C H A P T E R. 1 4.
Just let it rest Looking for a rope to keep me still Holing to the best of this and you Holding to the best of all this time
Broken Clock - Chris Pureka
+ Bonus:
The songwriter Chris Pureka has a line, “Looking for a rope to keep me still,” that has been misheard as “Looking for a road to keep me still.” The latter suggests a whole new sorcery: the way travel, or even running away, despite its hectic movement, can also ground us and bring us peace. The way leaving sometimes feels like arriving into who we are and who we want to be.

This Wish (rewrite) 🌟
I thought our dreams were meant to set us free. So why do I feel so heavy-hearted?
If I could show them everything I feel, What happens then? And do I dare to start it?
Whenever I stand, my mind says ‘sit down’. Afraid to share a wish that’s never coming.
I look around me now, and I feel I don’t belong. Yet, for being young, my soul will not hide this song.
So I look up at the stars to guide me, and reach after every trail across the sky. If no one else shall rise up here beside me, then let me be the first to stand in line.
Let me make this wish, to find something more than I can give. Let me make this wish, to find something more than I can give.
Hey-ey-ey-ey-yeah.
Hey-ey-ey-ey-yeah.
More than I can give, oooooh.
Everybody has a dream they can admire. What they can be, what they can do, a life that they desire.
But that’s a missing piece I left so long ago. Now there’s an aching in my soul, about to overflow.
If I could shake away this hesitation, find out where to begin. Could I reach for the skies, open up my eyes, for what I’m dreamin’.
If you can hear my frustration, my plee for determination, tell me how to make it through. My heart feels empty yet my head’s held high, the way they always told me to.
So I look up at the stars to guide me, and reach after every trail across the sky. There may be challenges that’ll find me, but at least no one can say I didn’t try.
So I’ll make this wish, to find something more than I can give. So I’ll make this wish, to find something more than I can give.
Hey-ey-ey-ey-yeah.
Hey-ey-ey-ey-yeah.
More than I can give, oooooh.
So I’ll make this wish, to find something more than I can give.
