*Stax wakes up not long after. The dream repeating on loop. But they don't wake with a scream. They just wake quietly. They stay silent and don't move, listening for the announcement.* -🥞

Soon after you wake up, the announcement comes over the intercom.

"Attention, all members of SIDES, we are assembling a search party to find a missing member of ours by the name of Val. All information aside from part of her name, her gender, her division, and her being a mage have been eradicated from members' memories. We must get her back, lest there be potentially dire consequences. I have been informed that no one on the Prism team is allowed to join the search, as we need them here, but aside from that, anyone is welcome to help us."

*a group of soldiers that don’t seem to belong to Urbanshade barge in the room* “Command, this is attack force 789! We have found the painter! Preparing to neutralize!” *one of them opens a portal and grabs the computer*

"What...? WH- HEY-!"

The cage falls with a loud clang, leaving Painter vulnerable and ready for the taking. They aren't nice with the grabbing and taking, either.

"NEU- NEUTRALIZE?! WHAT?! WHERE ARE YOU TAKING ME?! I-I'M NOT DONE WITH THI-IS PLACE!!"

He desperately tries to get out of the soldier's grasp, heating himself up, to no avail.

"NO!! LEMME-E GO!! PLEASE, DON'T TAKE ME FROM THEM!! PLE-ASE!!!"

Helpless. Again.

Doom just stands there with her hands on her hips, looking down at this sad lump of cowboy mess.

"What the hell is your problem? Did you get capped?" Doomsday asks point blank, not quite understanding - well, what the hell is wrong with him. She doesn't see any blood anywhere, but there he is, just... lying there.

"I thought you couldn't like, die or whatever."

She grabs a nearby stick and starts poking him with it just to be sure he isn't actually dead.

Butch groans upon hearing the familiar but stern voice, the tone she takes making his head ache that much more. Doomsday more than likely hadn’t gotten a good look at his horns before they had grown almost two inches larger!

A weak and shaky hand moves to brush that stick that pokes him away, the man burying his face in his pillow before shifting to look up at her, brows furrowed in pain. His face is unshaven, bearing a good amount of stubble that he would never ever allow himself to sport when going out.

“T-Th’ hell’re ya doin here…” He grumbles, bringing the wool blankets up just a bit to cover his shoulders. “I—…I don’t know. I jus’… woke up feelin’ like this. Like… death.” He grunts, rubbing his face with his hands at an attempt to relieve us aching head. Death actually might have sounded better than how he was feeling at the moment…

How he had agreed to “kill” Cerise in exchange for a SOUL under the assumption he’d be able to trick his way out of it, only to find out they wanted no part of his plan.

Fortunately, however, an audience member had told him someone he knew with deep web connections might be able to help him find a way out. And so here he was, begging Skuld for help.

He was leaning with a forced casualness against the wall of his "dorm room," though he knew full-well that the other soldiers' dorms didn't have locks on the outside of their doors, or a giant viewing window for constant monitoring (not to mention the cameras they hadn't bothered to hide). Favoring the smallness of his humanoid shape, as it gave him more space in the little room, with all its cold walls and unforgiving lack of privacy, the assassin flipped a butterfly knife they hadn't confiscated off of him this time-- as it acted as his only source of entertainment while he wasn't on a mission.

It wasn't rare for someone to approach his window, but all the same, his gaze flicked over to it when there was motion-- and he was surprised when it wasn't someone he recognized. Standing slowly, he approached the window with a canted head. He didn't say anything just yet, as he simply stared instead, testing the human's bravery. Would they run at the unwavering stare of a killer, or would they stand their ground? He wanted to find out. -[The Indoraptor for Clemcy]

The human… grinned. There was a predatory edge to his own eyes, a calculating deliberation as his gaze swept the soldier from head to foot. But there was also genuine warmth as his eyes settled back on the Indoraptor’s, meeting his stare without a hint of a flinch. He seemed pleased, if the slow grin was anything to go by, and when he spoke his voice was almost—fond. Certainly indulgent. “Oh, you are a beautiful creation, aren’t you. And here I’d been worried they’d simply put together a genemod human.”

The stranger leaned against a wall near the window, tilting his head as he studied the room. “Pity about the cage, though.” He eyed the butterfly knife. “And the amenities. I’ve seen better mind paid to the mental health of zoo animals.” He gave a derisive snort and lifted one eyebrow at the Indoraptor. “And you’re certainly more than that, no? They even claim you can talk… but people trying to secure funding will say all sorts of things. Don’t worry. If they were exaggerating, I certainly don’t mind getting creative.”
