I'm scared of Season Two...
I was going to start this blog by saying something like "it takes a lot to scare me" but the truth is I'm scared of many things... short list: snakes, sharks (i don't like to swim alone in a pool), bats, contagions, and many many more things... but what scares me most is tuning into watch season 2 of my "new favourite" show. The curse of season 2 is the worst thing that happened to television except for maybe Ashton Kutcher (Harry's Law is a close second). If you don't know what I'm talking about check out season 2 of The OC.
So with that fear in the back of my head I watched Girls Season 2 Episode 1 last night. My fears were heightened after seeing Lena Dunham rock the Golden Globes but I had hope, especially knowing that Donald Glover was joining the cast (I also like Community... but that too is a show with a down quality season 2). Skip to the ending... i LOVED it. Gone was the opportunity to explore and get to know the quirks of the Mains, gone was the shock value of seeing Lena Dunham expose all, gone was Jessa (at least at first)... But in came a re-org'd family unit featuring Elijah (Hello Andrew Dannells!) living with Hannah, a new relationship with my boy Donald Glover, Rita Wilson as Marnie's Coug-tastic mom (fun fact Allison Williams who plays Marnie is the daughter of Brian Williams of NBC Nightly news!).
I also loved the music choices for the episode... I heard some Carly Rae "Sweetie" in the background, Sho' rocked "Beautiful Girls", and Marnie's harmonizing of "Building a Mystery".
Adam kept his quirk and I have no clue where they'll go with that. They almost ruined part with the Marnie/Elijah bit too... but they pulled out of that nose dive in a hurry.
Anyways, I loved it. It was a truly solid start to season 2 and I'm ready for more.
