The tea house hummed with the activity of a bustling afternoon, the clinks of spoons and cups a calming mantra that played beneath the veil of chatter. The smell of spices was thick in the air, Daegil catching the warmth of autumn both sweet and blunt rolling high into the ceiling off rising steam. It was calm. Comfortable. Relaxed, Daegil soaked in the fading minutes that came with the fleeting fall, patient for Junoru’s - his server- return.
And return he did, though frantic in pace and worry. He weaved back and forth through the masses, the weight of the busy day heavy and crushing. What a shame. Lips curved into a lazy smirk, Daegil watched, amused, as Junoru turned toward him, trays in hand and exhaustion burning his limbs. “Really busy, I take it?” the question he almost asked.
Encumbered, Junoru lost his footing, tripping and falling forward with a bitten “woah!” Both trays clattered to the ground - porcelain shattered and tea spilled - but Daegil, moving forward, was fast enough to catch him before he fell into the mess of broken shards. However, the move was not graceful, and as the man’s back met the floor with a painful thud!, they were washed in the room’s sudden sounds of startled gasps.
Lying there, Daegil was aware of the faint pounding at the back of his head, the sharp bones against his legs and heavy weight on his chest. Junoru, silent, hovered inches on top, lips slightly parted with words he couldn’t - and wouldn’t - find. His hard knees bore into the curve of those long legs, hips dug too close, and smaller frame pressed too deeply— The inhales he took sloped atop of him, the exhales he dared dusting across his face. Junoru lied there paralyzed, motionless, fingers resting on the plane of a wider torso. He could smell the smoke that clung to the man below him; it rolled off his breath steady and slow. His heart fell into his stomach. Dammit, Junoru realized. A bit too close.
“I’m sorry,” came the hasty apology as the server darted back up, Daegil lying there watching with— Was that a smile? Why was he smiling? Brows furrowed, Junoro hunched back down, pulled napkins used to clean at the spilled tea. “I was clumsy,” he excused oddly, agitation creeping into his bones. “That never happens.”
But his wrist was suddenly pulled from his work, Junoru’s movements abruptly stopping before he turned to find Daegil beside him, his larger hand stilling his own. “Even the best make mistakes,” came the easy reply, a voice that flowed thickly with that young boldness. Junoro wasn’t sure if he despised him yet. “But don’t go burning yourself like an idiot.”
Quickly, Junoru’s fingers loosened around the napkins, a defiant “I’m not an idiot" his silent retort. At that, Daegil laughed, dismissive and forgiving, and irritated embarrassed ( his face glowing red hot) he was convinced he would not like this man. Not at all.

“You’re driving me nuts!” she yelled, an anger that crept up her voice like cracking thunder and raging swells. She was a volley of spite both unforgiving and brutal, and when given the chance, she’d effortlessly tear him down. She’d rain down holy hell— Honest, she would.
However, Daegil remained unimpressed, a bored “wow, and here I thought it was just me" the only result her anger bore.
Oh, goodness, she was being tested.
Slamming her books down onto the table, any lingering ambition to study was effectively squandered. In lieu of it, however, was the need to bicker and argue, Tenten’s fury directed toward the insufferable man standing idly across the room. Arms crossed, Daegil watched her. Relaxed, he did not flinch.
Taunted, Tenten rose from her seat and accosted her roommate. “Listen here, Daegil,” she seethed in all the manners of promised destruction and pain, a level of intimidation meant to silence and paralyze. However, the tactic did not go as planned, and as she angrily devoured the distance that separated them, her footing floundered and her balance rocked. Frantically, Tenten tried to recover from her mindless mishap, but fortune would not grace her, and down down down she went.
Falling into him, Daegil’s back met the ground with a loud and violent thud!, Tenten’s small frame safely nestled into his chest. She felt the groan growing deep in his chest - the one below her fingertips, warm and present - but the sound never reached her ears, and she wondered, briefly, why was that? What had happened?
Her mind reeling from the impact, it took a few seconds to register what had happened: One, she was an idiot. Two, he was a mistake. And, three, they were kissing. Kissing.
Well, more appropriately, their mouths were slotted together - just touching - and that groan had lost itself in the press of their lips. Tenten, startled, retreated as quickly as she could, her face a deep scarlet that grew hot at her ears and all the way down to her toes. Still, she found it was herself who’d become speechless. Paralyzed.
“Was that really necessary?” Daegil grumbled lamely through the haze of her surprise, a hand rising to brush at the smeared blood on his lips. Blood… Blood? Soon, Tenten grew more acutely aware of the coppery tang on her own teeth, and, Christ, she bit him. She actually bit hi— “Next time, warn me first, alright?”
Stunned, the young woman looked down at him, fists clenching the hem of his shirt all the tighter. This good for nothing bastard… She should have bit down harder. Perhaps then he’d lose his ability to talk.

