The Advocate personality type is very rare, making up less than one percent of the population, but they nonetheless leave their mark on the world. As members of the Diplomat Role group, Advocates have an inborn sense of idealism and morality, but what sets them apart is that they are not idle dreamers, but people capable of taking concrete steps to realize their goals and make a lasting positive impact.
“Every man must decide whether he will walk in the light of creative altruism or in the darkness of destructive selfishness.”
- Martin Luther King
Introverted 85%.
This is very accurate on Jaebum’s end. As much as he seems to be outgoing, it’s really mostly with his members and work related. He knows how to balance the two somewhat, but he’s an introvert at heart. Like the few solo v-lives he’d done, it showed that his personality is actually more quiet and shy than anything. He’s said before he has a difficult time expressing himself and opening up, so It’s really no surprise that he is an introvert. Despite coming off as slightly boring and kind of intimidating to the fans when he shows his true self, it’s really nothing but the fact that he is just a shy introvert through and through. A harmless one at that.
Intuition 75%
For this one it was actually a bit interesting, because Jaebum has been known to focus on day to day details and have a set plan for everything -- though it does make sense in a way. He does have goals for his group and for himself, so focusing on the big picture is something that I could see him having to do as a leader, which it does seem like he has showed signs of that in past things. Although it’s a bit hard to pinpoint when exactly he’s shown these qualities, since most of the time he seems more focused on the present more so than the future, but he has been known to have a set plan for everything, according to the members, mostly Jackson in a few different question and answers.
Feeling 66%.
This was the one that was the most surprising, since most of the time Jaebum seems more like the logical type, and he’s even show this in the way he thinks during their reality shows when he needs to solve problems. But, it can also be seen that his feelings do get in the way every so often. As much as it doesn’t seem like he’s the emotional type, he actually is. Which you’d be able to see in the way that he acts in regards to his parents, and in regards to the anger issues that he’s shown quite a few times in their appearances on shows. I’d say he has more of a balance between the both, but it does make sense that his feelings are more apparent than his logical side. He just isn’t very skilled in showing that side to himself.
Judging 100%.
Completely true, it’s not difficult to see this in Jaebum at all. It’s truly noticeable in everything that he does. In almost every single appearance and reality show, anyone can see that he approaches things and lives in a way that’s more structured. He has plans for everything, and he knows exactly what he’ll be doing on a day by day basis. He organizes his things as well as his schedules not just for himself, but for his members as well. It’s a very leadership type of a quality, which is exactly why he’s landed that role. He was born to be a leader, and the best leader according to his members and the person that distributed this test to them.
Turbulent 85%.
Jaebum is definitely someone that may come off as confident about everything that he does, but he is still someone that is concerned about how he’s perceived. It shows every time he says his goodbye speeches during fanmeets and concerts, how he’s always telling the fans that he will work hard to be the best that he can be. He’s always concerned about how he’s perceived, and how his group is perceived, because he knows just how easy it is for humans to make mistakes. He makes them all the time. A calm and collected exterior, but a worried interior.
After he checked over the WiFi connection one more time, just to be completely positive that it wouldn’t go out -- much like many of the other vlives he had done with his members, he found it to be working perfectly fine. Which, in turn, caused him to briefly smile. This would be his third time doing a solo stream for the fans, and much like the rest of them, he was sure it would get mixed reviews.
‘Jaebum is too boring.’
It wasn’t anything he hadn’t heard before, and he learned by now to ignore the malicious comments. The people that truly enjoyed seeing him were the ones that this stream would be for. That’s why he did the things he did. All for the people who supported him without even a second thought. They deserved this, they deserved more than this actually, but this was all he could give for now.
He quickly glanced over at the clock on the wall, crossed his legs and situated himself on the floor of the practice room -- as well as did a once over of himself in the mirror across from him, just one more check at his own appearance...and, it was time. The nerves in his stomach got the best of him, as they always did every time he did solo things, but he would try his very best to represent himself and got7 as he always did.
As soon as he started the stream, the comments came rolling in. He held off on answering them, and instead let out a soft chuckle and how eager everyone was to get them to speak to them. “You were all waiting it seems? I didn’t know anyone even knew I was doing this..” He let out a louder laugh this time, slightly shy, but it was nothing but joyful. “It’s been a few months since I last did one of these. Did you all miss the puzzles? I didn’t. This is just me stopping in. I’d show you where I am but that would give it all away..as Bambam already did..Was that a good enough hint?”
After finishing his small little speech, he began to go through the comments -- despite how fast they were coming in, he still managed to catch a few. “You’re right, I am at the practice room. We have a comeback in the works, a special one. I hope that you all keep watch for it, we’re always working to improve.” Jaebum glanced around the room, shaking his head at the comments to show them the room just in case the other members would magically pop out for the fans to see. “Ah, I can’t. Sadly, it’s just me. Are you disappointed? You’ll see the others soon. They’re all getting the rest that they deserve. We’ll come back to you all as a rested Got7.” As he said that, he smiled and bowed his head.
“I better get going..I have some work to do. I just wanted to check in on you all and show you that we’re doing fine and we’re working hard. See you soon, alright?”
