bestie I want to hear about the localisation differences about bronev or anything else you wish
jak beloved you are activating my special interest trap card
ok so i have to start this off by mentioning that the localization of Miracle Mask was significantly different depending on the region. i don't know if they had completely different teams, or if the US version wanted to somehow appeal to American audiences in ways i cannot comprehend, but names, dialogue, character bios--all of these are different between EU and US versions. (if i understood Any Japanese i would comment on the original version too, but alas. anyone who would like to chip in is welcome to.)*
now, take a look at the following lines:
(left is EU, right is US)**
it seems to me like the EU localization wanted him to be more dignified and serious, while the US localization went for a more sarcastic, almost comically villainous interpretation. i mean, it WAS the US version that gave us the beautiful line "It is perfect weather for a day of world domination."
i wonder what it was like for his voice actor to record these lines that so drastically differ in tone...lol
*this is significant because the only other time Bronev appears (Azran Legacy), both localizations are identical except for the names of Rook and Bishop/Macaw and Robin.
