Particle had, over the years, had their spats; fights that had gotten out of hand because tension in the cramped conditions of their dorm had been so high and they’d all been stressed with no outlet. There had been one or two explosive fights, partly because Seungyong had trouble with emotions in general, and hadn’t been able to resolve the issue quickly enough because he hadn’t known there was one in the first place. But they’d adapted, over the years, had grown closer, and he couldn’t quite remember their last disagreement.

“Worse how?” He couldn’t give any advice without details; he could imagine who, between Danger’s members, were fighting, but he had no idea what about or why. “Tension is high for you guys right now, but it won’t drop all that much right after debut. It’s not gonna take the pressure off like a magic switch. So I think addressing problems that you’re having right now would be the better way to go, rather than waiting until after debut and risking people noticing.” Public scrutiny would just add fuel to the fire. “But it’s not always your place to step in. I think it’s a fine line to walk, and you need to be sure you’re unbiased before intervening.”

If anything, members not having fights in their kinds of living conditions could be seen as odd. Of course, they’d had their disagreements. Others being in their space, not putting away their things, not cleaning their dirty dishes. It had been difficult to find a balance when it came to living with so many strangers. Since then, they obviously were no longer strangers, but small things would continue to pop up every once in a while. Not like this though, where it could cause corruption towards their productivity and their ability to work as a team.

As Seungyong offered his advice, Taewoo listened intently, munching slowly at a vegetable and nodding along as he tried to take it in. Although it wasn’t a definitive answer, it was definitely something he needed to think about. When exactly was it okay for him to step in and say something? Being leader doesn’t automatically make everyone else’s business, your business. But, it was in his nature to try and help, sooner rather than later. “Do you think I could maybe try and get then both to sit down with me? Maybe they can explain what their problems are, if any? Or do you think that could be too much?”

even with some 300 kilometers between them, the comfort of talking to tae was still the same. he couldn’t explain it – something about the other just brought  out this warm fuzzy feeling in kisoek’s chest. even when he didn’t feel his best, he knew he could always turn to tae, and he hoped the other knew it was the same the other way around. 

“too excited ?” he questioned the other’s lack of sleep, assuming it had to do with their debut coming faster and faster. it must be nice, he thought – but he tried not to dwell on that. this wasn’t the time to spiral deep in his feelings, something that only ever seemed to happen late at night. “oh, i tried. it didn’t feel the same way that it does at home, you know?” it might be the fact that he didn’t have his favorite mug, or maybe even something deeper than that, but he couldn’t exactly pinpoint the feeling. “i should lay down, though.” he made no attempt to move as he spoke, not wanting to hang up the phone just yet.  

putting words to his thoughts wasn’t something that came super easily to kisoek, but he still tried his best. biting his tongue for a second, he wondered when the KMG dorm had come to be home to him. then again, the only other home he’d ever known was his father’s house, and he hadn’t been there in quite some time now. shaking the thought, he couldn’t help but smile at tae’s enthusiasm, rolling his eyes just a little. “it’s not like summer camp, i don’t think i’ll miss it once it’s done.” he laughed soft, pulling the sleeves of his shirt over his hands to keep warm. “and i could never do that to you. what would you do if i wasn’t around? what if you, like, spontaneously combust? no, i have no choice but to come back.”

Whatever the issue was, Taewoo would always be available to help others with their problems, no matter how big or how small it could be. Putting others before himself was second nature to him, even if ( in this case ) it meant a lack of sleep. It’s likely he needed to slow down, not wanting to risk being burnt out. But, it was also part of the reason KMG had chosen to make him the leader of Danger. Not only was it his strong work ethic, and the effort he puts in to each practice and performance, it was the way he would always check on the people around him, and help to ensure are as happy and healthy as possible.

Even, if those people are three hundred kilometres away.

“Something like that,” the leader spoke as he continued to smile, still pacing his way around the shared living room. It really was a mixture of things. Thinking about their schedule, thinking about the boys that could potentially fight any day now, and yes, he too was thinking about his debut. Excitement bubbled in the pit of his stomach every time it crossed his mind. But, so did a following wave of anxiety. What if they weren’t ready? What if they weren’t successful? “Maybe I couldn’t sleep because I was busy thinking about you? Using my telepathy to make you try and call me? And here you are!”

As much as the joke was kind of a way to deflect from the nervousness he felt, it was also kind of true. Taewoo thought of his friends often, especially when he was falling to sleep. "What do you mean it’s not like summer camp? You should tell me about it. After you go and lay down in bed. It could be like a bed time story, and it will put us both to sleep.”

