Is it just me, or do any of y'all dislike it when the whumpee dies in the end or faces an ending that will undoubtedly never get better?

Like, I like whump.... but....

Can't you give ma boi a somewhat happy ending please? I mean, if they die, then things can never get better..... so like....

I'm not against them going paralyzed in the end. Or going blind. Or even mute. But like, if they don't achieve their dreams.... and it's obvious there's no hope to do so. Or if they fall in love with caretaker, but will never be able to see them again, even though caretaker is alive and loves them back(but for whatever reason I'm okay with caretaker dying, as long as there seems to be hope in the end?).
