Rook Tarot Card Asks - Felix Mercar
Judgement: How does Rook approach difficult decisions? How do they cope with the consequences of those choices?
Every difficult decision gets filtered in his brain at a rapid speed roughly like so:
Firstly, the emotional knee-jerk reaction to the choice. This one is often steeped in his wants and ideals. It is not always the right or practical choice. Secondly there is the little voice speaking to him of the greater picture, the voice sounds suspiciously like his father. Thirdly there is the brief WWVD (what would varric do?), this one is only helpful sometimes and often boils down to the sentiment "just don't get yourself killed, kid".
In the end the result tends to be along the lines of what he hopes to be the right choice. And if it isn't, then he has to live with it. Figure out were you went wrong, adjust, move on. It's not always that clean, but it is what he tries.
The Emperor: What does Rook's leadership style look like?
It's mostly an extension of himself. Which is to say he is friendly, tries to keep it light, keep spirits high. But he's not afraid to "put his foot down", so to speak. To be matter of fact and tell people to get their head on straight.
This works out for him because it's a small group and he gets along well with them. (Not going to lie he would've done terrible if forced into an Inquisitor type-job during the game. Leading a large faction? oof)
Felix does not feel qualified to be a leader. Especially early on. At first he tries to appeal to what the team seems to think, a neutrality. Quickly realises that appealing to different opinions is going to go bad, and just, pivots into trying to stand his ground on his own ideals and morals. It is after Weisshaupt that he begins to find his footing, and once the Blighted Dragons meet their end he has found it.
The World: What does happily-ever-after look like for Rook? Is it attainable, or just wishful thinking?
When he was in the Circle/University it would've been a good military position as a Laetan. Making his family proud. If he's lucky he found someone that loves him. (at this time he thought that was his first partner Victoria Erimond)
Before the game he is at a point in his life were he isn't sure. There's the grander ideals like "a better Tevinter", and the ever persistent feeling of "make his family proud". Maybe he can convincingly squeeze the happy-ever-after dream of finding a partner. (most recently failed that by feeling inadequate and walking away from that relationship)
During the game his idea of happy-ever-after is "Prevent the blight to end all blights and also the gods from destroying the world, and don't die in the process". I guess you could say that one was successful.
As for his more consistent ideas of "make his family proud" and "find love", they are attainable for sure. Hell he finds love during the events of the game!
Parental approval is sort of attained? But can it ever be enough?