    *  IT’D  BE  A  WONDER  IF  HE  CAME  OUT  OF  THIS  WITHOUT  MORE  MUSCLE .  his  arms  were  practically  screaming  for  a  break ,  pleading  for  him  to  relax .  they  had  been  for  a  while  now  really  but  he’d  gotten  to  be  an  expert  at  ignoring  those  sensations .  he  held  a  puzzling  pride  in  how  he  can  hold  a  facade  like  no  other  but  the  bursts  of  hot  air  from  him  as  he  mixed  were  clear  enough .  this  was  a  ridiculous  situation  to  be  in  no  matter  what  angle  you  saw  it  from ,  his  own  stubbornness  was  running  him  into  the  ground .  he  had  to  see  this  through ,  had  to  produce  a  finished  product  that  didn’t  look  like  a  pancake .  his  relentless  whisking  took  a  pause  when  his  leader  drew  closer ,  his  own  eyes  scanning  over  the  various  failures .  some  were  severely cracked ,  others  were  smooth  but  still  no  less  flat .

    he’d  checked  everywhere  online  at  this  point  &  while  he’d  found  more  than  a  few  solutions ,  it  never  seemed  like  he  was  able  to  execute  the  fix .  over-mixing  was  a  huge  problem  come  to  find  out ,  once  he  added  the  rest  of  the  ingredients  it  just  never  felt  like  everything  combined  properly .  it  became  a  game  of  trying  to  mix  as  few  times  as  possible  while  still  incorporating  everything .  what  a  shitty  game  that  was . ( what  kind  of  maniac  saw  lumps  in  any  batter  and  didn’t  want  to  try  to  mix  more? )  ❛ at  least  i’m  getting  closer  then . ❜  drawn  out  hum ,  lips  pursing  while  he  stared  down  at  the  bowl  of  frothy  whites .  ❛ mix  too  much  or  not  enough ,  both  can  mess  it  up .  i  want  hard  peaks  not  soft ,  whatever  that  means .  if  it’s  mixed  too  much  you  have  to  start  over . ❜  a  nod  that's  damn  near  philosophical  while  he  waved  around  the  flimsy  whisk  between  his  digits .  ❛ i’ve  just  got  this  trusty  whisk  here ,  his  handle  isn’t  looking  too  good  but  i  think  he’s  hanging  in  there .  ❜

It was safe to say, Taewoo had never baked in his life. He’d barely even cooked and even then he’d usually only used a microwave oven, doing little more than heating up a dish someone else had prepared for him, giving simple instructions, and allowing him to serve it as if it were his own meal. You could always tell the difference though, between store bought and home made. Sometimes, there was a good difference, where you knew the meal you were eating was prepared with love and pride. Other times, it maybe wasn’t a bad difference, but a difference where you knew the chef wasn’t exactly full of experience when they stared creating their dish. 

Sometimes, like in this case, that chef was a baker attempting for maybe the tenth time to create hard peaks.

“It looks like if you whisk much more that it might burst into flames.” The leader teased his friend as he observed the over worked handle of the utensil, clearly RJ had been going at this for a while, if the several failed batches hadn’t made it obvious first. Fire was an element that Taewoo definitely had some experience in. Much more so than baking. At the very least if that did accidentally happen, one of them would know what to do. “Maybe you should take a break? I’m sure that what you’ve made still tastes good, even if they don’t look... Perfect.”

In all honesty, Sebin didn’t know much about Twilight. Not the first movie and not any of the ones that came after, so it wasn’t much of a surprise that he had been wrong. It was only because of the worldwide level of fame that it had achieved that it came to mind so quickly. “Right. Well, I didn’t binge-watch the entire series with a pen and notepad in hand to study the lore, so I guess that’s my mistake,” He quipped, rolling his eyes. “Maybe both will get picked up. Yours can be a melodrama with a happy ending, mine can be a horror flick. Maybe we’ll even get credit and it’ll boost Danger’s popularity.”

Obviously, it would never happen, but he was trying very hard not to say anything that might come off as mean. Normally, he wouldn’t care, but it was too late to have to lie awake worrying about how his words might be interpreted.

“Of course I’m tired. I’m exhausted. I was just about to fall asleep when you started talking.” He hadn’t been. “And I thought about just letting myself fall asleep anyway and leaving you to think about it yourself, but my generosity wouldn’t let me.”

He paused, thinking about what he was about to offer. “Do you…” Silence. Half a minute might’ve passed, and then he continued, “If I said that I would let you sleep with me, then do you think that you would be able to? Hypothetically speaking.” It wasn’t like he’d never let Taewoo sleep in his bed—it must’ve happened dozens of times by now—it was just that he wasn’t typically eager to sacrifice his space.

“Oh? That’s funny because I did,” Taewoo spoke softly from his bunk with a laugh. He was only teasing, of course, but there was something about Sebin’s sarcasm that usually made him laugh.  Maybe it’s because it was so ridiculous? Although, he knew he shouldn’t exactly be finding any of this funny, continuing to talk to his room mate at whatever time this was. It’s likely they’re both going to be very tired the next day. 

