“WE WONNNN!!!!!!!” – are the first words that came out of many Canadians right after the winning goal in the #Canada vs. U.S. game this week at the #WinterOlympics. At the edge of our seats, we all watched the Canadian Women’s Hockey Team bring the Gold Medal, home! From the eyes of a Purpose and Power coach for young women – it got me thinking… These women made us proud with what they did in public – but, what about all the behind the scenes work? For all that time they spent each day on the journey till the #Olympics? #Success overnight? Highly, doubt it. Where you want results, you have to put in the work. Success does not come over night. And, I feel like we have fallen into this culture of thinking that everything will just appear on our table. Why is it so important to be perfect all the time? Why are we so afraid all the time of failure, rejection, and hard work? These women – who were on the ice – were a representation of possibility, power, courage, persistence, and strength. They kept playing, with all they had, till the end… And, it got me thinking about how much time, effort, practice, preciseness must have had to go into their craft. There were probably endless times they made mistakes or had to be on time-out – but they didn’t #giveup, they kept going. The game was such a clear reminder that what counts is how much heart you put in, what counts is how much of YOU are you willing to give to the world… Now think about it… Are our lives any different from the Olympics? When you are in the game of life - how often do you give up? Perhaps this is the time to rethink what is important to us in our lives… To think about the level we want to play at, and what we want to offer and leave behind in this world, beyond ourselves? Here is to a second chance at believing in victory, and who better than to learn it from our most recent heroines? To all you women out there, cheers! You already have the magic in you to make your life happen the way you want it – you just have to want it, and then play your game with passion!
