Once that elevator descends into the ground, down to hell with his brother on it, Cuphead simply stands there, in shock, for at least a good 10-20 minutes. Half-expecting that Mugman would somehow just magically be okay, back up here with him. So many thoughts raced through his head. 

How was he going to get Mugman back? What would he end up needing to do in order to accomplish that? Man, how was he going to tell Elder Kettle? He almost had to, at this point. How would Elder Kettle react to learning that not only had Mugman been taken by the Devil himself, but it was because of him that it happened at all? The poor cup’s not even sure where to begin with this.
