i dont like this push to define exactly what therian HAS to mean for someone.
physical therians have always existed.
spiritual therians have always existed.
a mix of those two have always existed.
other kinds of therians have always existed.
I'm not a therian but pls reblog or something if youre an adult therian. I need to find more nonhuman blogs, a lot of people on here who identify as animals are children.
being physically nonhuman and/or having a body like a theriform doesn’t automatically unlearn you of racist and anthrocentric propaganda and ideals. matter of fact being any level of nonhuman or alterhuman doesn’t automatically unlearn you of it either. changing what names you put on yourself doesn’t change the fact that you are still living a lifestyle supported by a habitat that is shaped by systemic racism and human supremacy and sustained by willful ignorance of the everyday evidence of those facts.
this goes beyond the physical nonhumanity misunderstanders in the community too. i’m sick of white alterhumans posting endless lists of labels and microlabels as proof they’re “woke” when being anti-racist and woke isn’t in your fucking identity and self-talk, it’s in your actual actions towards others or by yourself, ESPECIALLY in your reactions to getting criticized for doing something that goes against what you “identify as” standing for.
This might be a nuclear take, and I'm usually not one to gatekeep, but I really don't understand those whose nonhumanity seems to start and end at puppygirl petplay shit. It feels incredibly unserious.
This might be kind of a hot take but I feel like the community has shifted away from identifying as animals to identifying with animals. I'm not a big fan of how many folks don't understand their own species behavior or know a lot about their species, it has led to me feeling very isolated around other canines due to how many of them don't present their species behavior (or even understand a single thing about how packs or canine behavior even works)
This is just my own personal take, but it feels weird to try to socialize with most folks in the community because most of the time its seen as "taking it too far" when you actually act as your species. (coughcough wolves are not friendly social creatures to strangers and can actually be quite shy, and growling is not always a form of aggression, on a similar note a wagging tail isn't always a sign of friendliness either)
Now, this isn't to say that those who don't show behaviors like their species are "faking it" (because thats a whole load of shit), it just feels like the community has gotten a lot more anthropomorphized (or humanized) from when I first discovered it
THERIANS:
Since I keep seeing the “therians are kids having fun” I wanna know how many people see this who are actually ADULT therians!!
Are you an adult therian?
Yes
No
there is something very cosy about the idea of catching a fish with my teeth and/or claws. like i wanna stand in a river and then i GET YOU!!
idk if sables even do that but i would bc im awesome
Guess what
Sables do eat fish! And they catch fish with their front paws!
You?
BITING YOU!!!!!!!!!!!
BITING YOU!!!!!!!!!!
BITING YOU BOTH
Therianthropy is really a unique type of existential and body horror quite honestly.
Perpetually stuck longing for experiences and abilities your body is physically incapable of providing you, fighting against a form that feels utterly foreign and disfigured compared to how your mind attempts to interpret it. An animal shoved inside a vessel and society it was never meant to even have knowledge of, with no obtainable means of escape.
The horror of always appearing to those around you as something almost alien to yourself, of your own tendons and bones barring you from grasps at freedom, of being something you are not.
the amount of therians and "supporters" ive seen lately trying to claim that "therians don't identify as animals" is genuinely concerning
like actually how did misinformation spread get this bad ?? that is the entire fucking point of therianthropy what are you talking about my dog in christ
yes, i identify as an animal. no, not in an ironic or metaphorical or satirical or for funsies way. i am an animal. i am a therianthrope. stop watering down our labels so that you can appeal to judgmental humans who don't give a shit about us i am begging you
Do I really have 30 gazillion disorders that are all conveniently "treatment resistant" or did you turn an animal into a person and expect it to fair completely fucking fine.

How searching for theriotype merch (hoping for nice accessories with photos and art, t-shirts etc.) looks like to a "pest" animal
I opened a marketplace and wrote "marten" in the search bar, and got this:
And on another website it's this:
Repellers :D [nervous laughter]
Is it the same to some of you or no?
Similar experience to being a popular fur animal, almost everything about sables is an expensive fur coat 😭
you just wait till i reach my final form
