Gollvelius' Tavern was a tavern in Menzoberranzan in the mid–14th century DR, located to the southwest of the city. It was a retreat for many of the drow.

Here, a band of adventurers from Icewind Dale found Jarlaxle, and they exchanged information. He informed the party that the people captured from their village might be used as fodder in a war between drow houses, in which they would be sent forth to activate the protective glyphs.

On the advice of Rizzen Do'Urden, the companions returned to Gollvelius' Tavern to speak again with Jarlaxle. He made a promise to supply them with the House Do'Urden insignia, in exchange for a golden necklace, found in the Mantle caverns. Jarlaxle didn't fully commit to his promise, but instead revealed to the party that a drow patrol of young nobles carried the insignia in another set of caverns nearby.

Paynn Citadel

I interpret the above to mean Paynn Citadel competes with the Academy in size, spanning from Old/Down City all the way up into Sun City... meaning Word and Zulay's tower is huge (32 km tall) and that *both* Moordryd's parents were terrible ambitious people 😂

Heckin love the writers attempt to make Moordryd's mom some redeemable lady just for Moordryd's character development, when she obviously had no qualms setting up shop with Word together in their giant phallic "I'm bigger than you" tower 😂

My personal thoughts are that OG DB's major plot issues were in part due to overpowering Word and the DEs lol/making the DH war an interspecies inequality fight, instead of relying on the interesting political/social situation of the city and its residents. It'd have made much more sense for Word to be struggling to seize control then, and desperate measures lead to tensions with Moordryd. If some catastrophic prophetic war is to happen, make Word's motives entirely different to Armeggadon etc lol. Perhaps the fleshing out of our lesser + major villains would've helped the main characters and their arcs 🤔
