In a f.f7 verse, I 1000% think that Jianyu would dislike Shinra and join a rebel organization. However, it would be a front as a mercenary group with affordable fees for various people in all walks of life that puts an emphasis on dealing with monsters and unruly gangs, though said fees are being put towards other activities outside of just 'payment'. However, though he dislikes Shinra, Soldier, and everything it stands for, he would still find S.ephiroth to have been an impressive warrior all the same.
