[Kieran notices. He notices the change of her outfit since this morning and the makeup that subtly covered her face. He notices the way her hair is sticking to the sweat beading against her forehead because she’s working herself so hard but he doesn’t point it out. He doesn’t point it out because she’s doing this for him and he feels his chest swell. He does what he’s told but he always leaves at least one eye on her, ready to jump to her aid at any moment.]

[Kieran hasn’t even removed his coat yet, too busy trying to keep Joey from knocking him back out the door and from seeing her. Call him crazy but she kind of reminded him of an angel. He starts to remove his jacket and he makes a statement, hoping it encourages her even a little bit.] I’m a lucky man, I’ll tell you.
[He starts to remove his coat and she’s at his elbow immediately, taking it from him and folding it over her arm to hang it on the coat rack in the living room. When she returns she’s smiling, though a little tiredly.] You don’t need to thank me, really.
[Once she’s gotten the rest of the food ready to serve (and the pots and pans in the dishwasher thank god), she brings them to the table and takes a seat, finally letting out a sigh of relief.] It’s just-. You bought me a house. And a dog. And you always say-. Stuff like that, it just comes to you so naturally and it doesn’t to me. I don’t have...words like that rolling around in my head, things just are and maybe I’m not the best at showing you or saying it but I...y’know. [She gestures to the food, before grabbing the wine to pour him a glass.] I’m trying?
