i’m a talented tactician, don’t try me
the ones i really want, the ones i don’t get
So I summoned robin and I felt the need to make this
Have I been kicked out of this fandom yet?
Quite a bit had happened in the last few days, and Robin was finding himself more and more mentally occupied. The drones that had attacked were a major wake-up call, and the tactician was soon realizing that there was more danger to the city’s environment than he initially perceived. When he considered the presence of the Shepherds here as well, his mind quickly began to chug away–he needed to think of a plan for the next time such an event came around. He couldn’t rest easy knowing that something like that could happen again and that they wouldn’t be ready.
That meant studying. Which meant books. Stacks of books. Veritable mountains. There wasn’t much in-depth knowledge, but he could find some things. Basic information that he presumed was common knowledge in those worlds, at the least. With an entire table to himself, Robin got to work.
“(Hm… I see…)”
Unfortunately, when one was attempting to fill your mind with information from every single world present in the Hive, that could be a taxing job. And could lead to quite the wall of books. He looks tired, but the tactician quietly continues his diligent studies.
It’d be pretty easy to scare him if you suddenly jumped from behind him and yelled. But please don’t, this is a public library.

❝ Now then, let me see… ❞ mumbles of the emerald-haired girl can be heard as she sifts through her red bag, mauve hues squinting slightly as she does so. She seems to be looking for something in particular and the longer it takes for her to find it, the more the teen leans into her purse, brows furrowing further as she does so.
❝ Aha! There you are–! ❞
❝ –Hm? ❞ cutting herself off as she excitedly pulls out her dragonstone, Nah catches sight of a stranger watching her… Rather closely. Not only that, but their own frame is rather close to the Manakete’s, causing the smaller girl to frown once more as she takes a few steps back.
❝ Yes? Can I help you? ❞
“Ah--”
He was staring, wasn’t he? With his hood over his head, the tactician probably looked just a little bit nefarious. Given that his coat was tailored in Plegia, that was probably a given. Black and purple in tandem weren’t exactly very friendly colors.
“Sorry, sorry. Perhaps I shouldn’t have approached without warning.”
The voice probably gave it away, but just to be sure, the tactician would remove his hood. Both his white hair and clear gray eyes were visible to the younger Manakete. He couldn’t be sure if she hailed from the same exact Ylisse as him (as he’d learned earlier of a case where one was inhabited by a female version of himself, among other things), but he was sure once the girl got a look at his face that she might recognize him.
“Do you recognize me, Nah? Sorry if that seems like a strange question--it’s hard to tell who’s exactly from where in this city...”
“Smooth. Very smooth. You definitely know how to make a good first impression.”
Studio Ghibli Sentence Meme
“...I have a distinct feeling that was sarcasm.”
He’s going to just ignore that for now. Which will probably happen a lot, between him and the outlaw. Fun times were surely ahead...
“Life is suffering. It is hard. The world is cursed. But still, you find reasons to keep living.”
Studio Ghibli Sentence Meme
“But of course. I’m responsible for more lives than my own. If I let things like that trifle with me or cause me to stumble, well, I wouldn’t be able to lead anyone. As a tactician, I cannot allow such things to plague my mind.”
“Leave before it gets dark.”
Studio Ghibli Sentence Meme
“Hm? Is there a particular reason? I appreciate the thought, but I can take care of myself just fine.”
“That was the night I died.”

The story was unexpectedly long, and Robin hadn’t anticipated such a whirlwind of events to occur to a girl so young and so kindhearted. Suddenly, his perception of the girl shifted quite dramatically.
“...I see. How terrible...”
Robin could understand the decision. Knowing that you could only have so long to spend with those around you, knowing your time is limited, and ultimately making a decision you know would hurt them, but knowing it’s unavoidable.
The circumstances may have been different, but Robin understood the sentiment. He understood the idea very well--more than most may have.
“--But it was a decision you made, regardless. To pass on, and to give them the hope they needed to save your world. You’re a strong person, Celica. I think you should know that.”
