some thoughts after watching Send Help starring Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien:

subverts gender power dynamics in a way that seems to intentionally make men uncomfortable- the ‘fixing’ scene?? Jaw dropped.

Asks the question of “can a character be the protagonist AND the antagonist?” (answer: if the audience is watching for the plot/rooting for Linda, she is the protagonist. If they switch sides and root for Bradley, she becomes the antagonist. Her role depends on the neutrality of the fourth wall.)

Purposely withholds scenes from the audience to make us a reflection (a product?) of Linda’s denial/gaslighting. We are not just observers but active participants in the psychological thriller

Bradley’s arc was typical of stranded-on-an-island characters: learning skills to survive. Linda’s arc was the opposite because she came to terms with killing (innocents). Bradley wanted to leave, Linda wanted to stay. Both would do anything to achieve their own goal. Their parallels are natural enemies, which both foreshadows and precipitates the final confrontation.

The progression of Bradley, from being 1) the obvious villain (obnoxious useless privileged bully) to 2) the dude who Does Things in Reaction to his Situation to 3) oh shoot, the victim?

The competence of Linda was soo satisfying, coming from someone who watched Scream 7 recently

I feel like stiles would be into being a secret dom. He definitely thinks it’s so hot that every one of his friends thinks his gf is in charge when in reality he has her drooling and whining every night.

He just thinks it's normal because that's what all the pornstars have. What he imagines is a big dick is absolutely ridiculous and unrealistic, probably even impossible.

The first time they had penetrative sex, her eyes went wide at the sight of him. He didn't understand why and tried to brush it off, saying, "Don't worry, it'll go right in. It's average."

Honestly? I’m just waiting for the first Linda Liddle/Bradley Preston fanfics to show up. Would it be weird? Yes. Would I read it? Well... yeah… probably.

The movie was honestly just a few steps away from being a rom-com if—well—it hadn’t been a psychological horror. But sorry, Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien just had chemistry. Even if she was a psycho and he was an asshole. 😅

Before, you could always tell he really hated it. Except, of course, when it comes to his own film Twinless.

A press tour honestly seems like a pretty exhausting, boring stupid job to me. The same questions over and over again — silly questions, boring questions — that just keep going on and on. Long days filled with interviews like these. It all feels very outdated, like something from another era, and it hasn’t really changed in decades. It would be nice to see a different approach at some point, because even though some of the youtube clips themselves are fun, there’s usually very little variety in the interviews. With a few exceptions, it can be pretty dull.
