Morgan’s words caused the tactician a slight amount of distress. “Never here for long”? What did she mean by that? Had he been here before? Did he…leave his daughter all alone?
Continuing to hold his daughter close to him, he’d let her sob into his chest. The sight made Robin frown—perhaps he too shared in her sadness. The idea of him leaving her by herself was a frightening one. What had happened here during his previous stays…?
"Morgan… I’m sorry. I don’t know how I left or why… Perhaps these 'scientists' are to blame for that.”
"But I left you nonetheless. And for that, I’m sorry."
His grip became tighter. Warmer. Memories or no, he would live up to the mistakes of the past. Morgan deserved that much from her father. He would make certain that he made up for whatever happened here before. That was a promise—and Robin was terribly good at keeping his word.
It would take Morgan some time to calm down. She just missed him so much. Everyone seemed to know Robin as a female and Morgan as a male, and it was painful for her. To have her friends prefer another version of her over - well, her. Maybe she was just a selfish person. The young tactician wiped her face against the front of Robin’s coat, hiccuping.
“I-It’s not-- hic! --your fault, father... It’s those scientists… They keep ruining everything! They put us through bad experiments and they keep bringing and then putting people back. They treat us like we’re not even human!”
She clung to him harder, slowly stopping herself from crying. Morgan looked up at him, her face a mess from sobbing, and she sniffled a bit. She felt like a baby for crying, but it was so hard smiling like nothing was wrong. She just felt tired.
“F-Father… I-I know you’ll keep your word… I-I won’t let them lay a single finger on you! I promise!”
But now with Robin here, maybe things could be better for her. She didn’t feel so lonely anymore.
