Hi, Nina! I hope you had a wonderful holiday with your family and friends!
Charles’ win in Silverstone got me (naturally) thinking about Lestappen (the podium we got robbed 💔💔), specifically Omega x Omega Lestappen.
Idk if you’ve ever written an AU with them before, but I picture: Omega!Max who was essentially pressured into becoming Alpha-like by Jos ever since he was a child. Jos was sure his son would be an Alpha because Omegas are weak and pathetic in his eyes, housewives who only exist to satisfy their Alpha’s needs. And then… Max presents. A cruel joke from fate.
Jos is furious. He lashes out at Sophie and forces suppressants onto Max since he was a child. Max, at such an impresionable age, internalizes all of these beliefs and starts hating the Omega parts of himself (a little like Unconventional Omega!Charles).
Charles, on the other hand, had a great support system, and a father who, although he reminded Charles to be careful around some of the boys and taught him to defend himself, never forced Charles to hide. So now that he is an adult, Charles is completely comfortable in his gender, disproving all of the people that said “omegas couldn’t make it into motorsports.”
And, well, he might have also developed feelings for a certain “Alpha” Dutchman, who he has been dropping hints for over a year now. He knows Omegas don’t need a mate to be complete, but Max isn’t a need, he’s a want. He thought Max felt the same! So why does he refuse to scent Charles? Or go into the Omega’s nest when they are alone in Charles’ apartment?
Meanwhile Max is panicking because (1) he feels the same and it adds another layer of self doubt (omega-omega or alpha-alpha relationships are extremely taboo) and (2) he has been desperately trying to hide his designation since he was TWELVE. There is no way Charles would still felt the same if he found out Max’s secret.
(Another long one, I’m so sorry!! This idea wouldn’t get out of my head once it entered)

Hi 🐞 Anon!
Ohhh it's been a while (a year I think 😅) but there are a few Omega x Omega Lestappen drabbles posted! It's a little angsty, a lot fluffy, and just features Max showing Charles that it's okay to love another Omega and helping our Monegasque bby boy come out of his shell 🥹
→ Omega x Omega AU: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4
But this AU?? It's soooo precious 😩😍 just a deeply insecure Max with severe self-hatred because being an Omega has always been the greatest impediment of his life:
Not only did it "ruin" his relationship with his father (Max is convinced Jos would have loved him if he'd presented as an Alpha), but now...now it's going to ruin everything with Charlie. His Charlie.
Luminous, passionate, sharp-tongued, ambitious and...the sunshine of Max's life.
The amount of nights he's laid away at night, praying, hoping, wishing on fallen stars that he might wake up an Alpha so he could officially court Charles.
If he were an Alpha, he wouldn't have to stuff himself full of suppressants until he physically couldn't anymore and spent 5-7 days suffering the most brutal heat known to man because Max couldn't risk anyone seeing him like that.
He couldn't risk his career, everything he and his dad worked for, Max couldn't just throw it all away.
Especially now, when his friendship with Charles is blooming and the Monegasque Omega no longer scowls at him or pretends like Max doesn't exist. Instead, Max suffers exquisite agony as Charles eagerly approaches him with a lunchbox in hand, asking if Max would like to eat with him because he's packed too much food and the Alpha is looking much too thin these days 🥺
"Please Maxie? Let me take care of you?" Charles asks with a tilt of his head and those irresistible doe green eyes.
Max says yes before his brain can even register what's going on.
Now, instead of reviewing telemetry or sitting in on meetings with Pierre Waché, Ben Waterhouse, and Andrea Landi, he's sitting in Charles's trailer, the Omega on his lap, feeding Max bites of fettuccine with creamy chicken ragù and basil. The lovely Omega is giggling as he wipes away a bit of sauce from the corner of Max's mouth, playfully asking if "his Maxie" always eats "like a caveman."
The only thing running through Max's mind is I'd like to eat you out all day every day but he can't say that because he's been sweating bullets all afternoon.
And if he makes one wrong move, his scent patch will come sliding off.
