Here's a list of reasons why Wilbur's L'Manburg was authoritarian and not democratic, supplied with clips.

(it's not only because Wilbur wasn't elected).

Different forms of government have characteristics that make them such, and although not all of those characteristics fully translate to the SMP, I feel these labels can still be applied. In this post, I'll go over the characteristics that make L'Manburg decidedly non-democratic.

1. L'Manburg's leader wasn't elected. There was no vote to get him into power. He lead the revolution and was automatically made president without any official proceedings. As c!Wilbur himself puts it, "we're not democratic, I elected myself". [X]

2. A democracy requires the separation of powers. L'Manburg had a cabinet, which implies citizens had input into how the country was run, so let's look at which role every citizen had. [X]

Wilbur Soot — President. TommyInnit — Vice President. Tubbo — Secretary of State. Niki — Treasury of State. Jack Manifold — Ambassador, Diplomat to the Dream SMP.

It would seem there was a separation of powers since every citizen had some kind of responsibility (only Fundy didn't receive a proper title and was called Little Champion), however, from Tommy's stream, we learn that these titles gave their holders no power, and were mostly symbolic. In fact, Tommy believes the titles made the citizens feel more important than they ought to feel. [X]

Tommy: I'm noticing you're acting a little bit differently after you've got the new title Secretary of State. Tubbo: I du- I du- I dunno I- I feel empowered. *pause* What? I feel like you're acting diffe- differently because you're Vice President. Tommy: No but Tubbo, mine isn't a title, mine's actual power. Yours is just a title. Tubbo: No but yours doesn't mean anything either. Tommy: Tubbo, if I went "I am going to kick you out of L'Manburg" you would be kicked out for I am the Vice President. Tubbo: No. Wilbur only has that power. Tommy: No he didn- Do you know what a Vice President is? I'm his right-hand man.

Both Wilbur and Tommy could exile people at will, with no input from the rest of the citizens. All power was concentrated in the hands of the President, and in the absence of the President, it was in the hands of the Vice President. The cabinet of the Soot Administration did not create a separation of powers nor did it play a consultative role (unlike the cabinet of the Tubbo Administration, although even in New L'Manburg the president could veto any decision which means he still had unlimited power).

Another thing that points to Wilbur holding unlimited power is the fact that he could transfer the only other title with power at will, again, with no official procedures or input from the citizens. [X] (in this interaction Wilbur gives the Vice President position to Tubbo and then returns it to Tommy 2 minutes later). He also mistreated the only other member of his nation with power whenever he wasn't listened to [X] (Wilbur hits Tommy off the L'Manburg wall when Tommy tells him to look him in the eyes, saying "don't tell me what to do").

3. Another characteristic of an authoritarian form of government is the rejection of political plurality. It's hard to judge this one due to how simplistic political systems in Minecraft are compared to real-life, however, Wilbur Soot was going to run a one-party election, thus disallowing any other political parties in his country and limiting his citizens' choice in leadership to him and Tommy. The fact that he allowed Quackity into the elections later doesn't change the fact that the freedom to create oppositional political parties was originally limited.

It may seem like had Wilbur truly been a dictator he would've simply closed the ballot in spite of Quackity's complaints, but I don't think it's that simple. Quackity went against Wilbur because he felt Wilbur was committing an injustice against democracy [X], I doubt Quackity would've simply given up and moved on if he wasn't allowed into the elections.

Contrary to what Wilbur tells Quackity in the flashback, HIS power wasn't gained from "swords, blades, steel and iron". Wilbur is a bad soldier and general, his people have lost the war for independence (it wasn't the war that won them independence, but the disc trade). His power was gained through charisma, persuasion and Dream's grace, he didn't have any personal strength or an army to keep himself in power by force. If he wanted to keep his position as L'Manburg's leader, he had to maintain a good reputation, which was threatened by Quackity. Wilbur's only chance at staying in power at that point was winning the elections legitimately and thus proving that he was a fair ruler. Had he closed the ballot, Quackity would've told everyone of his affront against democracy and Wilbur's own citizens could've overthrown him.

Wilbur felt entitled to his position in power. At one point, he calls his voters rabble [X]. He did not think his citizens deserved a say in who should be president even after he was forced to play along with Quackity.

All of these things combined make L'Manburg authoritarian, from the moment of its foundation to its very end, as whether a government is authoritarian isn't determined only by the presence of elections, but a multitude of other factors, which I've listed in this post. The President's power was never limited and so L'Manburg was never truly democratic.

The Vanity Fair piece is an obvious PR plant, following conveniently after leaks about his work. Now we learn that Robert Downey Jr is/has been helping him. Time for Charmies to cut the clown show antics and admit the following. For starters: Armie went to rehab for substance abuse and sex addiction. He IS working as a salesman. He has $$$$ problems. He's on good terms with Liz, was with her recently in Miami. They went on to LA together. Image rehab time?

Exactly, anon. It's time for Charmies/Armie stans to face the bitter truths but they continue to lay blame on his "bitch wife". If they don't continue to make her the villain then they would have to face the fact that he did this all to himself and is now taking any handout he can get to clean it all up. Poor put-upon Armie. Miss me with that bs. He should be kissing Liz's feet on the daily because she truly could have made his life an even bigger hellscape than he managed all on his own

Some naruto facts the majority just won't accept

Shisui Uchiha's hailed the Fastest Body Flicker User Ever,at least before arrival of Prime Itachi and Obito.That is a huge feat since shisui was only 15 and his body flicker is said to surpass likes of madara,hanzo and raikages.

Itachi was the most talented genius in history of konoha,not minato,not sakumo,not hiruzen,not orochimaru,no one was as respected as itachi as a outstanding genius in academy.Danzo and all konoha instructor admitted it.

Itachi had perfect scores in academy,but that was in chunin exams and on it's paper test when he got second highest scores behind Minato.

Madara would've killed uchihas,just like Itachi but for different reasons.

It was pointless for konoha to banish kabuto or imprison him.Since itachi was already responsible for helping kabuto cleansing his soul.Kabuto is completely harmless and we can let him babysit orphans.

Rasa was the reason why sunagakure didn't end up like land of waves,where gatou was messing it all up and all was chaos.we can give him credit for it.

Orochimaru was motivated to keep on to upgrade the edo tensei jutsu even more after seeing tsunade lamenting over deaths of dan and nawaki.

Sakura is not useless.She was annoying at times but we really saw her development.at least she hasn't killed or raped anyone,right?! She played a very important role in wars,was one of few factors needed the most in war, she was kinda supporting the shinobi world with her medical jutsu.she did more than tsunade,shizune and the medical squad ever did.

Rin's death led to Obito see the harsh truth of ninja world.The system was curropted and even though obito messed up,killed many innocents,he wasn't a simp and all he wanted for people was to stop hating each other and fearing loss of their loved ones.twisted mindset but that's also part of brainwashing...

Hamura and Hagoromo were kinda equals in powers.Hamura later awakened tenseigan so he could be the only one out there who is capable of beating hagoromo.