“I did it! I did it!” he repeated, voice cracking under the burdening strain of relief. Jace wove through the sprawling city as light as he’d ever been; he was on top of the world - weightless, falling - and the euphoria consumed him entirely and completely. Escape was as unwanted as it was impossible, and he thought, proudly, this was it. Everything’s mine.
His heart beat away loudly in his chest, the tempo and echoes like rapid fire. When he’d succumbed to his desire to scream, he was sure that all of Seoul heard him.
Or, at the very least, Daegil did. Turning to the sound of his voice, it dawned on him, and with eyes wide in surprise, he’d asked, in awe, “they signed you?”
Except he never finished, Jace tripping over his feet, dizzy from delight. The words were lost when they crashed, the older stumbling back step by step before his balance finally crumbled. With a powerful thud, the two tumbled to the ground, the afternoon crowd granting them wide berth with surprised “watch it!”s and gasps. Together, the two fumbled and fought, limbs caught and breathing quick. Separation was impossible, and resistance, as it seemed, was futile.
It was a crushing hug that tore every breath from out of Daegil’s lungs, and though the ensuing “you’re killing me here" rose, Jace’s embrace would not relent. To be honest, however, he hadn’t expected it to. Admitting defeat, Daegil craned his head to peer over at the man whose nose dug into his collarbone and whose awkward angles dug into his own. Hip to hip, elbows in his stomach, legs tangling and chests flush… All hard lines and muscle, the two intertwined strangely, but feeling the laughter that shook at Jace’s ribs - deep and humble - he was content to let him stay. They fitted better than he’d complained.
“They signed me,” Jace confirmed once he’d calmed enough, his blinding smile both mind-numbing and brilliant. “I did it.” He looked at him with that expression - free and overwhelmed and victorious - and as he got up on all fours above him, hands to either side of his head, eyes fixed on his own, that grin would not subside. And how could it?
It would have been impossible. Lying below him, Daegil felt that infectious smile overtake him, and smug as always, asked, “huh… Didn’t I tell you that they would the day we met?” And, all over again, Jace came crashing down, the desire to crush his bones with a crippling embrace renewed once more.

The night was never safe. Shadows drowned everything in curtains of endless black, the hours where monsters fed and lurked spiking fear like adrenaline in the veins. Murder thrived in the corners of the night, and the very knowledge simply frightened her to death. Yet, it all felt so suddenly tolerable… How had she come to think that?
“We’re here. Don’t forget to lock everything.”
Nana heard Daegil as he distanced himself, mind reeled back to reality as she caught the man’s piercing gaze. They’d known each other for a while… He told her he’d never hurt her, but his presence continued to keep her uneasy. On edge. Nana jumbled with her keys before the click sounded, Daegil’s hand opening the door wider for her.
A mute thank you lingered on her tongue, swallowed when she opted for silence.
But, as she moved forward, her balance fell, feet tripping in the dark and momentum changed. She expected an ungraceful crash to the floor and was surprised when it never came, a cut-off “be careful" sounding before a different collision.
As she’d guessed, Daegil’s body was cold to the touch, but there was a pulse echoing away. Life. She lied on top of him, chest to chest, hips close and feet just shy of meeting his ankles, and with his face so near, she could see the chilling reds that colored his eyes.
They were dangerous and different, but the intent was not there. He was hungry and he killed, but never for her. Nana’s lips parted, a “sorry" tumbling out, but Daegil pardoned, "it’s alright— Hey, why do you look like you’re staring down Death in the face?”
That wasn’t funny, not at all, but Nana saw the easiness in his expression, the cocky smile that said ‘I couldn’t help myself’. Her hands relaxed on either side of him at the sight, the breath she realized she held finally released. He wasn’t here to hurt her, hadn’t he made that clear? “Oh, you still owe me a thanks, by the way.” Crystal clear, but it’d take time.
Shaking her head, subsiding tremors fading, Nana murmured, “thanks.” Pressed against him, she felt his sudden twinge of surprise. He didn’t anticipate it. Slowly, the woman continued on with new found bravery, finishing, “for tonight. Every night.” She looked away then, but out of the corner of her eyes, she saw that teasing smirk of his weaken.
Now, it was touched with something content. “There we go,” Daegil began proudly. “It’s been a pleasure.”

“You’re hopeless,” the man groused, his thumb pulling a streak of wet paint along the curve cheek. Its color was a brilliant red, striking where Minsun’s skin was pale, its numerous strokes making a canvas out of her; everything may have been messy and patternless, sloppy and muddled, but, nonetheless, it was art all the same.
However, as Daegil continued to wipe at her face, a defeated “forget it" seemed to speak the contrary. Hand dropping to wrap around her wrist, Daegil announced, "we need a towel" then, more pressingly, "don’t open your eyes.” It was a difficult command to follow.
Blind, she slipped, the young woman stumbling forward until she found the solid length of Daegil’s chest, both bodies crashing clumsily to the floor. This was ridiculous, but her friend’s breathless swear was not. Startled, Minsun rose, a frantic “are you alright?” all she could manage before feeling the brush of those hands return to her face. ‘Stop moving. Keep them closed.’ Her brows furrowed as gentle fingers worked, her grip clutching tightly into the fabric of someone else’s jeans. One stroke. Rub. Two strokes. Rub. Then, breathlessly, “now, open your eyes.”
Careful, Minsun obliged, lashes fluttering open to find Daegil resting below her. He huffed a bemused laugh when their eyes connected, and a blush was quick to rise into her face. Lying atop of him, Minsun discovered how close they were, her small body cradled between his parted legs, the stir of his breathing keenly felt. And now he was messy, his skin and clothes stained in the same red she wore. But, my, it was a lovely shade.
“This is where you thank me with a kiss, I think.”
The sound of his voice was unexpected, that playful edge effectively tearing Minsun from her thoughts. Embarrassed, she darted away ( quickly, as if his words burned ) , exclaiming desperately, ”don’t play around like that!”
But it was harmless, and Daegil’s warm chuckle resurfaced as the two rediscovered space. Arms crossed over her chest, Minsun looked down defiantly at the man whose body shook with laughter, the sound pleasant and soft, almost enough to heal her nerves.