And Charles will be greeted by Max's natural scent. His natural, sweet Omega scent of vanilla bourbon, creamy chocolate, and decadent espresso.
Max wants to laugh at how he basically smells like walking tiramisu, as if his own body has decided that if he must smell like an Omega, then he'll smell like his Charlie's favorite dessert.
His heart is beating so fast Max thinks he might go into cardiac arrest when Charles leans in close, asking if Max's eyes have always been this blue...?
And Max tries to stand up, he tries to say he has a meeting with...someone...but his body feels heavy and slow, his limbs refusing to cooperate. It shouldn't happen—this shouldn't be possible because Omega-Omega relationships are taboo and wrong and unnatural. His dad said so, everyone said so.
His body shouldn't be reacting like this—it's not biologically feasible.
It's his clumsy, uncoordinated movements that result in him knocking off his own scent patch—
And like a dam bursting open, Max's rich, sweet scent fills the trailer so suddenly that it leaves both of them breathless.
Humiliation, panic, and blinding fear freezes Max in place as he sees his future (his heart, his life, his dream) shatter in front of his eyes.
But Charles?
Charles doesn't see any of that.
Instead, he smells vanilla and coffee and the yummiest chocolate scent in the world.
He smells a tiramisu so decadent and rich that it causes a gush of slick to soak through his panties and stain his skin tight white jeans.
Charles doesn't even hesitate before he throws his arms around Max's neck, snuggling against his Omega's broad chest with a happy purr. "My Maxie." He clings onto him. "Smells so good and perfect and all mine."
"Charlie..." Max's vocal cords are shot to hell—he can barely articulate words in his native tongue, let alone English. "Charlie—stop, you...I mean, I need to go and you—listen, this is...I mean—I...please. Please don't hate me. And please don't tell anyone."
The sudden, intense fright in Max's voice—one that causes him to cower away even as one hand tentatively rests on Charles's lower back—tells the Omega everything he needs to know.
He lifts his head up, the happy joy vanishing from his body.
"You hid this." He says quietly. Neither of them need to elaborate on what "this" refers to.
"I did. So I could race in F1." Max's head is bent, face red with humiliation. "I lied to you. To everyone."
"You did what you had to do." Charles doesn't defend Max's decision but he understands it—god, does he understand it. "And I will never hate you or begrudge you for that, Max."
"I'm not an Alpha." He can barely force the words past his lips but...
Charles deserves to know.
He deserves to slap Max and call him names and throw him out of his trailer.
Worthless.
Useless.
If I'd been an Alpha, then I could have had a chance with you.
But instead of feeling Charles's hand shoving him away, Max feels a soft warmth press against the center of his chest.
He opens his eyes—
To see Charles pressing the softest, sweetest kiss—right above his heart.
"I know." The Ferrari driver murmurs, lips brushing against the fabric of his shirt. "I don't mind."
"But—"
"Do you like me, Max?"
"I do." He replies instinctively—naturally—because liking Charles was never the problem. "I just don't...are we friends?"
Charles blinks up at him, looking very much like a startled kitten. "Yes." He finally says after a pause.
Max nods.
He thought so.
He shouldn't have gotten his hopes up.
Charles is kind. While he may not throw Max out of his trailer, he'd never...never date him either.
Why would he?
When Max can't love him the way an Omega should be loved.
Not when Max is the wrong designation.
Meanwhile, Charles:
He's holding back tears and hurt and heartbreak because Max clearly doesn't want anything romantic with Charles.
He's just someone who's uncomfortable with revealing his true designation and thought of Charles as a friend.
Max was likely getting so annoyed with how Charles was always flirting with him, clinging onto his arm, and acting like a pest.
The Monegasque Omega wants to slink away and cry in his nest but Max looks so shaken up after revealing his true designation that Charles manages to push aside his own pain to focus on Max.
To take care of Max.
Even if the other Omega never wants Charles, at least he can be there for Max as a friend.
And if friendship is all Charles can have, then he'll cherish it forever. So long as he's with Max, then it's worth it.
