(*) Selene had never been one to stay out late into the night; there were always excuses at hand and ready to use in case her co-workers invited her for dinner or to have fun at the nearest bar. It wasn’t that she was a total bore who never had fun but it was because going home had always been the best part of her day-- that is until recently.
She knew her fellow doctors were just as surprised as she was when she found herself agreeing to head out to the newly opened night club near the Beverly Hills area with all of them. For a moment, there was hesitation and a desire to make up another excuse about changing her mind but she remembered that no one was probably at home, waiting for her, anyways. And so not too long after, here she was, seated in one of the booths with a glass of Margarita in her left hand and music pumping loudly from all sides.
It felt odd to be by herself like this but she pushed away any thoughts of a certain sun god lest she wanted to dampen her mood. She nodded and laughed at all the appropriate times while only half listening to whatever her companions were saying. How disappointing it was to still feel alone like this despite being surrounded by so many people.
Under the pretense of going to the restroom, she excuses herself from them and stood up to explore the place. The club was as chic as everyone said it would be and the music was actually really good now that she was able to listen to it well. Smiling slightly as she nodded her head to the beat, she leaned against the railing of the balcony that overlooked the dance area unaware of the person who stood beside her, looking at her with a knowing smile.