Realistically, he had only seen each Twilight move maybe once? And even then he couldn’t remember if he’d seen them all, so they clearly weren’t that memorable.

At his words, Taewoo felt guilty for laughing, pursing his lips with a nervous swallow as he continued to stare up at the ceiling. It was pitch black, so if he wasn’t so accustomed to the shared room he might have doubted exactly where he was staring. As he opened his mouth, he was about to apologise to the man in the bunk beneath him for disturbing him when he hypothetically invited the leader down to his bed. There had been more than once where Taewoo had found security sleeping next to Sebin when events similar to this had occurred, but he was aware that the other wasn’t always as eager to share his space as Tae was.

“I mean... It might help,” he murmured out, licking his lips. Really, he did want to share the bed, but he didn’t want to push the other into doing something he didn’t want to do. “It would probably be fine if you don’t though. I think.”

it took a little while and a lot of planning for her to convince her group-mates to give her the room for an hour. a little longer for her to fix her hair and smear a layer of red lipgloss onto her lips before rubbing it all off in a moment of self-doubt. she’s not sure when she’s realized that she likes taewoo more than as just a friend, when she noticed how little it took for her heart to start racing for near him, but for the past few weeks, all of her thoughts have been taken up by taewoo. taewoo. taewoo.

fuck it. she glances around the empty room, as if to check to make sure that none of her members are still lurking somewhere with a camera, and then opens the facetime app on her laptop. taewoo’s information is at the middle of her contacts, the only moon in her list. she pulls it up on the screen, hesitating only a moment before she hits the call button. the line rings, and nery thinks she’s going to get his voice mail when something clicks and she hears a warm voice on the other end. sees his pixelated smile.

she takes a deep breath, then says, “ hey, taewoo. ”

Lately, Taewoo’s mind had been almost consumed by his pending debut. There had been little time to think about much else, and when there was some rare down time where the trainees were left to their own devices, the leader was likely escaping to his island with Tom Nook and his villagers. The game helped him to relax and just forget for a couple of hours. On the island, you didn’t have to think about lyrics, or choreography, or the potential arguments that might be brewing between your members.

It was safe to say it was a surprise when the blonde heard his phone chime, luckily being close to his bag while he was in the practice room, otherwise he may have missed it. Today had been another long day practice, perfecting their next cover they were due to film, needing it to be perfect. After dabbing at his sweaty face with the bottom of his shirt, he answered. 

“Nery, hello! This is a surprise. Is everything okay?” As to be expected, he answered the call with a bright smile. He wasn’t sure if he had the ability to do it any other way, even when it was only audio.

Taewoo was as excited about their comeback as Seungyong supposed their fans were; the opposite of how he felt about it, really, but that wasn’t something he was about to articulate with a trainee set to debut. Besides; he knew that Particle was by far the most overworked group within the company, even if the others came close sometimes. These kinds of concerns were better kept within the group, where nobody else could hear them complain, and they were free to admit that they were simply tired, at this point.

“We’ve been changing up our sound in general recently. Not sure yet where it’ll take us, but trying out new things is always nice.” He did miss their older releases sometimes, but the flow of time couldn’t be stopped. Seungyong popped another piece of onion into his mouth, relishing in the crunch, but when Taewoo spoke up again he leant forward, pillowing his chin on the back of his hand. “Two people fighting? Sure. It’s bound to happen. Anticipation and stress are both at a high point for you, and you still need to figure out your dynamic.” Particle hadn’t fought too much, but Seungyong had gotten irritated on multiple occasions. “But if you’re worried about it, it might be something more serious.”

Nodding along, Taewoo listened intently as the words slipped from his senior’s mouth, as if he was about to spill some big, secrets of the trade. Like he would tell him something that maybe he hadn’t heard before. Even if he didn’t it was still interesting, listening to the point of view and perspective of someone that’s done it all, and done everything that the trainee hopes to achieve one day. Particle were legends, inside and outside of KMG, too.

Then, the topic turned to the question that Taewoo had asked, about the members in his group. It wasn’t that it was necessarily more than annoying bickering at this point, but there was a good chance that one day it would be worse than that. The tittering between the two of them seemed to be increasing. Talking back, childish name calling. As much as Taewoo was hoping it was simply the pressure of debut causing them to heat up, it’s not as if the pressure was going to stop once it had happened. “Well... What should I do if it is something more serious? I don’t think it used to be quite like this. It feels like it’s getting worse.”

watching the other walk around put his mind somewhat at ease, choosing to focus on that instead of the reason he’d called in the first place. if he was being honest, it was much easier to worry about tae than it was to bring attention to his own problems – which is why the other tended to always be at the top of his call listen when he felt the need to talk to someone.

“i will make you tea. it’ll be the best tea you ever had. put your ass right to sleep.” he laughed a little at his own lame attempt at a joke, bringing the phone slightly closer to his face. watching taewoo, he couldn’t help the yawn that passed his lips – he was tired, he just didn’t want to admit it. 

