Your Muse Lacks:
Iris is lacking:
vitamins
a clone
a real life
“I-I do get enough vitamins, but...” Holy shit, that second one is...kinda rude, isn’t it? Consider she used to be a twin and all...

There’s a crumpled piece of paper lying on the floor in Iris’ room. Forgotten and unnoticed, never properly thrown away. Through the crumpled edges, there seems to be writing on it.

Dear Phoenix,
I thought of you again today. My favorite radio station here plays lots of romantic songs and while I can usually enjoy them for just that, today, there was a request from someone who wanted a song dedicated to their ex, someone they still loved. Someone they hadn’t seen in quite a long time. I thought that maybe I could listen to it and still be okay, but I’ll admit. I cried. I thought about you all over again.
I still remember daydreams from back then. I would imagine all sorts of things. What it would be like to buy a house with you. How elated I would be, to wake up and see your sleeping face the first thing in the morning, the walls of our home behind you. Would we get a cat or a dog? Both or neither? I imagined the effort of a fish tank, but how worth it that would be for us.
You were still studying and doing art, so I liked to imagine you could put your art up around the house, too. Embarrassed when guests came over, but I would praise you like I always have. They’ve always been lovely to me. I would sing in the kitchen and you might sing with me if you knew the words. Our home would be a happy one. Safe from everything that had gone wrong in my life. If things went wrong in yours, then I could help you. No matter what it took.
I shouldn’t have imagined those things, though. I was giving you nothing but lies and I thought about a future? What kind of terrible person does that? The guilt in my chest over that- even now- breaks my heart a little more.
I can’t tell you I love you anymore, whenever I’m reminded of it. Can’t let you know you’re on my mind. (Not that it matters, perhaps; you’re always on my mind. I only try to preoccupy myself so it feels like you aren’t.) Cooking is an affair once again locked to the kitchen of the temple, and not that apartment I still think about sometimes. The lunches and snacks I would prepare for you back then.
How can I ever apologize enough? Especially when
...The letter trails off. The handwriting started getting shaky at the end, and there’s odd crinkling in the paper that wasn’t caused by crumpling it up. Had she been...crying? Her tears hitting the end of the paper?
It seems so.
How do you feel about Hazakura Temple?
Ask my character “How do you feel about ______?” Can be an idea, person(s), place, or thing, and they’ll have to answer honestly.
“My feelings…are still mixed. On one hand, it’s a home. It’s the only one I’ve ever had. Home wasn’t with the mother who didn’t want me for what I wasn’t born with. Home wasn’t with the father who so easily gave me up… Yet to the shrine maiden who took that little girl in, gave her a home when nobody else wanted her…
“Yet when I broke his heart, I treated it like my prison. Took my training as a punishment for what I’d done. In the end, I twisted such a safe place into what held me back. Ruined…the one place that had protected me for so long. I’m still trying to get myself to walk over Dusky Bridge… I can’t do it anymore. Not after Mr. Fawles. Not after the fire and what I had to do…just to protect others.
“…It’s still a home. Where else would be, if not the temple? But before I can, I think… I think I need to get away from here for awhile. So that way I can get that full feeling back, without it being tainted by other things.”
📖 for whoever you like!
Send 📖 and I will share an entry in my muse’s journal/diary!
Dear Diary,
I promised I would update you more and I know I’ve not been much good at doing so, but I think it’s incredibly important to write this out. To note the date and record it for the future... As for all the years I’ve been a part of the Fey clan, this has never happened. Nor have I ever heard of it happening, but...anyways.
This man came by the temple today. Came with him a weepy-eyed mess of a young girl with black hair and brown eyes like gems. An absolute doll, even with her flushed cheeks and tears...and this man tells me he doesn’t want her anymore?! Apparently he divorced his wife and is remarrying... Can’t handle taking care of all three girls. Well, I tell you, I was livid. What kind of father does that to a child? The worst kind! If he wouldn’t care for her, then I would!
