues to speak. As she does, her eyes flick up and are now focused on the king’s own. Still somewhat sad… but manageable now.
“I promised that I’d be there for you and that you’d be able to come to me with anything that’s on your mind—emotions, problems, anything that was weighing you down. Whether it be you expressing feelings for me or some other person, the least I could’ve do is hear you out and just… talk you through it instead of blurting out the first thing that came to mind before separating myself from you without a word. That’s not exactly the mark of a wonderful friend… much less of a friend who sincerely cares about you.” The woman pauses here, as if mulling over the rest of her thoughts before translating them into words. “…I need you just as much as you need me. It should never get to the point where we act like complete strangers… ever. You should never fear that you’ve lost my friendship over a misunderstanding like that. We’re closer than that, right?”
“Not talking.. all it does is lend to misunderstandings and fear. You’re right. It can’t keep happening.”
Robin turned, as if to look at the stars in the sky above them. It was another thing he missed, being able to see the stars and trace the constellations with his eyes. But he had learned to live with it. Not being able to talk to Kiara however, that he would never have been able to learn to live with. It just wasn’t something he could do.
There were so many things he wanted to say in response. To be able to reassure her that they wouldn’t have another breakdown in communication again. But he couldn’t bring himself to say it since he couldn’t actually promise that it wouldn’t happen. They were both stubborn, both idiots in their own ways. And trying to keep a friendship alive, it wasn’t easy.
“We were... and I would like to be again.”
He turned back, leaning forward some. Part of him wanted to lean against her like he had in the past. Her shoulder had made a comfortable pillow during long conversations. But he was unsure what boundaries he needed to keep to now, if such moments would even be allowed. Being in love with ones closest friend wasn’t an easy thing.

Pure relief trickles down Kiara’s spine at her friend’s words, her shoulders dropping further as a result. Now, she felt like she could start to truly relax… The words that had left her mouth then had been something akin to a vice and up until now, she believed that she still had to explain what she had meant to say. She remains silent to, in turn, listen to him while he spoke but nothing right now made her happier than knowing that he understood what she meant.
“I don’t want to lose that either.” are the words she follows his own up with, sliding an emerald gaze up from their hands and to his face. However, her eyes are quick to drop back down after taking in the sad smile on his lips. Maybe she’d look up again once it’s gone… but not now.
“I didn’t exactly make it very… easy for you to cope with what I said. Instead of staying and just talking to you like I usually do, I distanced myself, let you deal with it on your own, got mad at you when you expressed how upset you were with me, and continued to just… not speak to you.” Kiara says, “I won’t deny that I wasn’t ready but what I did still wasn’t right. You’re my friend, my dear friend, and I just stopped talking to you, didn’t tell you why—much less give you an indication that I needed time to myself.”
–and then they had argued.
His feelings and well-being have always been important to her and that had been a point in time where he could’ve used some support. His emotions and thoughts had piled up as a result of not having anywhere to go and when she had approached him, it all just… exploded.
“It could’ve been handled better and with much less shouting on my end. We failed to do the very thing that brought us together as friends in the first place.”
“To be fair, neither of us has made this situation easy on the other.”
It was true that not having anyone to talk to hadn’t done any favors for his mental state. Not just about the issue of his feelings, but about the stresses and expectations that weighed on him from his position. There was no way to relieve any of the stress that piled up on his shoulders. No playful games of chess, no complaining about the various nobles who hated him, No form of support.
A king can only be so strong on his own.
“We both made mistakes and bad choices.”
Their last argument still weighed on him. Things had been said that shouldn’t have been and afterwards he had been convinced Kiara would leave. That his anger, no matter how justified it was, would drive her from his lands. Of course he was relieved that she hadn’t left, but it still was hard for him to think about the possibility.
“I’ll be honest. Not being able to talk to you.. it hurt. And it wasn’t easy. There were so many times I just wanted to run and find you, but.. I think I was afraid. Afraid that I had already lost your friendship and trust, and the longer it went on the less I could bring myself to even entertain the thought. Yes, you stayed away from me. But I stayed away just as much.”
“It’s kind of ironic in a way. Talking like this.. it’s what brought us together, what made us friends. And yet... it’s the very thing we’ve both been avoiding.”

Kiara watches Robin’s slow movements, only relaxing when he’s settled down into the cushioned seat before him. However, she didn’t let go of his hand. Instead, she simply relaxes her grip a bit and allows her hand to rest on the cushions under them both.
This was close enough right? Close… like he had requested.
