Bye Bye Big Brother

It wasn't fair, at least she didn't think so. She wasn't too much younger than him. Ten years wasn't that much big of deal. He was only 18, and she was eight. That couldn't be that big of a difference, it wasn't to her at least. She had watched him turn into a teenager, and as people were saying, into an adult. It just wasn't fair! He was her big brother, he wasn't some adult like ma and pa were.
Momo peaked into the kitchen as her brother opened the acceptance letter to the college he applied for. From her view so small, so close to the ground, everyone looked so happy, so excited. Her parents were smiling, her father giving that once in a lifetime nod of approval, her emotional mother hugging her eldest and only son. Momo wasn't seen, but she was happy about it that way. All she heard were flustered or excited words about plans, packing, dorm rooms, finishing high school, traveling, leaving home...
Leaving.
That hit her in a fashion of which she would have never expected. He was leaving?
Before she thought she had been noticed, she turned and scampered down the hall and up the stairs, then made a B-line to her bedroom. She closed the door, making it slam a bit more than she had wanted to. Sitting there, she waited for the scolding for slamming her door, but when it didn't come, she figured that it was because her family was still celebrating. Quickly and quietly, the dark haired girl crawled under her bed, dragging all of her horse toys and favorite stuffed puppy with her. The stuffed animal was as big as she was- big, fluffy, and black- she said it was a "Newfie"- a Newfoundland- and that stuffed dog stuck out from under her bed a bit, as she never had the strength to pull it all the way under with her. She just wanted to disappear, because if her big brother was going to go away, she wanted to go with him...
It just wasn't fair.