Studio Ghibli Sentence Meme
“Now I have something I want to protect. It’s you.”
“I’m not afraid to die!”
“You cannot change fate. However, you can rise to meet it, if you so choose.”
“They say that the best blaze brightest when circumstances are at their worst.”
“Fear and anger only make it grow faster.”
“I think I can handle it.”
“Here’s another curse for you - may all your bacon burn.”
“Don’t worry! Stay right where you are, I’m coming to get you! You’re gonna be fine, I won’t let him hurt you.”
“I need something of yours. How ‘bout your eyes?”
“We gotta get out of here! We’re gonna get in trouble!”
“You, you sabotaged me! Look! Look at what you’ve done to my hair! Look!”
“No more killing. It has to stop!”
“You sound ghastly, like some 90-year-old woman.”
“Guys, don’t take that food! We’re gonna get in trouble!”
“Fight ‘em! C’mon!”
“Smile so we can make a good impression.”
“We each need to find our own inspiration. Sometimes it’s not easy”
“I finally get a bouquet and it’s a goodbye present. That’s depressing.”
“Life is suffering. It is hard. The world is cursed. But still, you find reasons to keep living.”
“Sorry, it looks like you’re involved.”
“Oh, my baby! Are you all right? Are you emotionally traumatized?”
“Now I’m trying to look inside myself and find out how I did it.”
“Leave before it gets dark.”
“Once you do something, you never forget. Even if you can’t remember.”
“Cut off a wolf’s head and it still has the power to bite.”
“It’s all so familiar yet I know I’ve never been here before. I feel so at home.”
“Now I’m trying to look inside myself and find out how I did it.”
“I suggest you surrender. There is no ship coming to rescue you.”
“I had no idea that my rage could drive me to kill.”
“These days, there are angry ghosts all around us - dead from wars, sickness, starvation - and nobody cares.”
“A heart’s a heavy burden.”
“Please! You must stop!”
“Well, well, well… hello kitty.” “You can’t be busy - you’re five!”
“So you say you’re under a curse? So what? So’s the whole damn world.”
“ I have really had enough of your incredible stupidity.”
“Lamebrain! They made an escape! Now step on it!”
“I didn’t want them to kill you.”
“It’s fun to move to a new place. It’s an adventure.”
“Welcome the rich man, he’s hard for you to miss. His butt keeps getting bigger, so there’s plenty there to kiss!”
“You shouldn’t be here! Get out!”
“He said Mom was ugly, now go get him!”
“Kill him and you’ll be famous.”
“I’ve seen him do this once before when a girl dumped him.”
“S/He’s alive. There goes that dream.”
“That was the night I died.”
“I’d rather be a pig than a fascist.”
“You don’t remember your name?”
“Don’t be afraid, I just want to help you.”
“Poor kids. I’ll really miss them.”
“I don’t fight for honor. I fight for a paycheck.”
“ No, No, No! Don’t do this! Help! Help! Crazy lady with the shovel!”
“She was once quite beautiful, so I decided to pursue her, then I realized she wasn’t, so then, as usual, I ran away.”
“You’re in love. Don’t deny it, you’ve been sighing all day”
“She never woke up again.”
“You blubber heads! I’m not runnin’ a luxury cruise! Now get to work!”
“Why does everything that’s good for you have to taste so bad?”
“Whatever you don’t want me to clean, better hide it now!”
“This is our little secret. You tell anyone and I’ll rip your mouth off.”
“I give up. I see no point in living if I can’t be beautiful.”
“If I lose my magic, that means I’ve lost absolutely everything.”
“ It’s… you’re scaring me. I have this weird feeling you’re going to leave. ”
“There’s a demon inside you.”
“Don’t get alarmed but I’m being followed. Act normal.”
“Don’t worry, I’ve got four-wheel drive.”
“This is what hatred looks like! This is what it does when it catches hold of you! It’s eating me alive, and very soon it will kill me!”