“i know it’s number one on your list, because it’s always number one on your list. i’m pretty sure if you were given the opportunity to bother me full time, you would take it.” he laughed softly, rubbing at his eyes. as much as the camp was nice, he missed being in seoul. with a sigh, he looked away from his phone as he spoke again, always having a hard time explaining his feelings. “i miss my bed. i miss, just… i dunno. is it weird to feel homesick about a place that isn’t really home ?”

Continuing to walk around his dorm, Tae followed a route that circles around the living room, lapping the couch over and over again rather than sitting on it. It was a good thing he was so used to the layout of the place, because he was barely watching where he was going, instead choosing to focus on his friend’s face glowing from the screen of his phone. He looked tired, but he wasn’t going to comment on it, instead deciding to go along with the jokes. Were they really jokes if most of it was true?

“I could use some of that tea right now. I was awake when you called because I couldn’t sleep,” the blonde admitted with a nod, stepping over one of the boy’s shoes that had somehow made it’s way into the living room for what felt like the tenth time. Still, he hadn’t made any sort of decision to put it away for them. It’s likely he would before he went back to bed. “Maybe you should make yourself some of that tea and give yourself a good night’s rest? Have some for me.”

As much as he’d suggested it, Tae wasn’t sure if he was ready for Kiseok to hang up the video call, yet. 

“I know what you mean,” he responded with a nod, pursing his lips together. Growing up, the leader had lived in only a few places, but he wasn’t sure if he would call his dorm, or his parent’s apartment home. Neither of those were what was shown to him in dream when the setting was home. It was always the dingy, small trailer that he grew up in. The one he knew he’d never see again. But, that didn’t mean he didn’t miss his parents, or their apartment. “Who knows, maybe you’ll be home soon and then you’ll start to miss camp. You might have so much fun you never want to leave. I’ll never see you again!”

Adding Taewoo to the group chat had been natural; they’d seen each other around, of course, but until he’d heard that a leader for the group set to debut had been chosen, he’d never actually talked all that much with the younger man. But Taewoo certainly hadn’t been shy, once he’d joined the circle of seniors, had asked questions and received some answers that Seungyong had privately thought were dubious in nature.

So when he’d asked to meet Seungyong, he’d rearranged his schedule; had gotten a little less sleep the nights before to free up his evening, because he knew how much pressure it was to be a leader of a trainee group, and to earn the respect necessary from the rest of the boys surrounding him.

“It’s been stressful, for the most part. But the stages are fun, and so was filming.” Seungyong took a moment to chew on a piece of fried vegetable that he could only assume was onion and shrugged; there wasn’t much to say on the topic. “I like the songs this time around. Worked on Spring Day and I don’t mind the rest.”

But that was the kind of small talk he knew he hadn’t been asked to join Taewoo for, so he raised an eyebrow at the other, setting down his chopsticks. “What about you? Anticipating that debut?”

As his senior spoke, Taewoo nodded along, chewing on the end of a dumpling while hanging on to every word leaving his sunbae’s lips. That was going to be him one day, speaking to a junior about his latest comeback, about how fun it was and how he’d ( hopefully ) helped work on it before it’s release. It was all fascinating, and helped to realign the Danger leader with his goals and remind him what he was working towards.

And remind him why he’d asked for Seungyong’s advice in the first place.

“Spring Day is really pretty, definitely different to a lot of your other songs. But I like it a lot. It feels refreshing,” the blonde spoke quietly, swallowing the bite of his dumpling as he thought about his own debut. Anticipation was definitely one word he could use to describe how he was feeling. There was also nervous, anxious, but also excited. His stomach felt sick, but in a good way. “I um, yeah. It feels like I only got signed last week, and that I moved into my dorm yesterday. It’s really weird. But I’m thankful, and eager to debut already. There’s just... One thing.” Pausing, he licked over his lips as he thought about the best way to word his problem. “There are two boys in the group who seem to be... Not getting along. I’m getting kind of worried about it. Is this normal?”

”Vampires are traditionally shown as being evil, aren’t they?” Sebin asked, genuinely questioning. He didn’t pay enough attention to any of the movies that he’d seen to know all that there was to know. But it seemed like blood-suckers would probably be evil, in some way or another. “I think that it would be an interesting arch for him to turn on Gotham, but if you think that it sucks, then it sucks, I guess.” He sighed again, this time trying to be heard. “Go ahead and pitch it, then. Maybe someone will take it up and you’ll make royalties off of it.” Maybe you’ll be able to buy a brain. That was a thought that he didn’t share — he was a little annoyed, but he didn’t want to hurt Taewoo’s feelings.