The tactician exhales, knowing that now they needed to get into why Robin had visited her so late at night. Her travel to their hands, lips twisting some as she tries to gather her thoughts and start the conversation. He was in her room, after all… so shouldn’t she be the one to start them off?
“…So…” she says softly, hesitating some, “Where do we even begin?”
“Do we start by apologizing or…. should that be saved for the end? To be honest, even though I suggested that we sit down first, I… I don’t know what to say first.” –and it’s not because she had nothing to say. She knew what to say to the king but stray, incomplete thoughts didn’t make the best sentences. “We can’t just sit here in silence, though, so I guess I’ll just say what comes to me and hope that it makes sense.”
She exhales again, a little reassurance that whatever she says will probably be fine before she continues.
“I’d like to clarify what I said to you, if that’s alright. I don’t want to make you upset by bringing it up but… I need you to understand what I meant to imply when I said it. It wasn’t meant to be a rejection and I didn’t say it with the intention of hurting you. Much like now, I just said the first thing that came to mind… which was wrong. I should’ve thought about my response and I didn’t.” Kiara pauses, as if to catch her breath. “I hurt you… and, first and foremost, I’m sorry for that. I truly am.”
The king listened quietly as Kiara spoke, taking in every word she had to say. This had all happened because of miscommunication, hadn’t it? So interrupting might cause more of the same.
There were so many things to say. Explanations to make, feelings to bring to light. Truths that could not and should not be hidden, no matter how strange it made things. They had to make sure that they were both on the same page from here on out. Otherwise things might fall apart once again.
“I understand what it is you mean to say, though..” A sad smile crept to his lips before he continued, “I’ve always found that when one reacts like that, speaks their mind so quickly... usually their words are based in the truth of their heart. Even if it was not meant as a rejection, it reflected a truth that neither of us can continue shying away from. Some part of you wasn’t ready yet to accept my feelings. Perhaps even just hearing of them was too much at the time. “
He paused, taking a deep breath. While he’d thought about this a lot and knew what he wanted to say, none of it was really coming together in his head like it had when he’d practiced in his room. The words that seemed so simple when alone no longer seemed that easy.
“I put you in an awkward position. No matter how I feel about you, I should have taken your own feelings and comfort into account. That night.. I too said what had come to mind without thinking. But I’ve been doing a lot more thinking lately, and I’ve realized something. My feelings have not changed, but I can’t expect you to return or even accept those feelings. And while that thought hurts, and that night still bothers me.. I’d rather accept that truth and still have you as a friend instead of try to convince you to feel something more for me.”
As he spoke he knew it sounded like he was giving up. But he wasn’t. He still cared deeply for the woman, and likely would for a long time. But he also knew that he couldn’t just focus on his own feelings. If he did he would lose her entirely.
“I don’t.. you’ve been a wonderful friend to me, and I don’t want to lose that.”

It had been a while, a long while, and she couldn’t bring herself to fault him for wanting to be close to her. Her teeth latch onto her lower lip gently as she feels his other hand join the first in holding her hand. She responds with another little squeeze, as if to encourage him, and continues leading him further into the room. She could hear the emotion in his voice, could practically feel it through his hands. He had missed her greatly, that she could tell. He had missed her… and she had missed him too. “Then… then the window would probably be better…” That particular window had a little alcove, decorated with cushions, pillows, and light blankets. It wasn’t very big, what with it being meant for one person, but she’s sure it’d fit both of them comfortably.
“Tell me if you get cold, though. I like to keep these windows open more oft than not so… if it gets too chilly for you, I’ll close them.” The tactician begins to settle into the cozy little spot when she gets close enough, fixing up some of the pillows with her free hand. “Though… maybe I won’t have to. You’re probably used to the cooler nights, no?”
A soft, short, amused breath leaves her as she sits down, leaning back against the wall. She tugs on Robin’s hands subtly as well, signalling for him to take a seat as well.
“The cushions are to your left…”
The slight squeeze to his hand bolstered his confidence, giving him a measure of comfort. So far so good. He hadn’t gone past any boundaries yet, hadn’t messed up. To him that was huge. It meant that he wasn’t ruining anything and that there was still a chance to try and fix things.
“The window... alright.”
That was right, there was a window in here wasn’t there? With cushioned seats built into it. It was something he rarely remembered since he was more used to his own room, which did not have such a thing.
He was careful as he followed her lead, setting one foot in front of the other slowly. In his rush to come here before his courage ran out he had left his cane sitting beside his bed. While it wasn’t a problem in the main halls that he walked daily, he was at a significant disadvantage now that he was actually in Kiaras room.
“Ah.. the night air doesn’t really bother me much, so..”
