I have a terrible jealous streak and it's eating me alive. Every little thing that people do better than me sends me back into depression. I don't know how to deal with it.
The hardest part to solving any problem is to admit you have it. I’m glad you asked for advice before you let this spiral out of control. I’m very proud of you.
Now onto business. Jealousy is an emotion that arises from feeling inferior or insufficient. Most people feel insufficient when they compare themselves to others. So the solution would be to stop comparing yourself to other people.
I know that sounds like a hard thing to do, and it is. But remember that there will always be people who compare you to others so let them do that; that’s their job. Your job isn’t to be better than everybody, it’s to be the best person you can be.
If you ever feel bad just write down all your good qualities and read them aloud to yourself. You should feel better afterwards. If you still feel bad vent to one of your friends. I’m sure they’d be happy to help you!
Just remember you don’t have to be better than anybody to be the best person you can be! As the saying goes you can’t compare apples and oranges. So stop comparing yourself to others. Be proud of who you are, because I know I am!