He rested his hands on his stomach, fingers drumming a bored pattern. He looked at the surface that separated his bunk from the leader’s and for a brief moment, he thought about raising his foot and kicking it real hard. He wasn’t sure why; it wasn’t like Taewoo was keeping him up. If he could sleep, then he’d be sleeping. Plus, he’d probably be the only one to feel it. So he fought the urge. “Maybe we can make dual pitches, see whose gets accepted first. A Batman-Twilight crossover will happen because of your late night thoughts.”

He laughed under his breath; a tired, not exactly genuine sound. “You have the weirdest ideas, you know. Seriously,” he said, still trying to fathom the whole superhero-vampire situation. “Aren’t you tired, Taewoo?”

The leader listened to this friend’s idea, although he didn’t exactly like the sound of it. Not that he would voice that to Sebin, since he was the one who asked for his opinion in the first place. He always liked to so the best in people, and situations, and he supposed hypothetical Batman-vampire crossovers were no exception to that. At least, not at this time of night, where he was tired and a little cranky, but he could still feel his body vibrating from the bug attack.

“Funny you bring up Twilight, because even though traditionally vampires are shown as evil, they weren’t in Twilight. Wasn’t that kind of the whole point? So, I don’t believe that Batman would turn evil, even if he was bitten.” Pausing, he chuckled at the idea of them both pitching ideas, rivalling each other to see who could get their vampire movie made. “Surely Netflix will pick up one of our ideas, they kind of seem to make shows anything and everything.”

Huffing out a sigh, the leader shrugged at Sebin’s question, even though he knew the other couldn’t see it. “I am, I guess. But I can’t fall asleep. I feel tired but really awake at the same time, you know?” 

Pursing his lips, he wondered if he should ask if Sebin would allow him to sleep in his bed. But he also didn’t want to be a bother. “Are you tired?”

To receive a gift from Chaewon was not usually a good thing. Of course, she always had the recipient in mind, but her gift-giving abilities were mediocre at best, and most of the items that she gifted hadn’t been bought with her own money. Or bought at all. They were either pick-pocket finds, ground finds, or low-tier thefts. Most of her friends knew this very well; it was one of the things about Chaewon that everyone found out about, sooner or later.

This time, the victim recipient was Taewoo. She had asked him if they could meet up specifically because she had a gift for him. “Hey! Wait ‘til you see what I’ve got. It’s perfect,” She said the second she laid eyes on him. “Just give me a second.” She slung her backpack off her shoulders and unzipped the main compartment, sifting through the variety of knick-knacks that had been sitting around in there for who knows how long. “Oh, here it is,” She mumbled, fingers retrieving a tiny item and holding it up like a prized possession.

“It’s a little stop sign, since you never let me hug you properly.” Since you never let me get away with my sneaky habits was what she meant — she figured that it went without saying. “I know it seems like you couldn’t really do anything with a tiny stop sign, but I think you could. You could put it in a flower pot to accessorize, you could make art with it, you could put it on a chain and make a necklace with it… Lots of options!”

Early on in their friendship, Taewoo had learned the hard way that he needed to keep Chaewon’s sticky little fingers away from any part of his outfit that might have pockets. Her habit wasn’t something that reared it’s ugly head every time they saw each other, but it was often enough for him to not to take any chances. Because of this, every hug from the shorter woman was redirected, the Danger leader always pushing her arms up, forcing her to hug him around the back of the neck if she was planning on greeting him that way. Which was a shame, because he really did love a cuddle.

It would be ignorant of the blonde to not assume that this gift Chaewon had for him was stolen. But there was also a guilt feeling gnawing at his insides at the fact he always assumed the worst about the young woman. “You didn’t need to get me anything, really!” The much taller of the two assured her with a light chuckle, holding his hands up defensively as he watched her rummage through her bag, feeling somewhat nervous about the whole ordeal. Is it going to be something he’s going to have to return on her behalf and apologise for?

“Oh that’s... Really thoughtful,” Tae spoke pensively as he took the tiny stop sign from his friend, smile still across his lips. The gesture kind of made sense, but he was still a little confused by it. What really mattered is the way she was looking at him, eyes wide with hope, like she’d just handed over a diamond. “I think I could be able to make a necklace out of it. Then I can wear it all the time. Thank you, I love it.”

Geonwoo should probably be getting ready for bed now. The rapper had never boasted the best sleep schedule around– Geonwoo tended to be one of the last leaving the practice rooms and studios each night– but recording for their debut album started tomorrow, and Geonwoo needed his rest. He knew though that, even if he were to lay down in bed right now, all the lights off with RJ sleeping soundly next to him in silence, his brain would eat away at any chance of sleep.

