"Got you your favorite," Ash came round and threw an arm around Ruth's shoulder, dangling a packed bagel to go and a cup of coffee placed on her tent table. "The coffee's really good actually," he gleamed with satisfaction having already taken a sip from his own. "Now I know you're busy making sure everyone's safe, but surely you can spare brunch time with me?" Ash prodded her arm lightly before settling in without really waiting for her answer, that's how it usually is with them. Both too stubborn to stop working unless the other pushes themselves in apologetically. "How's the day been? No emergencies so far, I hope."

"Do I have to? You could just save them for emergencies instead, y'know," Ash grumbled at the set of pills placed in his palm and a cup of water in the other while Ruth did her routine check on the rest of his injuries. Though he knew there was no other answer other than yes, so he downed them all anyways. By now, he was able to sit up in his bed at least, and the past few days and nights had been weathered through, physically, mentally, emotionally, somewhat coming to terms to the state he's in and the reality of things now - almost.

But the withdrawals were the things that hit him more than he thought they would, so he wouldn't question Ruth's, perhaps nor Vikram's, prescriptions. The routine had been set and familiar now, Ruth coming in morning and night check ins, medication and food brought, sometimes with or without the other doctor. It felt like he was back at that hospital again despite here in his own apartment. Ash winced at a dull pain as she worked, trying not to let it show. He was familiar enough with her routine, starting to change his own bandages that he could reach on his arms, nodding towards his ankle, "the swelling's gone today, think I could walk on it?"