“Smooth. Very smooth. You definitely know how to make a good first impression.”
“Everyone fears their own mortality.”
“Play with me or I’ll break your arm!”
“I gotta get out of this place. Someday I’m getting on that train.”
“Wait give us a minute! This is clearly harassment.”
“Why do fireflies have to die so soon?”
“There you are, sweetheart. Sorry I’m late. I was looking everywhere for you.”
“When you’re going to kill a god, let someone else do your dirty work.”
“Why did you stop me from killing her?”
“When I saw you, I just wanted to find a way to protect you.”
“One thing you can always count on is that hearts change.”
“Tell me while you’re still alive!”
“This is a tomb for the both of us.”
“If nobody comes in, I’m gonna have to eat pancakes forever and be fat, fat, fat! And what am I supposed to do about that?”
“Even if you were a woman, you’d still be an idiot!”
“What do you say we give ‘em a little demonstration of how fast we can run, huh?”
“HAM!”

There had been quite a bit of commotion lately regarding some new bird-like creatures that had cropped up throughout the city. ‘Chocobos’, they were called... Admittedly, Robin was a curious sort. So, he naturally was inclined to go check things out.
Interestingly, they seemed to have already established farms for the creatures within the confines of this place. It took him a bit of a trip to get to District Mu to visit the Sunshine Farm, but he made it there in time.
And ah, it seemed he wasn’t the only one who the birds had drawn the attention of.
“I see I’m not the only curious one. Did you come here to see these ‘Chocobos’, too, Morgan?”
minervakins:
The feeling would be mutual of course, it was just unfortunate during the current circumstance they couldn’t catch up. It would just have to wait for now, until they cleaned up this mess and helped everyone else.
❝ And if anyone needs to be carried say the word, Minerva will happily be of assistance. Wont you my dear? ❞
What would be a another screech would be one of agreement with her words. Though only she would really understand the language of her wyvern. ❝ There you see? Minerva says she’ll do it. ❞ A small chuckle would come from her as the wings of her wyvern would spread out then getting ready to take off back into the skies.
❝ Oh my, only two left? This city surely knows how to make things hard. Leave it to me Robin, just save those last two if you absolutely need it. Understand? ❞ It wasn’t really a question, but more of a demand. The tone of her voice though would lead one astray from thinking it would be as such. Perhaps it would be the smile and the aura she’d give off though that would finally hit the nail on the coffin.
Off to the skies though the wyvern would lift off to before breathing more fire at the metal figures on the street to clear a path. She supposed it was only luck Minerva was finally back to her original size, it was times like these she was most grateful she had a friend in battle. Especially with how quick she was to fly down to grab any enemy with her mouth and crush them with her jaws. To only have the pink haired warrior swing her axe from the side to try and slice them down.
It was then she would look at the tactician with a smile as a thought came to mind. When she was near enough to the tactician she would lean over slightly. ❝ Robin, I’m going to make an opening for you and the citizens to run through. It’ll be a small short time, so make it count, alright? ❞ Certainly this plan would only give her a few scratches and bruises possibly, more likely it will, but it was something.
It was then the wyvern would dart straight into the sky before charging back down and ramming into a group of the machines sending them scattering as she also would try and nail a few here and there along with Minerva. She would feel the few cuts across her skin from the sudden bulldoze of her beast into them sending a blast to make them scatter, but it would give them enough time hopefully to run through without having to worry much. ❝ Time is wasting Robin! ❞ She’d shout as Minerva would crush a few more of the robots to make the path more safer.
Cherche was a rather delightful person when off of the battlefield, and while her smiles remained even in the heat of combat, there was an edge to her actions that betrayed that warm expression. As the crowd moved forward, Robin watched as Cherche and Minerva mowed down one drone after another. Truly, they were a frightening pair, and a good one to have around in times like this.
“Understood. But, Cherche--be sure to not take any unnecessary risks.”