Geonwoo wasn’t an anxious person by nature. He didn’t stress over minor things on a daily basis, and he never cared much about what people thought of him, either. But when it came to debuting, Geonwoo was more nervous than he’d been in his life. The preparations for their debut were in full swing, and Geonwoo had been practicing his raps day in and day out, but he couldn’t be satisfied. He was good enough, he knew that much, but good enough wasn’t remarkable. Good enough wouldn’t last in this industry, even with a name like KMG behind them. Geonwoo needed to be amazing, and every time he delivered the lyrics, he felt like he was missing the mark.

It took a lot for Geonwoo to even consider asking for help, so the fact that he was actively seeking out Taewoo right now was practically a miracle. He’d spent most of his life shouldering his problems on his own, gritting his teeth and just trudging through when things got hard, but as much as he loathed to admit it, this wasn’t just about him anymore. Whatever he did would affect the group. The songs and the albums were all of theirs– even Sebin’s, regretfully– and Geonwoo didn’t want to be the one to mess up and hold them back.

He knocked on the door to Sebin and Taewoo’s room (after making sure Sebin wasn’t inside, of course), pages of lyrics crinkling from his other hand’s grip. “Hyung,” he called through the door, hoping he didn’t sound too off. “Can I run something by you?”

While Sebin was nowhere to be found, and he wasn’t quite ready to go to sleep yet, Taewoo was relaxing in the other’s ground level bed, not bothering to climb up to his own bunk just yet if he knew time would barely pass at all before he was sliding out of it again. He knew his group mate wouldn’t mind, he’d spent enough nights accompanying him in his bed to know he was fine with sharing his space. The leader’s switch was held high above his face as he continued to work on his island, digging for a fossil when he heard an unexpected knock to the door.

The sound startled him, his body jolting and his fingers relaxing their grip on the portable console. He wished it hadn’t, but it fell on his face, a yelp leaving his lips soon after as he rubbed at his cheek and nose. “Ohhh my go-ho-hod,” he groaned, sighing out of his nose as he began to roll over, sitting up on the edge of the mattress as he listened to the voice on the other side. He knew it wouldn’t be Sebin, since the other would simply walk into their shared room unannounced. 

“Geonwoo?” The older male questioned, padding over to the door as he continued to rub at his nose, quiet noises leaving his switch where he’d left it on the bed, not bothering to move it after it fell on him. Hopefully his skin wouldn’t bruise on the impact, that would be fun to explain to his manager. Opening the door, he stepped outside, knowing that his roommate wouldn’t be the most pleased to find this particular member in their room when he was ready to go to sleep. “Of course you can, but shouldn’t you be sleeping?”

     *  IF  YOU  WERE  GIVEN  A  CHOICE ,  would  you  pick  a  slow  crawl  to  madness  or  simply  give  up ?  here’s  the  unfortunate  thing  in  choices  that  involve  surrender ,  rj  would  NEVER  throw  in  the  towel  which  is  exactly  why  he  was  in  this  situation  to  begin  with .  he’d  set  out  on  something  of  a  baking  journey  &  while  he  began  optimistically ,  he’s  likely  beginning  to  worry  his  members .  of  course  just  buying  macarons  was  preferable  given  all  that  he’d  already  gone  through ,  but  his  sights  were  set  &  that  satisfaction  of  knowing  his  own  hands  were  the  ones  to  produce  such  a  sweet  treat  would  be  his .  it  would  be  easy  if  only  the  margin  for  error  wasn’t  thin  as  a  hair  &  each  step  needed  to  be  done  exactly .  when  it  came  to  cooking  he  could  easily  follow  a  recipe  but  baking  was  a  different  story ,  especially  with  a  recipe  so  complex .  

          what  he  had  effectively  made  were  various  flat  sugar  discs  that  looked  better  suited  to  playing  mini  frisbee  with  than  eating  but  what  he  hadn’t  made  were  nice  fluffy  macarons .  this  had  to  be  his  eighth  batch ,  though  he  wasn’t  exactly  counting  anymore .  when  all  else  fails ?  employ  a  second  opinion  that  might  just  shed  light  on  something  that  he  couldn’t  pick  up  on  himself .  ❛ these  still  are  not  remotely  how  they  are  supposed  to  look  but  am  i  getting  closer  at  all ? ❜  a  silver  lining  is  that  he’d  became  a  pro  at  beating  egg  whites ,  so  much  so  his  words  were  distinctly  empty  &  his  gaze  hadn’t  drifted  from  his  bowl .  ❛  i  can’t  tell  anymore . ❜  

For the majority of the day, Taewoo had done his best to stay out of the dorm’s kitchen. The aroma of what could only be described as a sweet mixture of sugar and fruits had filled their shared living accommodation, but the leader couldn’t have told you what his group member was baking if you’d asked. He decided to leave the other to his own devices, only making his way into the area if there was something he really felt he needed. The few times he’d stepped foot into the kitchen, it constantly seemed like the other was trying to create the same thing over, and over again, but he wasn’t exactly sure what the problem was.