The slightly amused tone at the end of her comment went over his head and he missed it entirely. He put a hand out, reaching for the cushions as Kiara tugged him closer to them. It was only once he had located them and knew where the empty spot was that he sat down. His nerves were showing in how overly careful and slow he was doing everything.
Ah, yes…. of course. The tactician instinctively lifts her hand and moves to take Robin’s, acting without an inch of hesitation. It’s only when her fingers are curled over the side of his palm does her conscious protest, bringing up the fact that she hadn’t even asked if he was comfortable with that… moreover, if he wanted to be touched.
Would it be weird to let go? Would it be worse to hold his wrist instead?
“…Would you like to sit by the window or the on the couches.” she asks, slipping past the king and giving his hand a gentle tug, “Either one would be fine with me but…”
Perhaps, it was better that she reacted instinctively. She didn’t want to appear distant… so taking his hand might’ve been a smart move. The thought of him pulling his hand from her grasp bubbles to the forefront of her mind following the positive thought, earning a slight furrow of her brows. Calm yourself. Oh, but that was so hard. What if this conversation went as badly as the last? What if they started fighting again? What if this results in a larger rift? She didn’t want that… she didn’t want any of that. Kiara’s teeth latch onto her lower lip, nibbling on it as she guides Robin further into her room. The grip on his hand tightens, if only a little bit for a second, before relaxing.
Please… please let this be better than the last.
“…What would you prefer?”
The sudden warmth of Kiaras fingers around his own almost made Robin jump, eyes glued to that one small area where they were joined. Such a simple thing, holding hands like this. But oh how he had missed it. There was so much warmth coming from her hand. Warmth that he had missed so much he couldn’t even put it into words.
“Would it.. would it be too forward of me to say I’d prefer to sit somewhere near you? It probably would, but.. it’s been so long since we’ve even been in the same room..”
There was an emotional tinge to his voice, sadness bubbling just beneath his seemingly calm exterior. That he had missed her was plain to see, though he was not yet ready to put into words why. Not again. His heart couldn’t handle the idea of her rejecting his feelings again. But if at least their friendship could be salvaged that would be enough for him.
He brought up his other hand, curling both of them around Kiaras as if he was afraid to let her go. Just this one bit of contact was more than he’d had since that night when he had first tried to speak of his feelings. It wasn’t something he wanted to lose again. Not so soon.
Kiara waits until the king is well past the doorway before she pushes the door closed, allowing it to move the rest of the way on its own. She then drags her feet, turning with the intent to shuffle right back to where she was sitting before Robin had knocked. –but… that’d be rude. She couldn’t just walk past him without saying a word ( even if some part of her wanted to justify her silence ). He had come for a reason and to ignore him right after she let him into her room wouldn’t be right. If anything, it’d just feed into the misunderstanding that they were having and make it worse. They had solved nothing by not talking to each other or by yelling so… perhaps this was a chance to approach this situation differently.
“Would you… um…. Would you like to sit down?” Kiara’s eyes flick up to the man’s face, her fingers curling into the fabric of her clothes, “I mean… I’m assuming that you’re not here for some quick conversation so perhaps we should sit down first… before we get into anything.”
“Is that alright with you?”
“Ah, yes.. of course...” Her words seemed to catch him off guard, the sound almost jarring in such a quiet room. To be honest he had expected her to send him away, so being in here was a surprise to him and he’d not arranged his thoughts well before coming.
“Though I.. do not know where anywhere to sit is located in here...”
He glanced around for a moment, sightless eyes bouncing restlessly from one spot to another. There were no shapes he could make out and not enough ambient magic in the room that he could ‘see’ that way. He was even too nervous to try and use any magic to try and aide him. For fear it might upset Kiara or make her nervous.
Green eyes flick slightly to the left in response to the tapping, focusing on the reflection of her door in the mirror. Her hands stop ( the hold on her hair relaxing some as a result ) and she stills, listening silently for whatever may follow it. When Robin’s voice drifts through, Kiara’s pulse quickens. She turns her head, eyeing the closed door from where she sits. Some tiny part of her assumed that Robin had gone to sleep, that he had turned in early for the night, and had wanted to do the same. If she rushed off to bed, she wouldn’t be stuck with her own thoughts until the morning. The other, more sensible part of her, forced her to take her time. That part knew that the king wasn’t asleep, had hoped that he wasn’t and had drawn her actions because of that.
She was waiting for him… –but now that he was at her door, asking to be let in, she froze. She was rooted to her seat, eyes glued to the door. She couldn’t find her voice to respond, to let him know that she had heard him. Kiara’s hands drop into her lap, abandoning the braid she had been twisting her hair into and she rubs the fabric of her nightwear between two fingers.
