ICI TOUT COMMENCE ― E1297
rant gasp
the thing is about the Beatles fandom is that people either don’t look into more context or they excuse the Beatles’ actions too much
“John was just a complicated person!”
yeah he was, I know because I’ve done my research and since he’s my favorite Beatle but that doesn’t excuse SHIT🥹 he was not a good person
hitting cyn? Crappy
neglectful of Julian? Horrible
strangling may? Shitty
and a LOT more🥹
same with Paul, he treated women HORRIBLY (well actually all of the Beatles did) and I’m pretty sure he was racist, but yes, he has thankfully changed.
Ringo hit his wife Barbara in drunken rage, (he’s been sober ever since, so that’s good) cheated on Maureen plenty of times I’m sure
George cheated on both Pattie and Olivia a ton, and not only did he do that, but he cheated on Pattie with Ringo’s wife.
but then again there’s some people who don’t look into it and dumb the Beatles down to just wife beaters or something like that
like yeah, John hit his wife, but that’s not all he is, as said before he’s an extremely broken and complicated man
Paul is also extremely complicated- I feel like people forget that about him sometimes because he’s dumbed down to the “cute one” or the “pretty twink” (ok yes i call him a twink too) I’m pretty sure he had suicidal contemplations
Ringo is also dumbed down to just a wife beater, but he was also drunk when the most well known case of him abusing his wife, he was and is a good person and he’s changed his ways
ok rant end be kind and be safe peace and love
Monkeywrench heads anyone else vaguely terrified by the fact that this guy also seems to have tentacles on his head much like shrike. Anyone else scared of the implications .
Guess!!
UHHHH

I HATE BLAST PIT
the few books we've managed to find over disability we usually don't enjoy. i think it's them feeling like inspiration porn, or like it was written by/for a distinctly white, able bodied audience
i never read them and see myself in the character. i see them as a moving effort to prove others wrong. or some attempt to prove that they actually can do what people think they can't do
and it's not that i don't want that to exist. there should always be disabled fiction. we should be allowed to see ourselves in every story we read, but that's every fucking story i see. like we're some monument or concept you're mistaken over
i don't want to read about a disabled character in a way that feels like the "differently abled" conversation. cause i AM disabled. and i can't fucking do those things. i can't prove to others that i secretly can do things and am worthy of being there, im just tired.
i don't know, i just know that ive never gotten to read about how much it fucking sucks to live in a family who "doesn't believe" in disabilities. or how it doesn't just stop at being the weird kid in class that no one wants to talk to, or the fucking hell it is to be depressed in a room full of "hang in there" posters and your patronising teacher who insists that they're there for you while they joke about your rights being taken away
or fuck just disabled poverty in general. how all the characters can't fucking be black, and women at the same time, how it feels like im reading from the eyes of their pitying parents, how much of a fucking burden it must be to be them how fucking exhausting it is to just BE disabled
it just feels watered down. i finally read about what i have, but it's still censored. the "bad" parts happen off screen, and it skips straight to the aftermath. like we can't actually read how horrific it can be or how "unacceptable" the behaviors are and it just feels fucking patronizing
The part of little women (2019) where Beth asks Jo if she misses Laurie and Jo says “I miss everything.” Yeah. Yeah.