With his head stuck in the fridge, he reached in to grab out a cold bottle of water, the lid making that satisfying click sound as he opened it to take a long sip. Danger had been afforded a quiet, relaxing afternoon, so Taewoo himself had been remodelling his island on animal crossing. He had never been one for baking, or many other indoor activities. Most of his interested were more focused to the outdoors. Humming out at the question, the taller male padded over to where RJ’s several attempts at what appeared to be flat macaroons were lay out on the counter, tilting his head as he examined them. “I think these ones are a little thicker,” the leader pointed out, unsure if what he was pointing at were one of the first, or the more recent batches. “What about it are you trying to change each time? Isn’t there something about like, the longer you whisk the eggs the more air gets them in, or something? Are you using an electric mixer? Do we even have one of those?”

Mostly, he was talking about of his ass, but maybe something he said would offer some help.

as taewoo mimicked his own pout, kiki couldn’t help but roll his eyes at the other. he could take the teasing, accepting the welcomed distraction from the anxiety trying to settle deep inside his bones. still, he couldn’t help but notice the exhaustion in his friends eyes, noting how hard it must be to be in his position right now. though he slightly envied their debut, he wasn’t sure he’d be willing to exchange places with him.

“you look tired.” the words were meant not with malice, but with worry for one of his best friends. he’d seen their packed schedule for the month – which barely allowed for rest in the first place – and worried that the other was burning himself from both ends. still, a smile tugged at his lips as taewoo told him he missed him, feeling the same way.

“you only miss me because you’re too far to bother me.” he teased, sticking his tongue out towards the camera of his phone. running a hand through his hair, he felt his anxiety slowly calm itself down just from seeing taewoo’s face, even if it was just through a screen. “you should be getting more rest though. i’d make you some tea if i could.”

As he spoke quietly into the phone, Tae had yet to settle, still aimlessly padding around the dorm quietly as he listened to his friend speak on the other end. While he’d been unable to sleep before, he was worried that if he did sit down, he would immediately start to feel tired, and he didn’t want to do that to Kiseok. The soloist had clearly facetimed him as such a late hour for a reason.

“I guess I am tired,” Taewoo shrugged. He had every reason to be. There was worry laced with excitement at the thought of they up and coming debut, but that also meant it was full steam ahead for them to be prepared for the day to come. It was also very late, and he supposed anyone would look tired at this hour. Even Kiki.

If they were together in person, as his friend poked his tongue out Taewoo definitely would have pinched it between his fingers. He was that kind of person, the kind that would try and sneak his finger in your mouth while you’re yawning. You know, annoying. The comment about the leader bothering him definitely wasn’t too far off the truth. “You can make me tea when you’re back, you can make me as much tea as you want.” He smiled as he spoke, willing the yawn that he could feel brewing to go away. “And you’re right, I do miss bothering you. I miss other things about you too. Except bothering is definitely at the top of the list. It might even be number one.”

Sebin had spent enough time with Taewoo to know that something was bothering him. He would never piece together that he was still unsettled by the moth that they’d seen hours ago, but he knew it was something — that was the only reason why he was trying to hold back any mean remarks such as shut the fuck up, Taewoo or you may not be able to sleep, but I’m tired, so leave me alone.

Instead, he lay in silence, half pretending that he was already sleeping and half trying to come up with some kind of answer for the ridiculous question. There weren’t many people whom Sebin would even amuse such an idea with, but of course, Taewoo was one of the few. After a long silence, he finally answered, “Hmm. I guess there’s no way of knowing unless it happens, but I’d say that he’d turn into a giant bat and take over Gotham.” 

He could hardly believe the words leaving his mouth, and his exasperation became obvious with a heavy sigh. But if asked, then he would deny that had sighed at all, and would instead claim that it had been a yawn.

“What do you think would happen? It sounds like it’s something you’ve thought about before.”

For a while Taewoo didn’t think Sebin was awake with the lengthy silence that filled the room before he finally heard a quiet reply. Continuing to stare at the ceiling, Tae thought about Sebin’s answer, and he couldn’t help the frown that appeared across his features. He wasn’t a comic book nerd, by any means, and he’d only seen a few of the Batman adaptations, but he like to think he had a basic knowledge of that universe. Maybe it was him being tired that was making him stubborn, his mind’s unwillingness to calm down after the bug attack being his downfall.

“But isn’t Batman’s whole thing is that he protects Gotham. Why would he try and take it over?” The leader asked his friend, maybe a little too seriously. Especially for this time of night. Or, it could even be morning by this point. “I think it would be deeper than that. Like, if he needs blood to live and suddenly needs to feed off the people he’s been protecting for so long? That’s deep. That’s an interesting story. I should pitch it to someone.”