As a tactician, Robin was the sort who always wanted to make certain those under his guidance were kept safe. Even if it might have gotten a bit repetitive at times, his concern for his comrades tended to guide many of his decisions. Admittedly, he trusted Cherche, which was why he did not dwell on that request (he understood that she was not one to be reckless), but in this situation, he felt more helpless than normal. Perhaps the loss of many of his abilities and weapons was to blame for that.
“Everyone, quickly, move!!”
With haste. Just as much as Robin had no intention of leaving these civilians in harm’s way, he likewise had no intention of leaving Cherche and her partner to face these things on her own for long.
And surely enough, they managed to run through to safety. When the crowd had gotten their way to the shelter, Robin was quick to round back and return to the wyvern and her rider. Whether they needed help or not, he wasn’t one to actively leave his allies in danger.
“...The Grimleal are not a group to be supported. If you’ve some hope to escape this city, I highly advise you invest elsewhere.”
Literally the planned avatar of Grima speaking here. Please don’t join cults.
minervakins:
It would be an ear piercing screech that would ring out through the sky. As soon as the screech faded with it’s echoes, what looked like a large black shadow would soon come crashing down following with another ear piercing screech. What sounded like metal grinding would be some remains within the jaws of the black beast before it was spat out. Soon afterwards flames would be being spit out at most of them to keep them at bay. Following with all the antics of the black beast a might axe would be swinging at the robotic enemies to try and down some to size.
❝ Oh my, whatever shall I do with you Robin? Getting into one mess after another. ❞ It would be a short greeting before she was already swinging her axe again at another machine. ❝ Minerva and I are here to help. Another two heads to add to the party should help some, shouldn’t it? ❞ Her lips would form a smile as she would trot back to her wyvern friend and hop back ontop of her ready for more flying.
❝ Now which way shall you be heading ser? ❞
And what impeccable timing--and luck, for that matter. Robin hardly anticipated another to come to his aid, let alone a fellow member of the Shepherds. Naga was certainly smiling down on him, that much was for sure.
“It’s good to see you again, Cherche. Although part of me wishes the reunion could be under less worrisome circumstances.”
Humor aside, Robin quickly began to assess the new situation at hand. Just as the wyvern-rider had come in, more of the machines seemed to rally together. Their numbers alone could make direct confrontation a difficult fight--and a risky one, at that. While Cherche had done a good job keeping the initial threats at bay, the fact remained that the citizens had to be evacuated--and quickly.
“--We must get these people off of the streets. While I’d like to clear out these drones as soon as possible, our job as Shepherds comes first.”
Almost as if to accentuate his point, one of the drones quickly closes in and attempts to strike at the crowd behind Robin. However, almost as soon as its assault begins, a blast of fire quickly nails a bullseye on its head, leaving nothing but a smoldering crater between its shoulders as the remaining hunk of metal quickly teeters backwards and falls to the ground.
“I’ve only two more of those left...! Cherche, can I rely on you to help cover me and the civilians? There’s a shelter not too far from here--I believe if we make it there, we should be able to get them to safety!”
pureheartedmiracle:
Celica nodded to the man’s request, quickly leaving the room to retrieve a glass of ice water from the refrigerator. She returned to the hall before too long had passed, placing the glass on the table for the man to drink at his leisure. She still felt a bit embarrassed about the sorry state of her church… She needed to speed things up when they had more time to themselves.
It took the mage a second to resister what Robin had just said as he introduced himself. She had reached out her hand to grab his for a handshake, when she suddenly froze up, her eyes widening as she at last realized…
“Wait-Shepherds? Is that what you just said? Robin, you-”
Celica’s confused babbling was interrupted by the sound of the front door suddenly opening and closing, a chrome-colored, human-like doll appearing where there was once empty space. Minerva’s gaze fell upon Robin, her mind beginning to process that a stranger had come into the church and was all-too close to her master. Almost at once, Celica realized what was about to happen, sprinting from her place across from Robin over to in front of Minerva, placing her hands on the robot’s chest in an attempt to keep her from suddenly charging at the intruder.
