Happy female author appreciation day!!!  

As Virginia Woolf so aptly stated: “I would venture to guess that Anon, who wrote so many poems without signing them, was often a woman.” We are so fortunate to live in a time where a woman can write freely with the choice of signing her name on her work. However, this does not mean men and women stand equally in the eyes of publishers and authors yet. 

It is incredibly difficult for women in the literary world to get the credit they deserve, especially when compared to their male counterparts. In fact, only 22% of the rated most-influential authors were women, male authors are more likely to win career-making awards, and books about male characters get more literary praise.

It is important to appreciate female authors such as Cassandra Clare for their willingness to endure a position that can be so brutal to women. This tenacity provides each and every one of us with writing that brings a wealth of joy in our lives and paves way for a brighter future for women in every walk of life.

Thank you to Cassie for her insistence on supporting other female authors in the public eye, for her well-written and intentional inclusion of diverse characters, and for her unwavering devotion to us all!