He left without a goodbye... She tried so hard to be strong, but she was crying hard enough that her little hand in mine was shaking. Broke my heart into shattered pieces, I tell you what.
Got her blankets and hot cocoa, since that’s what an abandoned child needs more than tea. She’s not up to talking a lot, but she did tell me her name is Iris. Pretty name... Like the flowers. She liked me talking about the flowers; calmed down a lot as I told her about the people in town I knew who run a flower shop. Maybe we’ll stop by there soon. Give Iris something to look forward to.
She’s sleeping in my room tonight. Not used to sleeping without her sister nearby, so I’ll have to do. The anger hasn’t worn off yet- nor may it ever- but she’s so, so sweet. It’s hard to be angry around her. I’ll try to find lots of fun things for her to do, but... As things are here at Hazakura, I just might have to put her to work, too. Not thrilled about it, but I could use the helping hand. I just hope her good attitude lasts, even for “boring” things like cleaning.
Anyways, I should get to bed. Iris still hasn’t gone to bed yet, so I think she’s waiting for lights out. Guess that means she’ll fit right in?
Well, goodnight. I’ll write more tomorrow, if I can.
🌷: meadow headcanons (Iris)
Spring Headcanon Prompts
There’s actually a meadow located nearby the temple, one that quickly bursts into life with fresh grass and wildflowers during spring. It’s her favorite place to go during the spring and summer months, even if the heat can be a little atrocious... (Oh, the humidity!!) It’s also the same place where the Haru Matsuri (Spring Festival) is held, where Iris will play music for a short time before dancing among the cherry blossoms and their falling petals.
For ideal flower viewing, this is typically held around April 12th and 13th. It also includes a few fun games from vendors in the nearby town of Chisana and the aforementioned entertainment.
If you’re curious on where this area lies on the Hazakura map, here you go!
The purple circle is where the meadow is located.
...Though if one wants to be a little more man-made... Hazakura Temple does host a small garden of it’s own, largely tended to by Iris since Bikini’s back began to worsen and tending to it was no longer a possibility. It’s small, but lovely, with a few colorful flowers to sit out among a largely green area decorated with a black pine, lush grass, and a pond near the center, decorated nicely with a small, red bridge.
Very calming to look at, which would be serving it’s purpose.
🌧: rainstorm headcanons // of course, for the lovely iris <3
Spring Headcanon Prompts
When Iris was younger, rainstorms used to frighten her something awful. Harsh pounding of raindrops was enough to make her hide under her blankets and curl up, but any thunder or lightning sent her into a wailing, crying fit, rushing for Sister Bikini in order to seek comfort. (Iris later believes it was less of being scared of the storm itself, but more the fear that nobody would be around to help her through such a dark, noisy time. After all, her mother, father, and twin sister seemingly abandoned her... Would Bikini do the same? It’s that kind of fear that amplified her rather small fear of storms.)
During the present time and beyond, Iris since has overcome said fear...and a fair bit of what really started it (i.e. her fear of abandonment). Now she can actually appreciate them, as long as they aren’t too harsh.
Lighter storms are rather fun; making warm drinks, pulling out snacks and cookies for their guests and acolytes... Maybe even sharing stories or helping parents assure their young ones there’s nothing to be scared of with the storm passing through.
If it’s harsher, Iris is usually in full gear, helping Bikini assure guests and prepare for the worst. Typically it’s roof damage, so preparing buckets just in case or getting out storage things, in case the power were to go out. (Lots of lanterns, candles, and extra blankets.)
What Shape Does Your Pain Take?
A Picture
A picture. A single image reminding you of someone or something you've lost, something you don't want to live without. You can't seem to move on, to accept life has changed, to live again. You're trapped in the picture, in the past.
Maybe this was a lost family member or friend, maybe this was a sickness that isn't going away, maybe this was sinking into depression. But you can't help but remember how life was before, how life after will never be the same, and can't help but feel that nothing in the future will be able to fill the hole the past left.
Nothing lasts forever... Right?