“It’s alright Minerva, it’s alright. he’s a friend, there’s nothing to be worried about… He was trying to get away from those things like we were… Eh? Well, if you drove them all away, then I guess we’re alright for right now… Yes, I noticed it too. I was just about to ask.” Celica became aware of how weird this must look to Robin as she finished her conversation with Minerva… Sometimes she really wished that Minerva could speak normally, instead of having to rely on this indecipherable telepathy to communicate, leaving everyone around them in the dark. If Celica ever got the chance, she would have to ask Kokonoe why she never installed any voice functions for her guardian. In any case, the main concern for right now was Robin. Celica turned around to face him again, preparing herself to ask more questions. Her face displayed open trust and friendliness, in contrast to Minerva, who continued to scan Robin’s features for any sign that he might suddenly attack them.
“Mr. Robin, um… You said you’re the Shepherds tactician, right? Do you mean the same Shepherds that Lucina leads here in the city? Do you know her? And… Do you know someone named Morgan from that group, too? You look so much alike, you’re wearing the same clothes and everything… Are you related to him, somehow?”
A multitude of things happened all at once. The rather tall doll-like figure entering the church then nearly charging towards him gave Robin quite a fright. Listening closely, he heard the doll’s name. Minerva. He would have felt Celica conversing with the mute figure would’ve been strange, had he not known a very similar type of relationship between a certain Shepherd and her wyvern (even down to the name, how strange).
As Celica conversed with Minerva, Robin felt a slight bit of contempt from the larger doll. The way she watch watching his body movements, it made him fearful even reaching to take the glass of water Celica had set down might set her off. Once the smaller girl turned to ask him her questions, the tactician’s eyes widened slightly.
“--Yes, that would be correct. Lucina and I fought alongside one another as allies in our home world.”
Some details that Celica mentioned seemed a bit of a surprise. He’d known of individuals from Ylisse being in the city, but he hadn’t actually been fully aware that the Shepherds had organized their numbers here. And that Lucina was leading them was also a surprising bit of news.
“Ah, Morgan? Yes, I’ve actually met him. It’s rather difficult to explain... You see, in my version of Ylisse, Morgan is my daughter, but it seems the Morgan here is a boy--not to mention, I’m supposedly his mother where he comes from. It’s... a tad confusing, to speak truthfully.”
;;awakening (in the trash)
sanguinetactics:
Bracing himself for the impeding stank of the dumpster, Morgan took a deep breath before hopping into himself, the garbage around him making a pseudo-splash before the lid came down on both. The smell was.. in all earnest, not that bad when compared to the smell of other vile things. Bodies, unbathed soldiers for weeks, Grima.. wasn’t pleasant but he’d live.
As the minutes went by and Robin made his first disgusted comment, Morgan would prepare to spea up before hearing the mass of people outside, swooning over each other and making gross and icky comments. It quickly shut Morgan up as he hid himself deeper in the garbage.
“ I don’t know about you but I feel safe in here after hearing all that. I plan on staying if you wish to leave but I can’t promise your safety. “ He let out a sigh, which was probably a bad idea considering the scent of the garbage.
“ … Want to see if we can find anything fun in here? “
The (rather frightening) sounds outside the dumpster quickly quieted Robin’s momentary dissent. Though admittedly, he wasn’t really going to reconsider changing their position for the time being. It would be far too easy for them to run into more trouble if they left the dumpster now.
So, here he was. In a dumpster, with his child from another world.
“...Perhaps that wasn’t the wisest choice of words, considering. I think I’ll stay here.” He would rather live with the smell and clean himself up later than subject himself to... that.
Upon Morgan’s suggestion, the tactician’s face probably wouldn’t be immediately visible, but he was wearing a rather incredulous expression. But, it was oddly nostalgic. No matter the differing worlds, this boy was still Morgan, it seemed.
“Yes, I suppose we could try. Although, one promise: Don’t tell anyone this happened. I think the embarrassment would be just as bad as if I took one of those arrows to the chest...”