It’s clear that Sebin is tired, but he’s still entertaining Taewoo’s need to talk out his feelings, without talking about his feelings. This isn’t the first time it’s happened, and he’s deeply very thankful for it.

with danger’s imminent debut, kisoek felt nothing but pride for his friends – even if that pride may be twinged with just a single pang of jealousy that he’d never admit to. they’d worked so hard for this, put so much effort into their work that kisoek couldn’t help but smile at the though.

still, it felt strange attending b3 tru without them, even if he knew it would be like this long before he left for camp. though a sociable person, the camp didn’t allow much time to socialize and get to know other trainees – leaving the blue haired boy feeling strangely alone.

“i’m not pouting.” the words came out followed with an even bigger pout, though it was just for show. finding a nice spot on the ground, he sat with his legs crossed, chin propped up against his chin. “i’m having plenty of fun. i just can’t sleep.”

a sigh escaped his lips as he looked around him, glancing around him to make sure no one else was awake. “did i wake you up? i’m sorry.” a frown settled on his face as he finally realized the time, picking at a thread on his pants to avoid staring at the screen of his phone. “should’ve texted you before just calling.”

As he watched his friend through the screen of his phone, Taewoo mimicked the pout that was being directed at him, his bottom lip poking out even more dramatically when the other tried to convince him that he indeed, wasn’t pouting. The leader was still hazy from being in his dark bedroom for so long, and realistically he was tired, although sleep simply hadn’t been able to take him yet. He was kind of thankful for the distraction.

The consideration from his friend, even if it was after he’d potentially woken him up, was sweet. It was one of the reasons the blonde really liked Kiki. There wasn’t a bad bone in his body, and had become one of his best friends in the industry. Even if he was asleep, he wouldn’t be mad about waking up for him. 

“No, you didn’t wake me up,” Taewoo assured him, the mocking pout across his lips turning into one of his trademark, toothy smiles. His eyes were definitely drooping with how exhausted his body was. If only his mind would get the message and catch up. “I was too excited to sleep, thinking about this month. Oh and, I just missed you so much. I couldn’t possibly fall asleep thinking about you.”

The dorm had felt a little tense as of late. There’s something negative in the air between Geonwoo and Sebin, and their leader isn’t sure exactly what that is. He wondered if this is something that often occurred between group members, especially when there’s pressure building as they draw closer and closer to their debut each day.

At first, he thought the Leader Support Squad had been a joke. A myth. A legend. Then, he was added to the group chat. It had become a useful source of information, and he definitely wasn’t shy when it came to asking questions. But this sort of thing felt more personal, not something he could announce to every other group in the big three companies.

Which is how he found himself out to dinner with Seungyong. Particle was very busy this month, and he was thankful their leader had taken time out of his schedule to meet with him. Especially about something he wasn’t sure if he should be worrying about or not. Sebin assured him it was nothing, but Geonwoo’s body language suggested otherwise. 

“How has your comeback been this month? Your stages are looking really cool!” There was enthusiasm in his voice as he spoke, a smile across his lips. He wasn’t sure how to start the conversation he really wanted to have.

seolhyun didn’t imagine the b3 tru camp was going to be very different from regular training, aside from the change in scenery. however, what really made her excited for the nearly month long training camp was the opportunity to see and practice with trainees from the other big three companies. she wouldn’t trade the girls of lark for anything, but it was fun to see her friends from outside of summit, especially when they didn’t have to go over hurdles to schedule a time to meet. the excitement dampened a little when she heard danger wasn’t going to be making camp. it made sense considering their quickly approaching debut date, but seolhyun still had been looking forward to seeing the group.

phone in hand, she made her way to the coffee shop she arranged to meet taewoo in. she had texted the older trainee once whispers that danger would be skipping out on b3 tru camp reached her ears. are you not coming :((? even though it was confirmed, the two of them were able to find a time before the april third departure for busan to meet up. especially since it would be a month until they would see each other in person again.

she rounded the corner to the coffee shop, waving brightly when she saw taewoo outside. “you’re here early! i thought i’d be the first to arrive.”

Perhaps Taewoo was a little... Jealous of the other trainees who were all getting to spend time together at the upcoming camp. One thing he prided himself on was having lots of friends from lots of different companies. They were great resources for networking, and also just for good company. The boys from Danger were practically his family already, but there were times it was nice to get out of the dorm and see life on the other side. The other side being other company’s dorms whenever he paid them a visit.

It seemed that he wasn’t the only person upset by Danger’s absence from the camp, receiving a text from Seolhyun of Lark a few days earlier asking to meet her for coffee. Making time was the least he could do, considering he wasn’t going to be one of the people travelling to Busan for a while. 

Even though he’d arrived early, he didn’t order his own drink, waiting patiently for his friend to join him so they could order together. 

“Of course! I was so excited to see you, I couldn’t help it,” the trainee grinned as he greeted his friend, standing up from his seat to offer a tight hug as she approached him. “Are you ready for camp? Are you packed? I’m a little jealous, I wish I was going, too.”