Why was she so nervous?
The woman’s remains still for a few moments more, briefly curling her fingers into her pant leg before forcing herself up and out of her seat. Her feet carry her over to the door ( finally ) and, though she hesitates, Kiara’s fingers wrap around the handle and pull it open. She leans on the door frame as soon as there’s enough space for her to fit, nibbling briefly on her lower lip.
“…It’s a little late, isn’t it?” she mumbles, stepping back and providing more space for Robin. “Come in.”
Robins hands fell away from the door, listening for any hint that Kiara had heard him at all, that she was even awake. His sightless eyes stayed glued to the door, their nervous shifting the only outward sign that he was uncertain as to the wisdom behind his actions.
Every minute sound echoing through the halls had his heart leaping, hoping beyond hope that it was Kiara reacting to his plea. The quiet creaking of a seat and slow steps upon carpeted stone barely met his ears. His nervous heartbeat nearly blocked out all sound.
There was some hope in his eyes as the door opened, her voice making his heart leap again. “I apologize, but I.. I could not help myself.”
He waited a moment after her invitation to step in, fingers trailing along the wall as he did. Just past the doorway he stopped, not wanting to invade her privacy by stepping too far in. It may have been his castle but this was her room and she had every right to as much privacy as she could get here.
Unmarked letter: I've wronged you... and though you made it very clear how deep that wound runs, I still wish to make amends. Even if you seek to distance yourself from me, and rightfully so, know that I still care deeply for you, Robin.
Though he had only heard them once he knew by heart the words etched on the thick paper in his hands. It could only have been sent from one person. Even if there were not clues hidden in the delicate writing the paper smelled faintly of her perfume, a scent he knew well from their many days together.
His thoughts flowed together in a tangled web, unsure of what to do. It was true that the wound in his heart still had yet to heal, and it seemed as though it never would. And yet she seemed insistent on making things right. As if it were truly so simple. It was not something a few words could fix, they both knew that. And yet...
He missed her terribly.
Finally making up his mind he let the letter drift onto his desk, robes flaring out around him as he left the room. He’d not bothered to grab his cane, not needing it in the familiar halls he walked. It was a path he had taken many times before, sometimes even without realizing it.
His breathing was labored when finally he reached his destination, though he did not let that stop him. The tapping of his knuckles against her door echoed through the hallway, breaking the gentle silence of the night.
“Kiara... will you please let me in?”
Silent Nights || Adustioatrox
The woman recoils a little bit, her eyes ( for a moment ) flicking off to the side as her expression relaxes. –but that, too, lasts only a moment. She doesn’t respond right away, swallowing the large lump that had built up and sat in the back of her throat while she was speaking. A biting retort rose up once the way was clear, pushing at her thinly drawn lips insistently. She saw what he was saying… She knew what he was saying and she knew that she had hurt him with what she had said. It was the very thing she had apologized for.
She wasn’t…. She hadn’t rejected him. –not intentionally, of course.
“…I didn’t mean it like that.” She’s said this before…. in her apology. “I told you that I didn’t mean it like that, Robin.”
“I didn’t expect you to forget or move on. I expected… I expected something else. A chance, maybe, to fix something… anything. I know what I said was thoughtless and I shouldn’t have blurted it out but… I didn’t say it with the intention to reject you.” Kiara interrupts herself with a curt breath, “I was being honest.”
Her nails bite into her palms.
“–and in return for my honesty, you’re so ready to push me aside and act as if there wasn’t any such friendship.” The volume of her voice climbs, “How can you expect me to believe it was so ’important’ to you when you’re acting as if it’s not enough.”
“Oh of course, you didn’t mean it and that makes it all better, doesn’t it.”
There was too much going on inside him for him to react any better than he was. Yes he knew Kiara had not meant to hurt him, but that did not make it any better. In fact it almost made it worse.
“Words cannot be taken back, and apologies rarely fix what is broken. Before when I heard you speak, when I caught the faint scent of your perfume.. I was happy. You were near and all I felt was a happiness I could not describe. Now those same things fill me with nothing more than a deep pain that does not end.”
How loud she was had started to hurt his ears and he almost had to cover them it was getting so loud in the hallway. But he knew that he couldn’t just do that and get away with it.
“In return for my feelings I have been given nothing but pain and having you avoid me and pull away just as much. Do not tell me you have not. Since that night you have not been by my side in court or sought me out for late night conversation as before. You accuse me of pushing you away, but you put just as much distance between us as you accuse me of doing.”