..at that, the stream ended, but not without a reassuring smile from him.
‘ Not here to lose
Not here for you to choose how we, should be
Cause we’re not part of your machine. ‘
When him and Jinyoung had been called in to meet with JYP himself, this was the last thing he’d been expecting. Well..he expected it, obviously, this is what him and Jinyoung were told was going to happen. But, this..This had to be some kind of joke. With how much work he had put into every single piece of work he received, did he really deserve this? Did he really deserve to not have a single say in what the outcome would be?
Of course not, you’re just the money maker. Didn’t you know?
The distaste was written all over his face, and if JYP didn’t notice it, then Jinyoung surely did. It took everything in him to hold his tongue and not speak a single word. His eyes, filled with dislike and not a single ounce of happiness began to scan every single person in the room. If Jinyoung hadn’t nudged Jaebum with his elbow to get him to smile and bow his head, he would have slammed his hand right on that desk to express his opinions right then and there. But, of course, he couldn’t do that.
“Yes, understood, hyung.” Another bow, the best smile he could possibly muster, and he left the room with Jinyoung as fast as he could. He refused to spend another minute in that godforsaken room. He’d rather be anywhere but there, with all those people that he didn’t want anything to do with.
Once out of the room, far enough away for Jinyoung to be the only one to see exactly how he felt, that was finally when he let all of his emotions come out. His fist immediately connecting with the wall beside him, despite the pain of it all -- Jinyoung knew better than to stop him in one of his moments, which explained the youngers lack of response to his actions. It was such a common thing, the anger. It got worse the more he forgot to acknowledge it.
His fist stayed pressed against the wall, but his head turned to look over his shoulder at Jinyoung. It wasn’t a fearful sight, to say the least. If Jaebum could have saw himself at that moment, he knew that he looked so pathetic that it actually pained him. He had feelings too, that’s all he had to keep reminding himself. They are valid. People can’t always like each other, it was human nature.
“This has to be the shittiest news I’ve ever received. I refuse to accept it.” Those were the only words he could muster up, but they were enough to express his feelings to Jinyoung. They always understood each other, even if they were wrong.
“And, maybe, none of this is for me. None of this has a purpose. I can do all of these things on my own time. I don’t need your help. I don’t need you to teach me anything, because I am fully capable of doing whatever I want.” His arms were crossed tightly against his chest as if that would somehow protect him from the words he was sure would backfire against him. Young, but not stupid. Jaebum was more educated than most of the kids in this institution, but what he didn’t have? Maturity. He thought he could take on the world without any consequences. He thought he could say and do what he wanted without repercussions.
Well..life didn’t work that way, and he was sure to find that out soon enough.
Leader: Always knows the best thing to do—and people follow.
Rebel/Revolutionary: Stands opposed to the status quo and fights for his cause.
A rebel arises.
Day after day.
Month after month.
Year after year.
Was it ever going to end? It didn’t seem like it, and as he sat there with his chin resting in the palm of his hand, eyes averted towards the window -- since whatever the teacher happened to be talking about didn’t interest him in the slightest, he allowed his mind to wonder. To what direction? He hadn’t a clue, but he did know he was going to let himself think of everything he could be doing besides wasting his time and life in an institution that only the higher powers wanted him to be. This wasn’t what he wanted, it never would be.
His parents wanted it, that was for certain. Every single time he came home he’d be asked about his grades, about his work, about any activities he was going to be joining instead of just going to his class -- was studying not enough? He spent his entire life in front of a desk thus far, and he was still only fourteen. The least they could allow him was some free time..not that he actually did do the work. Enough to pass everything, that’s all he really needed to be doing. It made everyone stop bothering him, at least. That was enough for him.
His teachers wanted it. With false smiles and promises that he could only go up from where he was at from that point forward, they only pushed for him to keep working. Their scoldings meant nothing to him, though. In one ear, and out the other, that’s all they were good for. He didn’t let those thoughts out during their requests to speak with him. Each time he promised he would do better, and he promised all of his work would get handed in. The empty promises he gave them in return? They also didn’t mean a thing to him. Maybe they noticed his vacant desk every so often, that only became more and more vacant as time passed on.
What his parents didn’t know, for some strange reasoning that made it seem like the entire world was actually on his side -- was that he had been skipping classes. He’d gotten tired of it. The daily routine. The extra studying, the fact that he wasn’t allowed to leave even after school was finished...it drove him absolutely insane. Insane enough to the point where he had to begin taking other means, ones in which he knew could possibly ruin him in the future...but, he simply did not care. He didn’t care of the consequences, nor did he care about the fact that he possibly may never be able to attend college.
As long as his parents were unaware, that’s all he cared for.
Day Two.
“Jaebum? I need to speak with you.”
That brought him out of his own thoughts soon enough. His chin almost smacking right off the end of his own desk as he jumped slightly. Not startled, but when one was so immediately jostled out of their almost dreamlike state..it was just a tad bit frightening.
‘You’ve got to be joking..’
