Deep Sea Research Center
y’know, i like to think that there’s a small group of chao who live by the lake and are immortal, and darkflow takes care of them along with all the plants and trees
knowing her, she’s also probably named them all, too
also, speaking of the lake, if you click on the image credit link for the photograph that i put in the half-circle background, you’ll see that the lake has a dirt path lined with rocks that looks really pretty
thats how i imagine the lakes edge looks like, and theres a slight ledge that may prove difficult to climb out of in some places.
she probably maintains it and keeps it nice and just works tirelessly at all this landscaping in between her treks to other zones
Awesome commission done by @sarcasticasides I forgot to post until just now.
Misc. Rambling about the organization I had in a message directed to somebody else.
Sam kind of technically has a boss, they all kind of technically do. If you want to make it the same organization [because they both are already called the Hunter Organization so they can be same or different] just keep in mind my stuff about the HO. I've already had mentions of wooden and metal cards- wooden cards are given to some hunters, but metal cards are given to those who have achieved something that greatly benefited hunters or the world in general. All of them have wooden cards except for Balder and Sam. Balder has contributed a lot of research and the events between Sam and Vincent have led to her getting a metal card in this universe. Metal cards hold higher rank of course, and virtually wooden cards will always let a metal card take charge. There are rules about what metal cards can do, but Sam's group usually avoids any power situations since Balder and Sam are already metal cards. --- I didn't rely or plan much for how the founders and the board worked, but wooden cards can be given at any HO station. There is a system of rank for the higher ups that I never really went into so you can do whatever you want with that. They can't imprison or kill a human no matter what they've done, but if they've done something really horrible (say kill 10 humans on purpose) the board or whatever will agree to either give the police enough stuff so that they can get a heavy sentence or frame them for something equally terrible. Otherwise, if you really screw up or go against rank repeatedly (or once where it caused a lot of death/damage) then you get booted out of the HO and they take all but 1 or 2 of your weapons(or you pay a certain amount) and the card of course. The HO isn't any of the group's life though so losing membership isn't going to be important to them when push comes to shove. OH! This is important, REALLY important. (My) Vince is essentially a dependent of the HO, meaning they're his legal guardians. Stuff happened with his parents then his uncle and he basically ended up with HO. He was an instructor/head of a station up until Danny came around and got the gang together. He is over 18, but he does hold a bit of a higher regard for the HO than anyone else. And oh gosh, ahhh, I'm so happy- I wasn't sure if I could include this in the mainverse, but I'm totally doing it here. Basically, the HO knows a lot about my Vince and I'm not going to ruin any surprises so I'll be bringing in another character (maybe 2 or 3) from the HO who will be very high rank. Oh, uh for the higher ranks, how about something on the back of the card- Like a sort of symbol that will have a number in it and the higher the number the higher the rank with 1 being the lowest metal card rank and 10 being quite impressive, and nothing higher than a 20 I think. So I'll have HO people at 11 or 12, which will be access to about 85% of the HO's secrets. Sam will be a rank 1, and Balder a rank 3.
The Concept of Potential Relationships Between Vampires and Humans
Because I just queued a post that made me think about it, the whole “gender neutral terms” twitter post.
So, there’s nothing outright stopping a vampire and human from forming any relationship... but there’s a lot of unlikely stuff. Actual romantic relationships is one example.
So, quick mention on vampire’s brain functions/morality. The most inactive parts of the brain are “killed” when a vampire is turned. So, however the person is in their last moments has an effect on what they’ll be like as a vampire.
However, the parts of the brain that were “killed” can have low-functioning ability with enough time and as long as the vampire stays healthy.
Now, provided that the vampire is not thirsty this means that vampires are not complete monsters and thus relationships could potentially form with humans. The issue comes with the stigma AGAINST vampires as well as a few other issues.
There are a very small percentage of humans that are open to vampires, and a small percentage of vampires that try to talk with humans outside of peace agreements or feedings.
So, there CAN be good friendships or romantic relationships between vampires, but there are very few that actually exist because of circumstances.
The most common sort of relationship comes from vampires feeding on humans and there being a sort of prey/hunter relationship with the human fearing/hating the vampire. Then there’s the typical relationships vampires have with hunters.
After that there is a good subset of relationships that is neither completely positive or negative. Such as the benefits relationship, where a vampire feeds little bits off of a human in exchange for something or without their knowledge. There’s a subset where the vampires and humans get it on. Then a subset where the two know each other, but like how you know a neighbor sort of deal, usually with the human being unaware the other is a vampire.
After that comes the few good relationships.
Now of course these are all just generalizations and the relationships can be complex depending on who is with who and everything, but this is just a general rule of thumb for the society as a whole.
Like none of these directly applies to Erik(a)’s relationship with Sam- which is creepy. Yes, Sam hates Erika. However, Erika has this almost obsession with Sam which actually lends to some unknowing protection for Sam. Of course Erika also wants to kill Sam so I mean, that little protection isn’t that great, but hey it is what it is.
There are a very few and rare vampires that have managed to integrate themselves into human society while staying undercover. Put some plugs on their teeth, get a job where they can stay away from the sunlight or heat, find a way to keep feedings discrete- and they’re fine. In those cases they are fully able to have the full range of relationships (considering they won’t have their cover blown and are in human society because they WANT to be).
Vamp Names
Some explanations, such as why Alistair has such a ridiculously dramatic name.
//yammers about the upper and lower astral planes tbh. mobile so no readmore but i'll try to be brief between the over and underworlds, there are two twin planes. often these two planes act as a net to catch the overflow from the overworld. you'll find spirits there, essentially. just spirits. generally when you're using a ouija board, for example, what you're talking to is gonna be contacting you from one of these planes as they're more closely connected to the overworld. which means you absolutely should be wary. demons can get into the lower astral plane from the underworld, its just a matter of finding a good "bridge". tween places are good for this.