Those were the only thoughts running through his mind as he got up from his desk, walked over to stand in front of the teacher, and stood there as he waited for the class to empty out. Despite not being told what the topic of choice was..he already knew. He should have known before he even made the choice to begin this stage of...rebellion, for better choice of words. It was written in his teacher's eyes, every single time he came to class after missing multiple days. After not handing in an assignment. It was written in the eyes of his parents, and all over their faces. They knew. Even when he was so sure of himself, so sure that he’d never be caught. It was the beginning of just that.
Not so fearless anymore, right Jaebum?
“We spoke with your parents.”
And, there it was. Everything he feared to become a reality, finally was settling in. In the pit of his stomach he felt the nerves building up..but in the back of his mind, he felt that tiny little voice telling him to do it again. Nothing could get worse from here, not if he truly believed that education just wasn’t for him. The adrenaline mixing in and confusing him to the point where he really just didn’t know who he was anymore, only caused him to ignore the words being spoken to him even more so. His head nodding in response to the words that he couldn’t hear, and finally, he was sent on his way.
His parents knew, his teachers knew, hell..even his friends knew what he was up to most of the time. But, that wouldn’t stop him. His beliefs were firmly planted into that thick skull of his, and as much as he knew what he was doing was wrong, he believed that he was in the right. It was the most basic rule of any human being; do what you enjoy doing, your time is limited.
Even though those rules usually didn’t start to implement themselves until one finally knew oneself. Unfortunately, Jaebum did not.
One year later.
The one thing that Jaebum always knew, was that even if everyone told him he was wrong, his suspicions always proved to be right. School was never going to end? Completely and utterly correct in every single way. He was still there. Still seated in front of a desk, chin resting in the palm of his hand as it always was. The teacher droning on and on about things he didn’t care about..once again. It was as if the previous year going by was simply just repeating itself once more. School still didn’t mean a thing to him. His views still hadn’t changed, although he did come to a compromise with his parents to where he got the free time he wanted..in exchange for him completing his school work on time. Not the best, but it was a start towards the direction of his freedom.
Before he knew it, the day had ended. His bag was slung over his shoulder as he trudged through the hallways of the building that he, quite frankly, despised more than cream sauce being poured over his meat -- and he really did hate that the most. Yet, something stopped him in his tracks. Had he forgotten something? A textbook he had left behind in his classroom that he probably needed? That couldn’t be it, as he patted his bag to make sure that everything was in there...but, finally, it dawned on him. The faint sounds of music, something he hadn’t exactly heard happening in the now, mostly empty building. It caused him to turn around in his tracks to follow the sound that kept him from leaving.
And, when he found it..something inside him had changed. Something that he really didn’t have a single clue existed. Cliche at its finest, in fact. As he leaned against the doorway, his eyes glued and wide open -- he watched his fellow schoolmates dance, something that he hadn’t seen before. It was unfamiliar to him...so much so, that he actually never even knew that this type of after school activity even existed. Although he was almost certain that this wasn’t a school owned club, it seemed more as if they only asked the school if they could use the facilities. The rest, it was all on their own time.
..he needed to join, no, he demanded it more like it.
A leader is born.
“Our debut is soon. How does it make you feel, hyung?”
It was a question that hadn’t left his mind from the previous day. Out of the blue, Jinyoung had asked him just that -- and even now, as he laid beside the younger male on the floor of the practice room, he still thought about it. He thought about it in a way that he never would have thought about before. He truly had grown so much in such a short amount of time that..he never stopped thinking. His thoughts going a thousand miles per hour every second of every day.
Would his parents be proud?
His teachers?
He wasn’t sure, but he wished he could go to them right now. He wished that he could show him the Jaebum he was at that very moment. They probably would have never seen it coming, especially coming from a child that once only thought of himself. That once, never even thought about the future that he was going to have. The path he was going to take, or the views he was going to have.
A Jaebum that everyone could be proud of...imagine that.
“It makes me feel so extremely proud, of you, of us. You’ve worked just as hard as I have, Jinyoung..you’re going to become even better. We’ll become better..together.”
Judah liked to take walks alone with his puppy whenever he was upset. And right about now, he was upset, actually more than upset. He shakes his head, rubbing his hand over his face with his puppy perched on his shoulder. It was then that a guy on a moped pulled up next to him. The guy looked rich, big expensive (authentic!) Rolex on his wrist, Louis Vuitton bag hanging off of the handlebars. The guy said something about needing a ride, and-- honestly, it’s always been a dream of his to ride around, to be whisked away by a rich Italian man, and it looked like now was his opportunity.
The accent was thick and it made Judah melt, honestly. This was dangerous, he didn’t know this guy, he could get kidnapped, but he got onto the bike anyway. They ended up riding all around town, talking in loud, heated breaths and throwing their heads back and laughing all day. When the guy (who Judah later found out was actually the grandson of very wealthy businessman Patrizio Bertelli-- who’s married to Miuccia Prada) dropped him off at the hotel, they exchanged contact information and even a kiss. Judah never thought this would happen to him-- he literally felt like he was in a dream all day. “Thank God for Rome,” he breathed, laughing as he opened the door to his room.
